So glad your found somewhere to do the work. My nan bought me a ring when I was 16 it wasn’t cheap but it’s wasn’t expensive. A stone fell out and it was a bit misshapen after 40 odd years wear and I struggled to find someone to put the stone back - they were saying it would be cheaper to buy new - they didn’t seem to understand sentimental value
You have learnt a great skill with the blades - fancy a trip north to do ours??!!

I heard you get the moss off, it retains water and could encourage rot. Even in the sheathing, It’s too bad, I like the look

On our house report we were advised to get the moss off to preserve the roof. I think also because the moss holds a lot of water which expands when it freezes. That could damage the tiles
