I saw your post on Reddit and was immediately exited to watch. I'm definitely going to follow your channel. Very pleasant, calm and thorough video. Keep up the amazing work!
The band really does make all the difference. My love of watches properly kicked into gear when I discovered the joys of ditching the bracelets for high-quality NATOs, and modifying them to be single-pass, when it better suits the watch. Plus, finding leather straps with a nice aged-finish and quick-change spring bars. Makes all the difference!
Thanks! This was just the info I needed to help me shop for bands for two new watches. There's one band that you didn't cover, probably because very few people use them anymore and that's the steel stretching or expanding bands. They were somewhat popular in the 70s. My dad is wearing the same stretch band on the same automatic that he bought in 1972. I once hinted that he might want a new watch, fishing for birthday present ideas. He said, "Why? This one still works." So yeah, he got a tie.
Loved your video !! The information on straps is certainly valuable and i love how you went into detail about the different qualities/variants of leather and straps :D
Excellent video. Very informative about different watch band materials like leather, rubber and metal. Also really good at explaining difference between bands and bracelets
I really love the 2 piece "seat belt" straps i have stumbled across. I wonder why they aren't much more popular. They are comfortable and often look pretty nice (less dressy than leather but nicer than standard nato/perlon) and relatively inexpensive.
The difference between alligator and crocodile are the scales pattern. Alligator has those bigger more “uniform” squares whereas crocodile has smaller circles and squares patterns that are of different sizes.
Glad to have discovered this channel. Finally a normal human is making videos on watches. Other channels are just too egoistic, pretentious, too consumed, or flat-out psychotic.
Exceptional video, almost no attention is given to the straps or bracelets, but they are essential to harmonize with a good watch, or to remove from the medianity to some of the half level. I'm glad to subscribe to your channel.
I would say a pro of rubber straps is that they are easy to clean and if you get other styles of rubber straps they are grooved to be more breathable but even if you do sweat in them at least (again) they are easy to wash clean.
Excellent video, lots of information on the types of watch straps. Only one thing did not seem to me, not to mention the plastic strap, I know it is cheap and ugly among other things, but you are talking about an important piece of an icon watch such as the casio f91w. Well, I think so.
Canvas and nylon straps have the added convenience that when they get dirty, you can throw them in the wash with your laundry. They will come out looking new. One caveat: If there is leather backing, let the strap air dry.
good video and comprehensive but you totally missed the alternative strap attachment. The one typical with a lot of bracelet watches with the lug in the centre and not on the edges. Can you talk about this type because I just bought one and struggling to find information on this type...
I dont know if others have the same problem with rubber/plastic straps. I tried many of them, but after a certain time, those strap tends to loose the elasticity, become hard and eventually break apart.
I have a black Hamilton viewmatic. The bracelet is pretty old, so I am looking for a leather strap as a replacement. Should I go for a black or dark brown leather?
There is at least one additional style of watch bracelet available: The Bonklip-style bracelet from the UK. Also made by Krementz in the USA in the 1940's and later by Forstner. This bracelet is again available from josephbonnie in the UK and Forstner in the USA. These bracelets are thin, light, flexible and extremely comfortable. They do not have the mass or presence of larger link style bracelets.
This is such a useful video! Thank you so much! I only have one question: the insulating leather strap was called “boon strap”? I apologise for asking but English is not my native language.
I recomend any time you get leather goods you condition the leather with mink oil or anything realated since most of these problems are solved becaused they are dry and you would be surprised how much a 2 euro can of leather conditioner helps.
11:35 Do you mean silicone? Silicon is a chemical element, and used to make microchips (thus Silicon Valley), whereas silicone is a synthetic polymer, used for making soft cooking utensils, lubrication, medical devices, and watch straps... but great, comprehensive content. I've seen plenty of videos on bands/straps and few show the difference between grades of leather, fabrics, etc.
Please give me your opinion about using nail polish (the kind that needs to be cured under UV/LED lights) to protect a steel watch from scratches. Also there’s something called Liquid Skin, but I’m not sure if that’s just an expensive nail polish. (I know that scratches add character but I’d still prefer to keep it unscratched). Thoughts?
I highly prefer a leather strap to almost anything else. All of my watches are on leather outside of my gshock. I typically put the bracelet in the box to retain resale value. However, I think I'll be trying out a canvas strap soon..just got to find the right watch.
I bought a watch that had tips come with it. They are Navaho hand crafted sterling silver tips. I was wondering if anyone could point me to some info on finding a band for it.
I didn't understand the word, shell, the horse rump strap band, he said it so fast and I've never heard this word before; that's what I want for a watch.

Your tone and personality makes this one of my favorite new watch channels. Much love!
Excellent presentation. Short, crisp and to the point.

Really thankful that you showed a Datejust with 3mm and 2mm. These are fine details that are incredibly valuable.

Yes, I quite like those old stretchy metal ones 🤓. Good call. Your dad is a very pragmatic guy👍
Smashing it Max, great video again. I love that every time you release a video it seems to have more views and you're getting more subscribers.

Thanks claude, glad you got something out of it. I learned a lot preparing for the video 🤓
Wow! This really is a definitive (though not exhaustive) guide! Very well done. Very economical and precise. 👋
Thanks Max, yeah I tried to keep it concise but it wasn't easy given the amount of variations out there 😬
I really love the 2 piece "seat belt" straps i have stumbled across. I wonder why they aren't much more popular. They are comfortable and often look pretty nice (less dressy than leather but nicer than standard nato/perlon) and relatively inexpensive.
Your vids are super well-made and very pleasing to watch!

Well said! Oh how many watches I've fell back in love with after a new band.
Great job mate
Great video! I am a strap addict, very informative and subscribed!
Thank you! Welcome to the channel 👍
Learned a lot from this! Thanks for the great info with the nice music 😊
Solid, informative content! I was hoping you could you share where the strap shown at 4:48 is from?
Thanks! That's from the wind up watch shop
Love the background music. What is it?
So well presnted
Also there are adapters to go from a narrow lug width, to a wider width, so that you can have a wider strap. Useful with lower end Casios…
Good ,and for myself, very timely, review.
Thank you!
Not only did I find my next band or two but, I learned a lot as well. Thanks twice lol
Nice video! Congrats!! I loved the engineering style bracelet. Perhaps, do you know which watch it is?
Thanks! Sorry Im not sure, just found that picture on Google 😉
Phenomenal video quality
Excellent explanation
Good vid! Glad I stumbled across your channel. Keep it up!
Thank you Herman! Welcome to the channel ;)

Love the video. Very informative. Do you have a video about pairing your watch with what color or kind of strap?
Great break down 👍
Thank you, it helped me organize my thoughts👍

Thanks! I think I actually very briefly showed plastic straps from an F91W, and quickly dismissed it ;)
Good job. Exelent content. 👍
Thanks Jacob 👍
Great video, your channel will definitely blow up soon. Also, make a state of the collection video please! :)
What an excellent video. Well done.

Información muy buena, gracias.
De nada amigo 😉
Very nice done!

I love leather bracelets, their nuances and models. Too bad the city where I live is so hot. Thanks for the video.
xeric ribbed leather straps and boldr or citizen eco drive ribbed canvas straps are very cool design too
Ribbed for his pleasure 😆 I've always wanted to try them! Thanks for the suggestion!

Excellent video...I was hoping to find information about curved end straps...sniff...but even without that it was all around a super video. Thanks
Thanks! Yeah seems curved end straps have gotten quite popular lately

So good 😊
You deserve more subs than TGV and JOMW

Great job!

Very informative.
Glad you got something out of it...a lot of misleading marketing out there.

Yes, I think silicon should be a bit better than rubber in how it ages
I have a black Hamilton viewmatic. The bracelet is pretty old, so I am looking for a leather strap as a replacement. Should I go for a black or dark brown leather?
I like the hybrid leather and rubber straps. They combine the best of both worlds.
Very nice video...you are pro

the spandex nato in this video is also known as a parachute strap : )
great video!
I'm getting into buying watch bands, and this is the exact breakdown I needed. Thank you!
You're welcome Michael, appreciate your feedback👌
Very Informative, Thanks !!!
great video! thanks
You're welcome! Glad it was useful
Looking for the best cooled strap between a nato and leather. Which would you recommend on a budget?
I can't stand it when a watch sticks around the wrist..
Is fabric/canvas or a certain type of leather best for breathability?
perlon is probably the coolest, metal is cold, nato next. Leather gets hot, and rubber is the worst!
@@WatchCrunchOfficial thank you!
This is such a useful video! Thank you so much!

Why are 21mm straps so hard to find? For many who state that it is simply an ‘unusual design size’ is rather silly and not justifiable. Any thoughts?
I think 21mm straps are like narwhals, they exist but no one has ever seen one. I'd just get a 20 or 22 and make it fit
Ill make a 21. Check my insta. @seanh863. Double layer veg tan hand cut and stitched.
Well, why would a manufacturer make a run of something that will barely be bought by anyone?
Hey would you say a grey or green strap goes with a white dial watch.
I highly prefer a leather strap to almost anything else. All of my watches are on leather outside of my gshock. I typically put the bracelet in the box to retain resale value. However, I think I'll be trying out a canvas strap soon..just got to find the right watch.
I highly recommend the canvas strap from strapcode. It's not cheap but comes with a deployant.
@@WatchCrunchOfficial Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check them out

what brand is that "other variation of aviation strap"? the one after the flieger strap please?
Acrylic Glass & Nylon Strap Watch
It luks Trendy & Casual
Can u were steel bracelet loose or should it be tighter
Wear it how is comfy for you. I like it tighter
Hello, is there any problem if you install a 23mm strap to a 24mm watch ??
Did that Cordovan have padding or underlining? I bought one at etcy but it has nothing on the bottom part and I'm not sure if that's right or not :(((
handsome, relaxed, informative. subscribed

I prefer to wear leather in winter and metal bracelet in summer on my watches.
Yes the metal really helps in hot weather.
@@WatchCrunchOfficial Yes i felt that could have mentioned that nylon straps can be preferable in summer as less sweaty, washable etc.
