- Want to paint your kitchen units, not sure how to clean them down? Don't over complicate it. Here I show you an easy way to prepare your kitchen units for painting.
Cleaning kitchen units for painting doesn't need to be hard.
These are previously painted kitchen units that I'm cleaning down ready for a new coat of paint (well two coats). Having been done about 5years ago, they are ready for another coat of paint to freshen them up. Same paint - Farrow and Ball, same colour Vert De Terre #234 in Modern Eggshell.
Solid paint for kitchen units!!

Great video and thanks Phil.
A couple of questions mate as I'm going to be doing my first one in the next few months, I see you are using f&b modern eggshell. On some forums I've noticed they use f&b estate eggshell. What's the difference?
Also,
When you brush the infill panels, why don't you use a micro fibre or felt roller?
Appreciate the videos, looking forward to number 2 👍🏻
Hi ya. You watched the video on Farrow and Ball I did with the lovely Iwona?
Modern Eggshell is the harder finish, slight sheen. Can wipe down easier. It's the new name for what F&B used to call Floor Paint.
That's what was used on units in F&B showrooms... It's a hard finish.
Estate eggshell... Is a dryer finish.
Personal choice.
Just make sure you use f&b primer UC. Then two top finish coats.
If a grip primer is needed... Use one from Tikkurila.. otex akva etc.. then go over that with the f&b UC. It's compatible.
Roller... No need. I don't like a roller finish on areas like that. They're not big large areas and it didn't take long to brush all the kitchen... A few hours.
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator thanks for the info. I remembered the f&b video when you mentioned it. That was very good.
Yes I'm going to need a adhesion primer. I seen the Otex mentioned the most so I will give that a go. It's a solid grained wood kitchen so will need a good few coats to get into the grain. 👍🏻
@@danielwoolcock7267 if real solid wood. Go with Otex (oil) it'll hold off any staining from the wood. Then work from that.
The grain added effect, don't try to fill it.
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator ok thanks. 👍🏻
No time for cake get the graft done cake when finished 👏😂😂
Looking forward to the painting Phil 👍
Just finishing the 2nd coat now. Looks a lot cleaner and fresher.
Have to say the F&B modern eggshell goes on so well. First coat was nice and dry and hard this morning.
Can't say I've had any problems using f&b.
I bet u wouldnt like his quote he charges 300 pound a day for 1 man
Nice one👍👍
I was working in a medical clinic and I used a bleach mix to clean behind the toilets because I had to get really close to paint behind them and the nurses really complained about the smell until the next day when they said that for once they were not afraid to use them! Kitchens require a lot of cleaning before painting.
Smells and feels better once cleaned properly ;)
👍👍 ThAnks for the video
My pleasure!!
great Phil ,Jack f
