The US press needs to take lessons from Emily Maitlis - THIS is how you deal with these pathological liars!
Agree!
BTW how did Emma manage to mess up the pronunciation of Maitlis lol its phonetic. Mate-liss
You need to see Sarah Ferguson of the ABC interview Sidney Powell and Marjorie Taylor Greene. Also the BBC's Andrew Neil interview Ben Shapiro.
The British press too!
1000%
A masterclass of impartial and direct journalism - never falling for the bait and letting the speaker dig their own hole. Especially effective against a conspiracy theory nutbar.
Emily Maitlis is legit, she took down Prince Andrew
Calling her a “reporter” is like calling a Lamborghini a “car”
Also, Lake saying UK has been ruined in recent years… after 14 years of conservative rule
If Keri Lake had an iota of common sense, she would have run a mile from this interview. Emily is the real deal, tenacious and fiercely intelligent.
Maitlis also knows a lot about American politics… Lake probably assumed she was some random foreign reporter with no clue of American context
Was a bit disappointed by the approach she took with Farage but did very well here
And then she could barely hide her disgusted when former Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, regained his seat as an independent, during the UK election, and started talking about Palastine. While she visibly stewed silently. Not a very professional look, lady 😑
Emily Maitlas probably knows more about American politics than Kari Lake who lives in conspiracy land. I appreciate Emily's good manners and calm when dealing with these lunatics.
My dog knows more then Kari Lake.
A lot more.
Probably?
Not so polite when she’s sneering at the left?
Not hard is it!🤣
I like how the reporter was not the least bit phased by Kari Lake's insults. I know that just made Kari angrier and it was beautiful to watch.
When Emily interviewed Marjorie Taylor Greene she tied her in knots. In the end Greene told Emily to fuck off. Nice Christian lady!
This woman has such pure and classic journalistic perspectives. She rocks! I’m following her instantly.
The reporter’s follow-up question should always be, “If the vote was rigged, how did so many republicans win?”
Yeah that's one thing the Trumpists have NEVER explained about 2020.
Its also something the Democrats have IGNORED, because other than Biden winning the Whitehouse the Democrats lost almost everywhere else. Down ballot they were hammered.
- They did NOT win the Senate outright as they should have;
- They actually lost seats in the House; and
- They got smashed in the states houses, senates and governorships.
If anything 2020 was a disaster for the Democrats and its now lead to the *_"Biden won't go"_* disaster.
What actually happened was that a lot of GOP people turned up in 2020 and voted GOP for everything except for Donald Trump because they were tired of his crap.
But this highlights just how delusional BOTH the Democrats and GOP are. They are BOTH so wrapped up in their narratives they can't see anything clearly and the die hard supporters on BOTH SIDES are equally deluded.
America is now malfunctioning at so many levels its hard to see how America survives as a nation going forward.
You're right.
@@MaryDeanDotCom yes, even the “great” ones like this, never really _get_ there… I feel like practically every UA-camr I watch could interview better than everyone on television
The follow up to disbelief in the vote count should always be “people don’t just vote for what they want, but against what they don’t want”
@@mindhackz that's a great point and something I've pointed out a few times.
In 2020 the Dems did NOT win the Senate, lost House seats and got smashed in the state seats.
There were lots of GOP voters who voted GOP for everything except 1 thing - Donald Trump.
This has not only been misunderstood by the GOP but also the Dems. Other than Biden getting the Whitehouse the Dems were smacked everywhere else. 2020 was NOT a Triumph because a triumph would have seen Trump laughed off the stage never to return and here he is right now looking the winner.
The Dems are truly hopeless. They whine about the 6-3 bias in SCOTUS and yet the Dems have had the Whitehouse for 20 of the past 32 years compared to the GOP with only 12 years in the Whitehouse AND YET they have lost control of SCOTUS.
Many of us in the UK are very well informed about the US political scene and Emily Maitlis has decades of reporting international matters. What Kari Lake says about the UK situation is irrelevant to the discussion about American matters. It's been that way for nearly a quarter of a millennium, maybe Kari Lake hasn't realised that yet.
It's great watching Kari Lake, she always flops around like a fish out of water, and ends up looking utterly ridiculous, when interviewed by a competent reporter.

The real masterstroke of Emily's style is that she refuses to rise to the bait when the interviewee tries to rattle her.
She understands the old journalistic adage that she is NOT the story. Her job is to ask the questions.
Lake tries hard to change the subject by insulting her repeatedly. Emily doesn't even acknowledge the insults but continues with her questioning. This highlights the fact that she was trying to avoid the questions.
Yes. Emily Maitlis is the real deal and a hero of British journalism.
REPUBLICANS DONT ACTUALLY "ANSWER" QUESTIONS!😂SMOKE AND MIRRORS. 😂😮
So Lake acknowledged she had said that crap and doubled down on it but when the reporter presses her on that language being provocative Lake gets completely indignant and denies everything as fake news. Hard to believe she's even an adult.

Emily Maitlis is an excellent reporter. She's extremely erudite and quick witted, and she doesn't let people weasel out of questions.
She deserves better than self-obsessed lightweights like Lake.
I think Carrie Lake actually believes the crap she says. Lead poisoning is no joke
The fascism isn't lead related.
I don't think she believes in anything, except trying to get power.

Because Kari (not Carrie Underwood) Lake most like one that Race. The Fraud is done specifically using voting machines.. She just didnot know how it was done,, They in it was done from sudden spike in her opponent votes in the AP reporting. Katie Hobbs ( secretary of state) seems as if she had a (Nixon Silent Majority) that all of sudden.. within few minutes.. got 50 000 votes that spikes her from being 10 000 behind to 2/3 of the votes.. It is very likely that gubernatorial elections in AZ and Presidential election in 2020 in Fulton county GA were really fraudulent and specifically fraud was committed benefiting democrat candidates. Also there other individual case like gays in CA sending dead people votes favoring Biden in 2020". AZ and Fulton are only two which fraud was caused significantly to raise to many red flags to Ignore. British interviewers live for this sort of stuff. There are fewer news outlets in the UK and hence almost no 'tame' TV stations for politicians to go on and just be allowed to ramble about whatever they like. It also means that doing the 'cicuit' of TV stations is something that politicians *have* to do in the UK in order to get any sort of message to a mass audience. As a result, there is a constant supply of dumfounded looking politicians who are routinely dumped in front of people like Emily Maitliss who glory in ripping them apart. British politicians have learned to just retreat behind long-winded nonsense statements that are essentially meaningless to hopefully just soak up the time, but when an American politician is dumped in front of them, they've never experienced the sheer brutality of the British press.
There's a very famous example of Boris Johnson, being interviewed at a meat packing plant in which he escapes by hiding for 30 minutes in a fridge. He'd rather freeze to death than come out and answer more of these awkward questions.
It's bloodsport to the British. It's VERY funny. 🤣🤣

Brits know more about what's going in American politics than Americans know what's going on in U.K. politics, so for Kerri Lake to dismiss her perspective like that kind demonstrates that very point.
Everybody knows more about what's going in US politics than Americans do.
To be fair, American politics affects people on a global scale and in a significant way; British politics is far less relevant today to most foreign audiences in that regard. It’s therefore hardly surprising to find others are less informed about politics here.
American news channels are also widely available in Britain. In the US, I believe (?) the BBC World News is still primarily international in scope and covers much less in the way of nitty-gritty local UK politics.
Nice work from Emily, as usual.

The United States should see about recruiting some.
Way to go BBC❤ 💯
She is not going to argue because she doesn't have an argument.

Emily Maitliss is a national treasure and whip smart interviewer, never gets shaken!!!
