MITOSIS. A Stop motion Animation by Guldies

- 4425 individual photos played in 24 frames per second. Animated in Dragonframe. Edited in Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop. Sound effects recorded with a Blue Yeti. Plastilina from JOVI mixed with a little bit of FIMO clay.
It took me a whole year to animate this crazy project. I took a break from everything else and just animated because I wanted to animate. This animation isn't for everyone, but I had fun. I had the chance to animate something personal for the first time in a very long time. I really REALLY hope you enjoy! I look forward to more personal projects in the near future, but not as work heavy as this one!

HI EVERYONE!! It has been so long since my last personal animation! I'm SUPER DUPER nervous and I don't know how to do this anymore. Leave a cute little like if you want me to keep doing this weird thing I'm doing. I love it with my whole being, and I love you too!
Hi
Omg I love you stuff! Awesome to see you posting again.
Amazing
This stopmotion is quite the creepy one. I love it!
this was incredible
The fact that this is genuine claymation shows this guy has mad patience
no kidding
i get tired after a second of any type of animation, this guy is clearly superior
@@Frenzy.64 spittin facts brother
And also mad skill

I have been a professional stop-motion animator for over 40 years and I must say, this is the best clay animation I've ever seen. Well done!
You're too kind! Thank you SO much
@@Guldiesim here too :))))
Also 1:10 is sooooo satisfying
Don't know what is more impressive, the visual or the audio. All those delightful sounds, like the wood bonking or the cracking finger bones, it's all amazing put together.
thanks a bunch. so much fun recording all the wooden boards, wooden boxes and the bone cracking!
@@Guldies wait bone cracking?._.

@@Stickman_adventures_ i was making a pun that he was breaking people's bones
Your Foley work is super impressive on top of the quality stop motion animation! Thank you for sharing!
Yeah. The sound design was incredible.
So happy to hear! I love making SFX! Lots of half rotten branches to get the creaky sounds
@@Guldies Love when you show the BTS footage of the sfx next to the short itself :)
@@davidbai8411 I would love to be able to do that for everything I create. Unfortunately I was totally drained at the end on this project. Good looking BTS takes a lot of energy. I only got small phone recordings of the process I'm afraid
1:15 Definitely my favorite part. The motion of the planks shuddering to life and folding into shapes is just 👌
AH mine too!! thank you!
Same
So many things moving at once makes my mind melt!
I was already thinking the same; the shivering quality of their movement is SO satisfying!
Your very good at what you do can you do morth one day
The hard part about seeing such talent on display is to think of anything substancial to say to propertly congratule the artists.
this was more than enough. much love

PLEASE KEEP DOING YOU !!! this type of art is so rare these days!!! being able to see such uniqueness and wonder in your animations is so special. really encourages me to keep thinking mystically and to not settle for the predictable. thank you for creating and loving what you do and sharing it with us !!!
Nothing better than sharing my stuff with you. Always scary to put out abstract stuff, but your encouraging words makes me less afraid. Thank you SO much my friend!

Love the wobbly bouncy magnetic feel you give to all the objects colliding. Such a refined piece, amazing work Alex 🤩
Haha I love to give them a lil magnetic wiggle. Thank you so so much Callum!!
This was incredible work. The sound design, style, animation and creativity. Stop motion animation is immensely time consuming and takes incredible patience. Props to you for making art like this that's so fun and innovative!
Thank you so much! This was a risky thing but I'm glad I finished it eventually. So glad you enjoyed it!
This dude's animation is so smooth, the lighting is perfect, 10/10 sound design, honestly if I could give this man an award I would
I'm almost upset at how unbelievably imaginative this is. The sounds? Stop it. The detail? Stop it. The way the branches of the pine trees bounced? Just stop it......don't ever stop, please.
You're the best. Will never ever stop. Promise
The combination of the animation, the zooms, and the sound effects is perfect. Every impact is felt as if it is real!
That was my goal and so happy it worked! Thanks a bunch.
Dude, this is incredible! Not only is the animation incredibly smooth, you also put an intense amount of detail in it and the sound effects fit just perfectly! I'm only curious how you come up with these crazy ideas and if there's a message behind them..?
It's a big message behind this animation yes! A lot of the animation is improvised, but I had the general "story" planned from the beginning. Thanks a lot!
If it's improvised how is there a story?
@@lifebydesign9435 the animation sequences between my "set pieces" are improvised. I knew I wanted the pinecone grow to a tree, and the trees to build a house, and the animation to loop. The rest is impro.
@@Guldies ohhh
The sound design isn't getting enough love here. That shit pulls this whole thing together
I remember watching one of the first Guldies videos years ago, and now seeing how much his creativity, level of detail and storytelling has improved, it's genuinely impressive. A true artist!
youre the best!
Dude this was for real one of the best and most fluid stop motions i've ever seen! The storytelling and sound design were also on point. Congrats!!!
THANK YOU!
The sounds of the crunching wood was so perfect. Can’t even imagine how much time and patience it takes to make this stuff.
Loads of recording sounds 😉
I just got recommended your first claymation video 13 years ago, and came to see this. You have progressed a lot and motivated me to keep doing lego stop motion. Keep it up.
hey thanks!
I can’t even comprehend the talent and dedication this takes, the detail the sounds the amount going on at one, it actually is overwhelming to try and think about the work it would take. You make clay look sound and feel ridged, then turn around and make it feel fluid and liquid, you make clay feel alive, like it couldn’t possibly be a human doing any of this. Please keep it up if you are able, stay weird, and thank you
thank you. comments like yours makes the hard work worth it. I will always stay weird, if you do. cheers!
You have such a memorable and inanely and recognizable art style, and yet you still keep surprising me with your wild, crazy, unique, absolutely BEAUTIFUL animations that have lots of depth and detail put into each frame. You've made something really awesome here and you have my appreciation. Such an inspired video, bravo 👏👏👏
Aw just what I like to hear! Thank you so much!! So much fun to improvise and just go for it :)
The amount of detail in the objects and the transitions are always so satisfying
Insane!!! This is the next level, amazing work 😁🙏🤖👏🏻
thank you so much!
Clay stop motion is perhaps the most magical form of video art. The movement is so distinctive and captivates me every time. Thank you for keeping it alive. ♥️
Thank you for your support
I found your channel probably ten or so years ago. Your videos were a huge inspiration to me and when I was in middle school I got really into sculpting. I lost interest in making art due to mental health issues but every once in a while I still like to visit your channel and rewatch some of my old faves plus some of your newer vids. It’s been a wonderful experience seeing you work evolve over the years. I might not be your most present fan but your work definitely had a big impact on me growing up and I don’t think I’d be the same person if it wasn’t for your videos :)
This is my exact timeline and relationship with Guldies too, it's truly incredible :')
Rarely do I see anything this impressive on UA-cam. You still have that touch of artistry, my friend
You're the best. Thank you so much.
@@Guldies You bet! I love seeing your work, and I'm glad you're so dedicated to making such cool pieces. Looking forward to more in the future!
not only is the claymation amazing but so is the sound design!
POV you stub your toe: 1:53
The sheer talent, creativity, effort, imagination and dedication shown in each and every one of your videos is such that most could only dream of. You never fail to inspire me with your work. Happy to see you back Guldies!
So happy to be back! Thank you for your kind words. They make it worth it.
Crazy that I've been looking up to Guldies animations for a decade! I still have some of the polymer clay sculptures I made from your early tutorials. Always so happy to see a new video from you :^)
Haha, and I will keep doing this for many more decades. Glad to see you're still here. Thank you!
This has one of the best sound design I've ever heard!!!
This is the definition of human creativity
Another gorgeous work!! In a world where A.I. art is dominating the attention cycle, I'm very happy to see something wonderful has just been made with human hands.
It’s amazing how you are able to keep track of so many objects animating at once. Amazing
I kept track on 4 objects at once maximum. I did a lot of masking to make things happen at the same time, because I would get so lost otherwise. I also work faster that way! Thank a lot!
Always wonderful to see another astonishing monstrosity by you Guldies! Big inspiration for many, these are just so high quality.
Thank you so much!
Insane quality, claymation is such rare craft even at it peak it was niche. I'm jealous of your dedication
1:50 I would have the same reaction as the house
GOD this was even better than I thought it was gonna be, it's clear how much your skills have SKYROCKETED, so much of this just left me speechless
Animation just gets more and more fun. Thank you!! I will go back to make less detailed animations for a while now haha.
This is honestly beautiful
I have no words. This is amazing ! Love your work
Means a lot. Thank you :)
This is weirdly creative and i kinda like it. Can we talk about for a second about how the heck he got those sound effects? outstanding work, your animations are always interesting and so mesmerizing to see
Happy to hear. I love SFX. Thank you very much :)
You’re stuff is always so satisfying to watch, both with smoothness and the sound effects. It’s so abstract and amazing. Never doubt your work man
Means a lot to hear. Thank you my friend.
I'm actually floored by the FPS of this claymation. The patience to create something this high quality is unreal.
This is beyond captivating, mesmerizing, and incredibly creative
Means a lot to hear
It is so... "amusingly weird", like a thought materialized into someting tangible and visible by all, but it took waaay more time to make than just a thought. I love how you have your own style of creepy, fluid and fascinating animation, how I can tell "this is Guldies !" by just a frame. Your work is immaculate !!
That's such a wonderful compliment. Thank you Kami!
The animation is unthinkably smooth and the sound design is absolutely marvelous, incredible work!
This give me little nightmares vibes 0:11 The art bruh😬
I can already tell this is going to reach millions of views over the next few weeks or months.
I missed! The GREAT return of the GREAT champion. Thank you! Beautiful animation... I watched it 4 times and I can't get enough! You are an artist and a master at what you create. I love your works. You are number one for me! You do the animations TOTALLY YOURSELF! From scratch. You add sounds that you record yourself. You edit each photo. You combine all the scenes in video editing programs. And much much more! I know what I write because I do the same thing myself - thanks to you, the passion for creating stop-motion animations in 2019 was born in me. I'm still learning, but I know I'm not up to your heels, my master. I ADORE YOU! Kind regards.
I want you to know how much it means reading this! I'm so happy you're following your passion, and that you found stop motion thanks to me. Keep it up and thank you so so much!
These animations are so beautiful in a way you don’t expect them to be
this is the most comprehensive guide to building a house I've ever seen.
Holy hell, the vibrations of the boards falling and bending is so effective, killer work as always!
my fav sequence! thank you so much
Like so @Guldies can see. Great content that in the digital age draws attention to such applied, lively and REAL technology as claymation. Among the whole sea of stupid videos, this is really what is missing.
I love your work so much. Seeing your animation skills grow from your first animation you posted 13 years ago to the stuff that you create in the present is wonderful. It's so horrifyingly beautiful and the medium is perfect for the type of animations that you do. Everything you do comes together so cohesively, The sound effects you add, the cinematography / directing that you do, down to the fucking little shakes of the camera whenever something is moving around. It makes me feel something so completely. I will never get over how amazing the work you do is. I have loved your deeply unsettling animations ever since you came out with euphoria years ago. The detail of your sculptures are unbelievable and the fact you have the time impatience to make them move so smoothly is astounding. I love your work and the vibes / stories you convay. I live for this uncomfortable and unsettling content. This newest animation hit different, the isolated setting in the middle of a forest, power of the scream at the end with the shake of the camera, the eyes in the window frames, the cracking of the highly detailed hands whenever they moved, really made me feel something so deeply in my soul. Nothing I say will ever be able to convey how much I truly adore your art, but I tried my best. Thank you for always putting in the effort to create something horrifically, terrifyingly, and truly beautiful.
I love your personal work so much. I also can't get over the part of the animation that had the heart. It's so evocative. The detail of it is incredible as well.
Every single frame in this masterpiece is an artwork in and of itself, and considering it’s probably 20 fps with a runtime of 2:26 seconds that is nearly 3000 frames. Each an artwork in and of itself. It would take me weeks just to make one frame of this marvel of human talent, let alone 3000 of them. Truly amazing
I love the night forest theme, it helps make the whole animation feel more alive. And the sound design is absolutely fantastic, it really pulls it all together. It’s amazing to see how far you’ve come and I am happy to see such talent being recognized
So happy for your comment! Thanks a bunch. I want to focus a bit more on building my own sets and this was a small start haha!
I love your work , it's so poetic and authentic. It's an eye bath with smr . It's normal artists to struggle find their artistic energy all the time. What helps me when I am stuck is to rest by reading or just having fun with friends and long talks and not pushing myself to create for a while.
Not pushing yourself should always be a mantra, but I'm bad att following it. Thank you so much for your kind words!
the sound + animation combo on the planks folding into boxes was next level. masterfully done :)
I cannot imagine how much patience this must require. I love it!
the "rules" you stick to for how the objects move and are attracted to each other, merge, etc, are very satisfying. There's an underlying logic present to the world that comes through in the motion.
And the cycle starts again...
This stop motion animation is just amazing, and it's so smooth too! I especially love the sound design, it just gave even more life to the animation!
that was so smooth! so many small details in the movements that really make them addicting to watch. i love your videos!
This is honestly some of the best stuff that can be found on UA-cam and every second of it is amazing.
This is a phenomenal piece of work! I remember growing up watching Gumby every week. Man it would be so cool to watch a show based in this MITOSIS universe!
You never fail to absolutely blow my mind. Thank you so much for being so awesome
It literally seems like a software/3D Animation. Best stop motion I’ve ever seen,ITS SO PERFECT!!!!
Just saw your first video and wanted to watch more. But damn, that must be the best clayanimation I have ever seen😍 everything was so smooth and on point. Increadible.
This has got to be my favorite animation yet. The surreal imagery mixed with the smoothness just makes it all click. Beautiful.
1:56 me after stubbing my toe at 3:00 am
your stopmotion work is so fucking insane! the details, the transitions from each shape, the characteristics to each type, sound design and many details that i probably missed. it's mindblowing! one of the best stop motion artists
Thank you so so much!
This is just insane work! Super cool how the end connects back to the beginning and all the references to mitosis, keep doing what you're doing, much love and respect
Cheers and thank you so much!
This is perfect!!! Probably the best claymation I've ever seen. I used to dabble in stop motion animation a bit in the past and I say: you must have the patience of a God.
Amazing video!! Infinite amount of work and dedication! Very creative as well! Congrats!! 😃😃😍
0:30 legit looks like it should be in the Forest
The scream at 1:56 was terrifying! I had my volume at max and headphones on!
Whoa. Incredible level of skill. Thank you for gifting us this work.
Bro out here making some of the best stop motion known to man, and still be overlooked by some. Beyond stellar job.
This is very ASMR xd
Amazing animation!!
Love your Animations! They are absolutely inspiring
Watched this right after your first upload
Hard work and 14 years of dedication can truly make you a master
This was simply amazing! I would love to see a behind the scenes of this.

yeah
Too many amazing things to name them all but the quality of the scupture (hands, fingers, faces, hearts, etc), the sound effects, the smoothness of the animation, all these are astounding. And no doubt the whole feeling of it all is definitely you. Just incredible
thank you so much for your comment. I love sculpting as well, and it's so much fun implementing it into my animations!
Even by watching the silent preview, I could tell this would have excellent sounds. I was not disappointed.
Dude, this has got to be one of the most satisfying and intriguing animations I have ever seen, both visually and conceptually. Absolutely magnificent work.
Is that Gus from Breaking Bad at 0:49 ?
I think this man is the best stop motion animator ever
THESE MODELS MY GUY HOW EVEN-
this is really really sick good job
I've been looking forward to this day for a very long time: the day Guldies uploads another stop-motion video. They're so high-quality and surreal that it's an experience to cherish. The fact that this video loops is incredible, too. It's strange and surreal like a car crash that you just can't look away from; it draws the viewer close to participate in the experience. Rather than simply watching the video idly, it demands participation on behalf of the viewer.
Your videos have struck a delicate balance. Please continue.
How do you feel about variable framerate (VFR) techniques? I know it'd be a lot more work, but the suggestion is there. Peruse it if you desire :)
I love your take on it. Thanks for sharing, and thank you SO much for your kind words!
I'm not a big fan of variable framerates. My brain picks it up immediately. I often hold frames at the end of a movement to play around with the timing of things. Not more than 2-3 frames!
@@Guldies Perfectly reasonable! Thank you.
This is an INCREDIBLE FLEX ON ANYONE YOU WILL EVER MEET. Impressive doesn't even begin to describe this.
This is a excellent display of mastery over these mixed media.
I've never seen the 12 principles of animation so clearly demonstrated in clay
2:16 and the cycle repeats
My biology teacher put this vid on for us in class because he thought it was actually about mitosis 💀
NO WAY. Did you guys watch the full video?
this is probably the most satisfying thing ive ever seen
thank you!
Your videos gave me nostalgia. I used to watch your videos when i was in highschool but now i already graduated from uni. Seeing your latest upload make me a child again. Thanks, Guldies
thank YOU

I'm glad I'm not high for this. I would have had a panic attack looking at this shit. Pretty great animation though
My god, your work looks way more smoother than ever. Good job. Excellent job.
Really impressive stop-motion..... you can clearly see his hardwork
I’m always happy to see you post! You animations are amazing as always! Keep up the good work :D
