After more than 20 years of running, I run because it is a part of me now. I have never known it to help alleviate my stress because I run in Florida. Every run is a million degrees and adds a bit more physical stress to my regular daily stress. However, running is who I am. Off days like today I get antsy so I fill my time with more work and house chores. Tomorrow morning, I will get up and go another 6 miles. Again, it is just who I am now and I love myself, ergo, I love running. To those getting into running, find your reason for running and the reason you love it and I promise you will not regret it.
Love the laundry analogy. In Australia Parkrun have just launched their GP program. We’ve got a group of doctors at ours, many of whom have been prescribing Parkrun for years.
in the early days, my answer to the question was a quote by Emil Zatopek: birds fly, fish swim, humans run. Today nobody asks me that question. Living in a small village, i am known as the crazy old dude, living in a log cabin and running all day every day.........although i could answer the question in my own words. I run to celebrate my life
I should have watched this yesterday morning :). I grew up as a swimmer and lifesaver. Anyone that swims a lot will understand we are not natural runners. I was at a funeral yesterday where a lot of my old time mates were and they asked about my running (vs swimming). I struggle with swimming now. On another note I recently did my first marathon. Due to a couple of false starts due to injury/covid, the only people I told I was preparing for it was my wife and my running mates. No one else understands properly as I didn't need to hear others comments on why they don't run (knees, criticism of toenails etc) and the main one "that's stupid". I know they don't mean it to be critical however, it was my own personal goal only shared it with those that could help me. Really enjoying your weekly videos. Glad I came across your channel
Kori love this! That’s exactly it, getting all that stuff off. I’ve tried to entice a few people to run because of this reason. I think I’ll just show them your video!
Short & sweet msg. Love it! As for me personally, why do I run? 1) ice cream 2) burritos 3) I enjoy setting performance goals & meeting them 4) it's my quality "Me" time for discovering new music, listening to audiobooks, & catching up on news/current events
I definitely get this question a lot! I lover your answer! That is most definitely one of my reasons, but I’ve never thought of it that was (with laundry) but it makes perfect sense!!!
Yeah man. We are blessed with Park Run over here in the UK for sure. The key to its success is they never say its a race. You turn up and run how you want regardless of who you are... for free! Its built a huge community of runners and its something I should personally be doing more of. Nice video my man. Keep them coming! :)
It is very hard to explain to a non-runner while I do long distance running. The closest reason is Health, but, I really do love that "runners high" and it's addictive.
I quit football at 15 years old ... that is why I run. And it's not so much that I was great at the sport, I wasn't. But, I quit on myself. Point blank. I'm 46, and it still bugs me. Running puts me back in the arena, so to speak. To be able to perform a physical activity, that is challenging, takes strategy and planning, and I have a direct effect on the outcome ... that's what I want. July marks a year for me of consistent running, and I've completed distances of 5k, 10k, and Half Marathon. Mid July, I'm going to start training my body for a future marathon. That's the next step. Great video as usual, Kori! Look forward to the next one, and stay safe!
@@KoriRuns Today was my last run, 5km, of a recovery week before my family and I take a road trip from our home in South Texas to Nashville, TN tomorrow. I thought I'd spice it up and attempt a PB 5km run, and try to break 27:31 I did in October 2021. I was successful!! I ran the same route that I did in October, my new time now is 24:45!! A 2:46 reduction!! It was very satisfying on many levels. Temp was 73 and 96% humidity and very little wind. Those weather conditions are going to get better in the fall and winter, so there is room for even more improvement in the future. Marathon training is on the horizon for me, but I'm going to enjoy this PB today and this vacation with my family this coming week. Have a great weekend Kori!! Thanks for the inspiration and friendship!! Take care and be safe up there!!
Great video! I get this question a lot when I opt out of Happy Hour :-) I tell them it makes me feel strong and they still don't understand. Please don't get my friends started on runners paying $$$ to run on road/trails, we can run on for free. LOL! How is your strength training coming along? We need a video update on your progress :-)
Kori, your production is great but the videos are too short. Try to make them 10 to 12mins long, that helps to increase your watch time then the UA-cam algorithm will promote your videos to more people who watch other running content. If you put all the Ben P interview into one 10min vid it will get loads more views.
Thanks, Sam. First I appreciate you taking the time to share the advice. I think you're absolutely right that longer videos are far more algorithm friendly and would get more views. I'm just taking a different approach. Short, sweet, thoughtful. That's just the way I like telling stories. Pleasing the algorithm isn't my primary driver.
I’m a psychologist and I approve this message!❤️🏃🏻♀️💯🧠
I appreciate that!!!

Very wise words, John! Thank you, as always.
Nailed it! Only regret not to have found this "medicine" much earlier in life.
Agreed 💯
Love the laundry analogy. In Australia Parkrun have just launched their GP program. We’ve got a group of doctors at ours, many of whom have been prescribing Parkrun for years.
Seems like there's really something to it!

Yes!!! Love that quote by the way. I'll definitely be citing that in the future.
That's a great analogy! Running fixes so many things.
No doubt, Richard! Thanks!
Love the analogy, such a great way to answer a common question 😀

I'm glad you've come across it too! Congrats on the first marathon. That's big!!!

All I can say is AMEN!
Amen brother. Running keeps you wild
Absolutely!
For me it is therapy and just good fun. You are wonderful, Kori.
Aww thanks!

Absolutely. I don't get it often but when it happens, it's so worth it!
Thanks for sharing 👍

I love this ❤️ With everything going on in my life, when I’m running on the trails or in the mountains, that’s when I’m the happiest.
That's the cool thing about the running community. That joy is contagious!
Great video, Kori! I love this.
Appreciate that, Jay!
Wise words Kori! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Appreciate that, Mike!
Hi Kori,
Usually never write a comment, but I just wanted to say that I really like your videos!
Greetings from Sweden
The fact that you chose to comment on one of my videos means a lot then! I really appreciate that, Simon!
great analogy - time to do some laundry!
Thanks, Greg! Tell me what time to meet and we'll do a few miles!
Running is like therapy for me. It cleans the mind. I would proscribe running too 😬 BTW I really like you’re studio! NICE!!! 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks, Chris!
@@KoriRuns I forgot to add, running lets me spend time with Vivian :)
@@seikodude How did you forget to include that!! 😳 Now you're in trouble 🤣
🤣😳🤣
We need Park Run in the US! Make it happen Kori! 😊
It's actually here but only in select locations www.parkrun.us/

Thanks!
Thank you for watching!
Yes.
