- D-Day 70th anniversary, Normandy. Burning Bridges.
Driving shots were filmed in the lanes near St. Mere Eglise, Normandy, and along Omaha Beach road in a 1943 M3A1 Scout Car. Stills are a mix of recreations (taken at the same event), and originals.
Music by Mike Curb Congregation - Burning Bridges - theme to Kelly's Heroes
It was 16 March 1973, I was in Louisville,Ky to be inducted into the Marine Corps the next morning. Here’s the movie I found on tv at the YMCA.
God Bless all of the Allied Soldiers who fought and died for our freedoms, thank you.
Now it's 75 years and God Bless all those who sacrificed for our freedoms and our way of life. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE
@Maria Strotz Stop it both of you. Seen both of you many times, first there's always the bot saying that they hacked their significant other's/friend's account on different platforms, and then a bot that pretends to be someone who sees that it works.
@Koda Leonardo Stop it both of you. Seen both of you many times, first there's always the bot saying that they hacked their significant other's/friend's account on different platforms, and then a bot that pretends to be someone who sees that it works.
The part at 1.20 when the young girl waves and he gives her the fist salute is just sublime, bring a tear to the eye.
I dedicate this song to my friend Ed Mokan who served in the 82nd Airborne 504th PIR. He was a scout sniper and yes he survived all his jumps. God Bless you Ed.
We were so young. Always thinking about home ! I'd do it again if I knew then what I know now.God bless America
My father was in Patton's Third Army (European Campaign) in WW II. He saw plenty of action under General George S Patton.
Almost thought Telly Savalas would turn around after driving the vehicle. Cool video. Thank you for your SERVICE.
Tears come to my eyes listening and looking at the video I think of all those who didn't come home. RIP BOYS
Ditto. My father went to the Pacific and his best friend -who I was named after- went to Europe and was KIA in France 1944.
@@frankb4517 RIP for your father's best friend, i thank them for their service for keeping the peace worldwide and die for the goods of the world
I would like to say thank you for honoring all our allies in all war they gave their lives for our freedom R.I.P.
except it was not for OUR freedom... It was for a freedom of banksters, and other psychopats taking roles in our societies...
@@zdzichus.3264 Which is why you aren't under Nazi rule right now? Because they didn't fight for YOUR freedom? Use your brain, bastard.
75 years now.... oh how time flies
RIP BOYS
My father would love this video. He has a 1943 white half track. Sadly he past away, his Half track was from a movie studio and was in many films. 🇺🇲
Wonder video. Thank you for making it in sepia tone to match the period photos. Watched it 5 times in a row.
Thank you to all who fought and died in war for freedoms I enjoy today … RIP and Respect ✊
Brilliant, we shall never forget the brave, the fallen as we shall ever live in the shadows of hero's.
The absolute greatest generation ever
Only because they won. They weren't any greater than the Vietnam Generation, who fought in a pointless war that people wanted to forget.
@Marc Schneider Nam was a giant Fn lie, and the governmental lies have gotten nothing but worse
Fantastic video. Time to watch it again.

Oddball is still the best tanker.
The Airborne soldier with the Cross is someone I wish I knew. I assume he was a priest.
I am sorry we have made a mess of your legacy.
Whats the name of that song???
Burning Bridges by The Mike Curb Congregation.
81 years ago today WW2 began.
Why make heroes out of heroes, cuz it's right
WONDER WHY THEY'D NEED TO INSTALL A SPEEDOMETER INTO A VEHICLE BEING USED IN A WAR??? IS THERE A SPEED LIMIT ADVANCING INTO A WAR ZONE???
On base there is
And you don't want to be too fast to the battlefield
That's a goodone they might get a speeding fine
Back in the day in Europe, units moved out en mass using the Autobahn or local roads to deployment locations or training areas. Same goes for Korea, other locations were US troops are stationed as well as Stateside.
Kelly's heroes was invasion of Italy
What this song name??
Burning Bridges
“Burning Bridges” still sends a “chill” up my spine! Nam Vet of 2 tours 68-71 Central
Highlands...where every day was a “trip”!
I think the movie was a lot more cynical about the war than this suggests. More like "Catch-22."
And thank the Russians for the defeat of the Nazis.
