- Hello, here we replace a common fault that's not unique to ARCAM a loose and or worn belt on the drive drawer
that is preventing the device from ejecting a disc.
This is my first time looking at an ARCAM device but
I was sure it was going to be familiar inside. :-)
thanks for watching.
If anyone's looking for how to repair an Aiwa XC-300 CD player - it uses exactly the same optical drive as this video
Thanks, I do hope it helps people sort out the problems with there drive.
THANK YOU SO MUCH MY FRIEND ! - The CD drive unit is exactly the same as in my NAD C541i...and it seems the load / unload drive belt for the draw is a common problem. It should ideally be a new (square section ) belt, if you can find one. To get at the belt, the trick is to withdraw the tray completely by moving outward the two butter-fly like plastic clips at the front of the draw, as you very kindly pointed to in the video...I just could not work it out till you showed us !!!. Then you can slide the new belt over the two pullies by raising the little black plastic cover a little, the one you said was just to cover the pully wheels. No need to actually remove the unit at all if you are very careful!!! Hope this helps someone?. Long live UA-cam !!
This is the unit I have, so many thanks for making this video and sharing it. I replaced the lens unit ( KSM213CCM ) myself 5 years ago, but have forgotten what I did LOL. I remember there is a wee solder safety thingy that I discovered has to be removed before the new unit will work. I discovered this after putting it all together without doing that and the Unit would not work . This is a good refresher for me. .
Glad you liked the video and yes one of the reasons I make them is so I can watch them back so I don't forget. 😉. Great tip about the solder.
Thank you fella, this really really helped me fix my old cd62
Hello.
Thanks for watching, and I am glad it helped you somewhat. Another device saved from the landfill is a good day. 👍
Exactly what DrDuron said 😉. Great to save another from the landfill. Thanks for watching my video and hopefully another one at some stage will help you again.
Wish you were in Canada, I love the sound of my Arcam cd72 but having drive issues. Had the laser changed a couple years ago but now the transport is not happy. I’m not loosing hope.
Hello and thanks for watching. I was in Canada back in 2011, great place and I will go back. I will bring my tools with me and see you I Seward 😉.
Thanks to your video I learnt a few tips on disassembling the drive mechanism of a Cambridge Audio Azure 840c. It’s still in pieces on my bench until a replacement belt purchased on eBay makes it’s way all the way from the UK to SF, CA. Btw, I’m originally from C0.G@lw@y and B@llinteer
Thanks for watching the video and I am very glad it was of some use to you. Also great to have people add there version as many devices will use the same mech housed in different "boxes".
SF I can remember one thing, parking a car in an underground car park at a hotel. Wall 1, car 0. ;-). Only a slight scrape but still.
🐀 farm 🚜 🥓. Here. 😉
Nice video. I’d love to see an Arcam - Technics comparison video! My dad loved technics, while Arcam was my first proper piece of equipment. Also, I’m no expert but I heard Arcam used Sony disc drive units, and presumably changed it to their needs
Very useful video. Many thanks.
Very glad you liked it. Thanks 😊
Thank you, i have this player.
Hello. More to come on this little diamond. Glad you liked. :-)
This video is frustrating.. work out how to do it then shoot the video... I’d like to fix my piece of junk otherwise I’ll throw it off the second floor..
Real shame that the only bit that's needed (getting the tray out and re-orienting the drive gear) isn't shown in this vid. Everything but!! Frustrating.
If you guide the try in and out the gear alignment will become obvious. It was impossible to video and very long winded. Patience and bringing the tray in and out slowly will demonstrate the correct alignment. Its a frustrating job to get it right. Thanks for watching.
DRCHRISTIANMD cheers! I got it in the end. You pointed out the tricky bits to look out for. Now it plays with the new laser but drops out every 20s or so.... Need to adjust power maybe?
Hello,
I have the same laser module and whole drive in Tascam CD 160 MkII ;) My unit after laser replacement don't spinning CD. I have noticed that mechanism is probably incorrectly assembled. The second limit switch doesn't fit to that main, black gear when CD shuffle is closed. How to find that correct position for laser unit and CD tray?
I have a cd17 and noticed that if won't play the 2nd cd of a double album. Have you come across this problem
