  • Gelligaer common, which lies between the boroughs of Merthyr Tydfil and Caerphilly, is home to around 500 feral ponies. While many have been cruelly abandoned on the common by their owners, many come from generations of feral ponies. Calls have been made for population numbers to be managed, but it has been argued that they play a role in the ecology of the area.
Through ecological surveys, this film explores whether the ponies of Gelligaer, are really benefiting the ecosystem through conservation grazing.
