@@Epicaviation47 Yea I was really bummed to hear when it happened. Tim and the entire Berlin Airlift Foundation are great folks. The New C-54 looks awesome though.
@@RichardFStripeRendezvous Interesting. Good reason, as quick turnaround was surely important in the war environment. I hated wood & fabric in A&P school. I'd rather buck some rivets or use Hi Loks. I wonder if aluminum was also rationed or less available or more precious during the war?
This is a very rare airplane 😱👌 I like it🤩😊

Awesome video, I was fortunate enough to see the old airframe a few times. I will hopefully catch this one soon.

Thanks frank it was amazing
That is a rare bird!
Indeed broo thanks for watching
Magnificent, beautiful, wonderful airplane! Why do many WWII aircraft have fabric control surfaces?
Great question
They used what was available back then
Lightweight and readily available! "Easy" to repair as well. On the DC-3, the control surfaces are fabric, but the trim tabs are metal!

@@crooked-halo Aluminum was very much rationed, the war department couldn't get enough of it!
