- We all have something we are scared of, and my husband Eric is really afraid of wooden lip jumps. We came acroos huge wooden lips jumps at Hilltop bike park in Alaska and he tried to defeat his fear of the jumps! Can he send all 3 wooden lips jumps?

Hi honey, thanks for mentioning my 106 attempts - TWICE. 😅
It’s very important. It took time to count your attempts 👍
🤣😂 as asian were specific and detailed its culture thing 😉
So glad that that Donkey Kong bear didn't throw a banana and u made to the next level.
I love that you guys film your experiences together - and win the mental battles together, too! You guys are awesome.
Lol
"We just need to override the memories of our failures with the memories of our success." Quote of the day. Thanks Yuka and Eric.
Exactly what I was going to write!! Yuka.... my hero!
that's a solid one
It's been said that "everyone needs an Antoine" but what's been forgotten or not realised, is that everyone needs a Yuka too! Fantastic effort out there Yuka & congrats on making those jumps!
I miss riding with Antoine…but we have to grow up 😭
@@VanGirlYuka did you see Antoine crazy save on Shale Master in Whistler?
So you are a confidence woman? oh wait that's not what it means😁
Sweet progression. I've never done anything that big.
"If Yuka can do it, you can do it!" That sounds like a perfect channel motto. Watching you certainly helps give me confidence as well! There's something to be said for watching a channel that ISNT a pro mountain biker getting through on skill built up over years, but instead someone who gets through on confidence and positive attitude, and absolutely sends CRAZY features! 👍
"Yu kan do it too!" Love it!
No no no just because you can do it doesn't mean anyone else can do it I'm not going to go ride my bike when my brakes are failing down a rock slab on a side of a mountain like she did..
@@danshilling4240 i guess Im not familiar with when she did that. I certainly dont recommend riding above your ability and definitely 100% dont mess around with safety equipment like brakes, helmets, and tires. However the stuff she did here was obviously within her ability, and within her husbands, the difference was that she had confidence and he didnt (at first).
@@JD-ub5ic she said in her video that she knew her brakes were acting weird and she felt that they were failing and still went down that slab of Rock she's extremely lucky
Awesome video Yuka!! It was so much fun riding with you guys. Thank you for the confidence boost as well! 🤘🏼🥳
You made our day for sure! Let us know when you’re coming to Whistler😁
@@VanGirlYuka Oh for sure! Hopefully in 2023!
Way to face your fears, Eric! Great work. I know how frustrating it is being scared of something we know we have the skills to ride safely. Keep up the great work, Eric and Yuka!
I've watched you and Erics channels for years, and can Remember when his tires would rarely leave the ground, and now both you to have progressed soo much, sending some frightening stuff with determination and ease, you two are an inspiration to challenge myself on the trails, thanks!!🤘
Its tough to overcome your fear, but once you hit it the first time, excitement takes over 👍
Absolutely! I was afraid of this feature in Delta called the gravity bowl with a decent lip/jump that sends you air born!! But I finally did it, now it has become easy for me 😀
I love that feelings 🤩
My trick is im too lazy to walk back up the hill 😅 had a nasty crash with that attitude and haven't ridden since
Always a beast, Yuka! I'm glad Eric found his mojo back.
"I can pop more than you... you just have more courage" wooow really kind words!
this is the hardest part but I love seeing it. I have a few of these myself.
Way to go! You need some 'Yuka would hit it' stickers and merch.
Another great video Yuka. You are officially "Yuka the Courageous." I often watch riders who are more skilled than you here on UA-cam. But I rarely watch ANY riders with more courage than you. This skill is very elite and one that most of us struggle with...even your own husband. Your warrior mentality inspires me in my own riding to be brave when I know that I have the skill. Thank you Yuka!
@UCaAN97FJhh-GOGuBejcGSpA Hi Yuka, what surprise?
0:43 wow an og biking at grouse photo! Do you guys remember when that was? I worked there 9 years ago and even then it was a thing of the past, cool to see some evidence that it did, in fact, exist and have some regular people visiting! Typically all you find online about it is when they hosted a uci MTB race around 2001.
Probably not that feasible in terms of getting footage, but I think a video about past BC bike parks could be quite interesting!
I want “Yukan do it!” on a merch. :)
I will never cheer as loud for the top tier extreme mountainbikers as I do for Eric conquering his nemeses. I need this in my life.
You are such a good person Yuka ! Eric seems very happy thanks to you. 🙏🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🤙🏽
Just so inspiring. Thank you!
Another amazing video Yuka!
Awesome video! Love seeing you guys succeed!
Way to go. Really enjoy y’all’s videos
Progression! Good for both of you!
Another great video Yuka. Thank you!
Love your videos, they give me confidence!
Overcoming fears!!
Respect!
I thought the bear was going to take Yuka's bike and shoot all 3 jumps!
Lol I can’t let it do that! He is overweight for my bike setup 🐻
Awesome video! You two inspire me to keep trying to get better.
Love the new video! Makes my day watching them, keep it up!!!!
Thank you for watching 😁
Wow Yuka! You are fearless! I love your videos
This was such a good episode. I'm rooting for both of you! You guys are amazing, thanks Yuka!
Great work on those jumps, such a positive video!
Such a positive lesson! Nice work to all the riders that day.
Love ya'll(s) vids! You both have helped my jumping tremendously!
I'll never be as good as both of you. So good! So fun!
A little confidence is always needed. Nice to watch you guys continue showing and enjoying the jump rides
You got a way with words Yuka! Such a good story teller!! Well done Eric on the progress mate!!! Woot woot!!!
You're the best Yuka! Thank you both for the motivation.
The storytelling in this video is really really great! Good stuff.
Congrats to both of you! Great job all the way around.
great video. thanks for giving us courage 🥰
Great video! Brave and Heart-warming! You guys are awesome!
Great video Yuka- awesome to watch you two as a team overcome your fears. Couple goals 👏👍🏽
It's true you do inspire confidence. I've tried a lot more things since I've been following you. 😊
Courage queen. You rock!!’
Awesome video! You picked a great summer to check out Alaska! Hope you guys enjoyed it.
"What about the next one?"..Eric laughs nervously
I to have been struggling with those jumps for a while. Seeing you hit them has been a huge confidence boost! Now I have to find someone to tow me in.
You know where to look 😉
@KEVSTR Haha, will have to have you tow me in to the drop too. That thing scares the crap out of me.
I hope you conquer those jumps and drop 😁 Kevin is the best rider to follow 👍
Perfect, I guess I will have to follow Kevin in then. Thanks Yuka!
Hey Yuka! I love you and Eric’s channel! I don’t know if you know yet but the old Jarrod’s Place is gone and he reopened a new one in Summerville, GA. It’s shuttle access now. There are 3 Dbl Blacks, 3 Single Blacks, 3 Blues, 3 Greens so far. Check out the footage on UA-cam and please make a visit when you are back in the south!
I have seen the videos in new Jarrod’s place. It’s sad we haven’t conquered the all jumps in old Jarrod’s place but the new place looks very awesome✨ can’t wait to visit there again😁
This was one of my favorite episodes. Thank you Yuka.
Thank you for saying that 😁❤️
this was awesome great job on those jumps!
Yuka - you are an absolute beast. Also, I love the dynamic of support and encouragement you and Eric have.
" The wave of power from the atmosphere". Much respect for sharing that.
hey yuka, just wanted to say your vids are so addictive to watch keeping me interested every second of it, keep up the content 😄👍👍
I love the storytelling and sound design
YESSS so stoked for you both. Amazing riders, so glad Eric hit those jumps.
Me too😁✨
I’m sub’d and sticking around for a while. Perfect video.
Such a great channel concept! The skill vs bravery dynamic between you is really interesting. Well done both of you. I look forward to your next episode 👍👍 (ps when i say "skill vs bravery" i mean comparatively as you both clearly have these attributes in spades!)
Another GREAT video. Great job leading the boyz. And also just recognizing that MTB has both physical AND mental challenges that must be mastered.
great video....thanks for posting
Heck yeah! Nice work Eric!
Yuka is a great hype lady!
Heckkkk yea you guys killed it🤘🤘
Yuka is inspiring the world to be awesome!
It was awesome watching you guys clear those jumps!! Now I know why you had so many GoPro's and cameras hahaha
Awesome video! I'm so stoked that there's a lift access bike park at Hilltop now!
it's pretty new but they were building trails like crazy!
Woke up to a Van Girl Yuka video, now I know it's going to be a good day!
I hope you have a great day 😁
Awesome video!! Those jumps were always really hard to clear my first time as well, and I'm so glad that both of you were able to get them all in just one session, great job!
I still couldn’t clear the third one…very sad
Great to see Eric overcome his fears and achieve success on that jump line. Oddly enough, I find wooden lips easier to launch off of became they're solid and consistent unlike dirt lips which can vary based on weather conditions etc.
You go YUKA! Rocked the jumps!
Beautiful video
Excellent progress you two! Sometimes a little stoke goes a long way to helping other people level up. I remember the first time I did a large drop (Angel Fire)... watched a few times... got towed in.. and then just did it. I wouldn't have done it without help! While I was ready skill wise, mentally I wasn't quite there. Good on you for serving as inspiration!
Loved the whole video and commentary but it’s the last bit about failure and success that really stuck
What would that be?
Such a good video! I still have a very low desire to do jumps, cause I broke my hand on a micro jump once (and then I couldn't ride for a long time, I didn't care about the pain)... but that's ok I can have fun doing other stuff on the bike...
There is so much mental game to riding. I totally understand how your brain will need to Click before certain features. Stoked for Eric to have nailed those jumps! Sweet!
How do I double like? It was such a great moment when you guys called each other awesome!
Great stuff guys 🤩🤟🔥
I was a bit terrified to watch this video, but Yuka gave me muscles to push through it. 💪
I love how you rub in 106 times, I laughed everytime. Go Eric !!! you did it
it wasn't 20 times or 50 times. It was 106 times. oh Eric...
00:42 you guys met in the best way, and in my opinion the best place - New Zealand! 😎
We’d love to go back there again ✨
Good job Eric!! Yuka, you are good at your job! :)
Well done Yuka well you are fantastic
This was a great video!
Thank you Danica! I think you'll love that jump too😘
待ってました〜、JAPANからこんばんは😍
いつも和訳😁で楽しく拝見しています。もちろんエリックさんの動画もチェックしてますよ~。私のようなスキルアップコースレベル向けの動画も宜しくお願い致します🙏
Nice video, I can’t do that, so scared
Great video. You are an excellent story teller, Yuka. I always thought of you guys as an unstoppable force. It's inspirational to see seasoned riders overcome similar struggles. Makes me feel hopeful that I too will overcome the things that scare me.
I know you and Cory are hitting amazing stuff and that made me want to go ride there too👍✨
@@VanGirlYuka 😊
It's pretty cool that you guys were in anchorage. I live in anchorage and I bike the trail a lot. But it's been awhile. Pretty cool seeing you guys up here.
A great bike park! but it's just rain a lot in Anchorage area! ...I know this year was exceptionally rained a lot.
@@VanGirlYuka Yeah it has rained a lot this year. And hilltop is a really nice place to bike. I haven't got the chance to bike at the new bike park yet due to work. It would've been cool to meet you guys if I knee you guys were up here. I have watched most of your videos and BCPOV'S videos also. You guys are cool. Keep up the good work.
Erics laugh tells it all.....
i live right by the bike park and i did the first two on a 26 inch hard tail that is two sises to small with 100 mill travel i am sad that i missed you
you should defiantly check out Post Canyon in hood river Oregon
So cute :) pls upload more often
I fear the speed. As I go faster I start to tighten up. I like drops b/c the speed is slower. But to hurl myself skyward is scary. I have to committ to the speed.
Do you ride in a bike park? It’s the best place to get used to the speed👍
@@VanGirlYuka I am trying to get up to Sun Peaks more often to do this. I have the Ranch as well.
@@VanGirlYuka Had to do a follow-up. Had a cooker of a day yesterday at Sun Peaks. I was actually clearing a lot of blue jumps! My buddy confirmed it.
Felt good with speed until I was too fast for rollers, but wasn’t confident to try and double them. LOL! At the end of “Super Nugget” (new black line) I gleefully sent a hippy step-up…that turned out to be a 12-15’ gap. I clacked my poor suspension. LOL!!!
While sitting at my desk trying to get work done I had to watch your video. I wish I could be out riding
I hope you are out there and riding now 😁
Good job you guys! Remember, YUKAN DO IT!!👍😄😄😄
So SICK GOOD JOB !!!
Good job!
Yuka- you are my mtb hero!!!!!!
Yuka you are the greatest.
This is interesting to watch, because I have never thought about differentiating between wooden and dirt lips. Always thought that if the angle of the takeoff is good and the wood is sturdy then it just doesn't matter.
Probably it doesn't mater for many people. we just aren't used to them! I can't think of any jumps that has wooden lips in Whistler bike park (except Crankworks stunts) I kinda like them though...
@bcpov what was the step up in Texas location?
