This lady is a genius in this storming and rough global times. Her partita does not show up or looking for more attention. You hear every single note clear and she’s painting the spirit of the composer. The 2bd Chopin- sonata was one of the very best I heard in the last 4 decades. Not too fast but moreover deeply inspired and matured. For me, she is legally the next generation on the same level like Aturo Benedetti Michelangeli and Maurizio Polini! Thank you so much for having you in this world!
Nullllllll!
NUl !
Incredible. Absolutely incredible., Ms. Beatrice Rana! Your most natural attraction to the piano is a blessing to us all. Bravo! I enjoyed your interview where you talk about your musical family and when you started to play piano at age 3. I listen to your Chopin's Op. 25 no. 1 to get one of the most current, skillful, and profound interpretations of the piece, as I am currently studying it. Thank you for sharing your talent and skillful work of art! My favorite part is from "41:20" thru "45:33" - definately - for sure!
Semplicemente fantastica! Meravigliosa
Bravo, felicitaciones!!!!!
Such a divine pianist. Beyond words. And I don't think I have ever seen one with such efficient fingers and hands that seem to move with complete grace.
It’s not simple beauty. It has very deep emotion in it.
BRAVISSIMA Beatrice, esecuzione travolgente, affascinante, drammatica e poetica, scavata in ogni suo inciso.

Bravissima.
I was there for the performance of the Prokofiev 2. I was speechless.
Christopher Morris I didn't hear all of the concertos that year but her Prok 2 was definitely stunning! Did you make it to other rounds?

right on, the 9th was awesome!
Oh wow. I was in tears at the end of the Bach Gigue. Such beauty and touch. The Chopin reminded me of the many voices in Schubert's "Erlkonig". She finds the inner voices of Chopin and the struggles he must have had. Such emotion she brings out in her playing. An absolutely wonderful artist.
The video is slightly behind the recording. This is annoying! And that hiss. Come on, Cliburn. You can do better!
Don't know about just hiss - the audio gets pretty horrible when things get complex or noisy. Seems overloaded to me. Maybe mics were too far from piano too, so sound is messy/echoey. A painful listen at times.
Yes, the recording's sound is bad!
She’s like from a hundred years ago..in the best sense, of course.
Eccezionale. Bach fantasmagorico
I just heard Beatrice Rana perform Mozart's Piano Concerto #9 at Disney Music Hall. She was amazing - such musicality and virtuosity! She received a standing ovation. She is the most gifted artist who makes everything she plays sound so fresh and sumptuous.
Agree. I've heard her Friday morning and during the intermission bought tickets for another performance on Sunday. Once in a lifetime Mozart.
such beautiful playing! and what a wonderful Steinway!
Beautiful touch, under the circumstances, that she played the Liszt-Schumann Widmung (which Van Cliburn played peerlessly) as an encore.
Meraviglioso Bach, Meravigliosa artista Beatrice!
One of the really special ones. ❤
meravigliosa, che grande, affascinante pianista già formata
Beatrice is a rare and deeply insightful pianist. Her interpretation of the Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 2 is the most romantic of them all, and she knows, also, when to turn up the heat. She is an "Avis Rara."
+Francis Cummings romantic prokofiev!!! im sure prokofiev would be pleased with that adjective!
+Francis Cummings I'm not sure Prokofiev intended his pieces to be played romantically...
liking ur own comment navin! SAME!
She put her unique insight into Prokofiev Piano Concerto No.2. Actually I want to hear some special interpretations from pianists nowadays. To me Beatrice Rana's playing is fresh and tasteful!
Bach was a jazzy composer, as we can hear again... thanks to a young player with the wisdom of a veteran..
Agreed, and the best example I can think of is the finale of the first flute sonata in B flat - in fast triple time, it "swings"!
Great pianist !
Beatrice is one of the most gifted and talented young pianist in Italy, I wish her the greatest success for her career hoping that she will not forget her homeland. As I am italian I am so proud of this brilliant young artist! Bravissima!
Beautiful....
Belissimo recital, parabens para a Pianista Beatrice Rana. grande interprete, 01-10-2018-Sg-07:02hs-AM.- Sao Paulo-Brasil, Carapicuiba-Cidade Ariston.-

Wonderful! I am speechless!

a secret.
There is now a recording of Prokofiev2, with Warner Classics.
Magnifica
Senza dubbio la migliore pianista italiana d'oggi.
+Valeria Cantoni Sicuramente.

great
OTTIMO! GRAZIE!
Incredibly gifted!
Prokofiev must have had a belly-ache when he composed.

To hell with that audience. They're dead and they don't really appreciate this great performance.
Ausgesichnet!
Incredible
28:37 - 29:00
geniale!!
I don't agree. On the contrary! By changing the 8th notes of the right hand into triples, like the notes in the left hand, she completely destroys the polyrhythm that is essential for the continuity of the movement while still allowing for the dramatic effect of this musical climax. I think this is an alteration of the score, which I believe is terrible! Chopin would have absolutely hated this performance.
Rana has the rare gift of making you float on the lines she spins. The Sarabande of the Bach Partita is magical and she cocoons us in the middle section of the second movement of the Chopin, though somehow she misses the serene transcendence of the central section of the Funeral March, which needs to be absolutely even to float off the keyboard. Her tempi in the first movement are surely too extreme for it to hang together as it needs to, but the finale is wonderful - sotto voce it's marked and sotto voce she plays it. (I think the muddiness is due to the recording rather than the piano, Rana or Chopin.)
In the Prokofiev (which starts at 1:11:49, by the way), she takes no prisoners: the first movement development section is taken at a hair-raising speed, as is the finale, where both would gain from a more measured but relentless approach, but once again it's her ability to mould lyrical phrases that most impresses; the third movement (despite some memory flutters) emerges in Rana's hands as one of the composer's most emotional outpourings - both poignant and passionate. The highlight of the recital. Bravo!
I don't know what Chopin wanted, but I would prefer the finale with out pedal, I think.
Chopin does indicate in the score that it should be used. Many people use a half pedal to keep it from getting too soupy.
@@lagunagreg4019 the instrument had evolved a lot since his time. We can use the pedal less or more that he would have because of this.
@@republiccooperAlso, the Bach should be transposed down a half step to reflect what would have been heard in his day.
She's fabulous!!! And I rarely say that about pianists being classically trained myself. What a gem :D
After a few minutes I guessed Scarlatti but then it was Bach... evidently I have something to learn. How happy I am.
🙏 ❤
Más que esxtraordinaria!
sublime
she is a joy to hear
Why the intermission?
What do you mean? In the video? I think it was left in because it was broadcast live and unedited.
Simpin for this girl. Not ashamed to admit it 🥵
I hope before I will perform these wonderful pieces very soon.
Is it the recording quality that makes this sound a bit muddy, with many missed notes? I love the musicality, but I find that with the tempo changes and the slightly slower tempo overall (1st movement) that she loses the "sweep" of the piece. I will hear her at Duke on Friday night, so I should be able to tell a little more about these things then, although that hall is too live and I might not be able to answer the "muddy" question.
Missed notes? Where exactly?

She's a devout, but not yet a divine.
Maybe one day? Devotion hopes for divinity. I hope for her
What a pompous, self inflating, yet meaningless comment. Congratulations!
massive dynamic range compression. Is this available somewhere with good audio? She's a great player!
One of the prizes for the top 4 winners is a commercial recording with international distribution, so you should be able to get it sometime.
I wish she played slower. Chopin pieces are best played a little slower because they have beautiful melodies. It's easy to lose the delicate tones when the keys played rapidly. It becomes a puddle of sounds. Maybe im wrong. i don't know. But the piano piece was executed well. Just wish she took her time. Too fast for me. I used to like fast piano pieces. Then my taste changed. I like slow and melodic
So true! You're comments are the truth! Fast can be bad.
"Thought the gifted young paladiner pulling off chopin in b minor, I didn't even mention bach displayed her true panache. By the time she's thirty years of wisdom, she'll have played with more than enough reconnoitre as a world class luminarist for all to applaud. The rising and crossover of the performer's hands I found simply a necromattically fesiance delivered."
In my ears, it is exactly what she is doing. She plays melodies not keys!! She takes time and has a feeling of dramatic timing. The room is big, though, and there is a certain acoustic lag which might be confused with fast playing...
that right thumbnail is gnarly
the Bach is out to lunch, which is what happens when personality is put before the score plus the absence of a teacher able to guide the poor girl out of her questionable, stray, musicality,
