The wise ones, the mystics, the sages and the visionaries have always told us that God is everywhere and in everything. We simply need to take away the edges of everything we see and let God spill over. An Abhanga is a type of devotional poetry that conveys the same sentiment. Sant Namdev too was one amongst these wise people. He is ecstatic in his vision of Vitthala, his ishta-devata, in everything. And he writes this song to express that very bliss. In this hypnotic abhanga, he says ‘Vithtala is God and Vitthala is His worship. Vitthala is my mother and Vitthala is my father. Vitthala is my friend and Vitthala is my clan’
