Many thanks. A well-presented review and a most welcome change from the many boastful videos in which the uploader shouts "look at me (and my boyfriend, children, whatever) travelling first class, eating and drinking whatever we can and getting our complimentary massage" supported by film of themselves some of which must have been taken by cabin crew).
Eddie Khoo it’s standard for F passengers to be escorted to their seat - the only exception is if in doing so the FA would leave the boarding door empty of staff. It’s a nice touch. ;)
This is one of the better flight product reviews I've seen. Enjoyed the review, the duration taken to scan the menus, the detail in general, and the background music also. BA's first seems more like a gussied up business class, but I guess for the price it's great, sort of like a 'business++'. SQ is in another league altogether, though at another price point, as you say. Great job, Eddie, and I look forward to your next review!
Excellent review Eddie! I think I will stay with Singapore Airlines on this route. You just can't beat the Singapore cabin service! As always, take care and Happy Travels! ♥️🛫🗺
Agreed with your comments John. However, BA are much cheaper than SQ on SYD-LHR. If I'm short on cash, I'll have to fly BA 1st unfortunately (first world problem!!!!) :p
It's like a frog in slowly boiling water....they slowly chip away at a first class product, then it becomes a business class-like product but you still think it's first ;)

BA's First Class lounge at Heathrow is so lacking in class when compared to Air France, Lufthansa, and Swiss. For the price and the taxes that must be paid, it's simply not worth it. Sad.
It is now because of the coronavirus sales. Even if it was to travel in a year or something, it’s cheaper to fly business class with BA for 3 people than economy with Emirates for 3 people
Thanks Eddie for another comprehensive professional report. I love your attention to detail. Too bad BA doesn't serve any Australian wine on this flight.

I agree Pierre. For the price-sensitive first class flyer, BA definitely offers good value for money. One can save $4000 AUD return on this product instead of flying on Emirates or Qantas. The savings can (almost) overlook the lack of a proper suite, shower experience, caviar or Dom perignon champagne ;)

BA has some issues right now and are not as good imo with thier business product as many other European airlines. Cheers. Just subscribed to your channel. I appreciate your humility in filming this.

I agree with most comments on here about other airlines but the price is still very reasonable and often similar to other airlines business product. One thing I found with ba first is the service has always been excellent.
Interesting comment Yannis. The time I flew this route, BA were 33% cheaper than Emirates and Qantas, and 15% cheaper than Singapore Airlines. But I agree that if the airlines were equally priced, BA would be right at the bottom of choice ;)
Hats off Eddie ....... Totally mind-blowing work. Can't expect more than this. Did you pay the whole price or with Flight points ??? British Airways First Class is actually a nice product indeed. I love the first class lounge (The Concorde). I suggest you should also try out Air India First Class on long haul flights like Mumbai(BOM)-New York(JFK). I am sure you can give it a try.
I can try AI on flights from Australia to India (and perhaps beyond), but I have so many others that I still have yet to sample (Eg. Qatar, Thai, China Airlines, ANA, etc). Anyways, to answer your question - I paid for this flight, which is a substantial amount but significantly cheaper than the competitors (Eg. SQ, EK, QF). The product is reasonable for First Class, but it can't compare with those who charge a premium for their FC product.
@@eddiekhoo2046There is a flight between New Delhi (DEL) and Sydney (SYD) operated by Air India but that does not have a First Class product. And anyways the other airlines are also quite good in fact. Ok , will see your next first class flights, anyways they are awesome. No complaints about it. Let's see which first class flight you are flying next.
You're welcome Rod. I know some say BA's first class is really a souped-up business class....but I felt the entire journey to be rather pleasant, and in a way first class :)
I'm not Eddie, and I don't do First internationally (price!). I have flown Air France First Class, and it was spectacular, way beyond what Mr Khoo has shown here. As I posted above, I've flown Qatar Houston to Singapore in Business. 27 hours of flying, and if I could have remained on board for another 10 hours, you wouldn't have heard a complaint from me. That said, on my return trip, Qatar bumped me and rebooked me on Singapore, Business out of Singapore to Manchester UK, then on to Houston. It is hard to complain about anything that Singapore offers, but it most definitely is not on par with Qatar. They have my business for a very long time, assuming they stay in business and I stay alive, times being what they are!
I did the spa on a different flight, and I don't think I missed much - the massage I had on the other flight was pretty bad quality. The Qantas spa is more luxurious, professional and better quality IMO
SQ >>> QF > BA. BA wins on price though. At least $4000 cheaper than QF (and $2500 cheaper than SQ). SQ is the best as there's several flights to choose from, and you can fly the 777 and A380 with various F class products to sample :)
The seat is like some airline's business class seat. Look, it's alright and the food/drinks sure make up for it. But one reason for me flying BA first class (apart from trying it for the first time and reviewing it) is that it is significantly cheaper than Emirates/Singapore Airlines. This would be the deal breaker for the price-conscious first class traveller (if that makes sense.... :) )
Hi Anthony, thanks for your view and comment. I did notice caviar were served in some of the dishes, but not as a stand-alone like on EK or SQ. The portions also were very small. But anyways, BA is 33% cheaper than EK/SQ/QF so what do you expect ;) Take care and stay tuned for part 2 of the journey!
BA First doesn't hold a candle to Qatar Business to Asia. Half the sets on my flight were non-revs who chatted with the cabin crew at the expense of the passengers. I went back to flying trans-Atlantic with AA Business. The catering, wines and lounge weren't as good (use the CX lounge at LHR rather than AA), but at least the seats & service were good.
Yeah, BA isn't what it used to be. Their First is pretty much a Business Plus. Their Business is like a fancy Premium Economy product. Many other better airlines to fly IMO
Things you would never hear on a G3 Carrier, or Singapore; "We're sorry the Spa is Closing so no complimentary 15 minute massage for you dude" "We're sorry, the Jaguars are all in repair, so we won't be driving you today from The Concorde Lounge to your Ride; please leave an extra 30 mins to join the great unwashed on the T5 Train from 5A to 5B" "I'm sorry, I (Elizabeth) had no idea 3k is actually on the Starboard side of the bus" "Please enjoy our restroom, same as steerage but you'll smell nicer" "We don't include internet access to those 1st PAX who just paid £12k for their ticket, but we do accept Visa/MC debit/credit at a rock bottom price of £40 for the duration of your flight. Thank god the cucumbers and baked beans were magnificent though !!!!!! I hope you didn't part with any of your hard earned cash for this disaster.
Some very good points raised Ian. The BA First Class product is certainly not refined like various premium carriers, but given that they were $5000 cheaper, I can (with much restraint) look the other way on some of these imperfections. Anyways, it's heaps better than what BA calls "business class" ;)
LHR-SIN, one way, one passenger, first class, $8300. with tax. And they wouldn't give the guy a quick massage in the lounge? It will be a cold day in July before I book a "first class" ticket with BA! That said, either you or your boss got ripped off price wise. About 1 month prior to your journey, I flew Houston (Texas) to Singapore on Qatar, business class (my credit card). The round trip was under $3000., not a small sum to be sure. My private, door enclosed business class suite was more spacious than your BA seat (which I'm sorry to say looks like standard business class with everyone else), service was spectacular, food was spectacular, not that the BA menus were anything to be sneezed at. Restaurant/lounge service in connecting Doha was absolutely elegant. Only one choice of single malt on a British aircraft? You've got to be kidding me! At least they served Tanqueray 10! It was a lovely video, but seriously, next time you have to fly to Singapore, assuming they let us in anytime in the near future, try Qatar in Business Class, and pocket the thousands and thousands of pounds sterling.
Hey eddie pls work with ur camera stabilization equipment and the rest is good....video is kind of very shaky while walking...and artificial light photos too..kind of missing details....good luck...
Thanks for the feedback James. I don't know how new the plane was, but I could tell it's definitely not new! The cabin walls had scuff marks and some seats in the cabin looked tired. I think BA's first class product is due for an overhaul...hope they can pull something off revolutionary like they did for Club World :)
It’s utterly ridiculous to charge First passengers for WiFi! If I’d paid that much money/miles for a flight, it’s feel like a slap in the face. IT’S 2019 BA!!!
Given the upgrades made to Club World on the A350, they really need to up the design of 1st class. If they had this 1st class with the new CW on the same plane, I don't think the price difference is justifiable....
Thanks for a great video. I've done this route via Frankfurt with Lufthansa in 1st but debating whether to use BA next time to say connecting but Lufthansa first is pretty impressive for the same money as BA want so am tempted to stick with Lufthansa!
I've never tried LH first class before...but I'm keen to try. BA surprisingly was the cheapest of all the major carriers. At least $2000-3000 cheaper than the next competitor.
Eddie Khoo ... IMHO, Lufthansa First Class is really special. I usually fly Lufthansa from the States to Zurich to see my Sister and return on Swiss First just because I want to get home without delay. You owe it to yourself Eddie to sample it. Safe travels ✈️
As the comment always goes "BA First Class is the worlds best business class by a mile" The servings are really stingy. Did they offer soup and cheese as well which you declined or could you not have those if you had starter and the other desert?
I really dont think some people get the whole BA thing. They really dont need to compete with ME carriers etc and therefore dont even attempt to. Most of their business is trans-Atlantic working crowd. They get away with it due to their huge route network and being significantly cheaper than the competition like on this route.
Ah, but when you have to use the loo at 0 clock in the morning, you aren't climbing over 1-2 dead weight, semi comatose bodies. Aisle access it beyond priceless.
Thanks for the view and comment Glen. I agree with your comment about flying SQ...but when I flew this trip, BA were $2000 cheaper than SQ. I guess for the cost-conscious traveller, this may make the difference. Anyways, had to try this to let me viewers get my take on BA First :)

I agree. They are one of the best airlines to fly. I wish though that they had chauffeur drive service, beefed up the private room to have a spa, and had more routes with F cabin :)
I want to forget this BA 15 flight as soon as possible. Very bad service, cheap food and not tasty, even the English breakfast which normally I really appreciate it, was tasteless. Toilets not clean, no paper left before landing in Singapore. No information on my screen during the whole flight. I did ask 3 times to reconnect it. I could see that I was not the only passenger with this problem. No space around the seat. Look like business class seat. No door to give you some privacy. Many passengers snoring around me that night. British Airways has to improve a lot.
Oh dear, sounds like you had a truly dreadful experience! Fortunately my experience did not get close to yours....perhaps it's a one off event? Has this happened again on another BA flight as well???? :s
@@eddiekhoo2046 No it never happened before with BA. I will fly back SIN/LHR with them on a A380 on 21 January 2020. Maybe I will be happy again with this company.
BA 15 uses a mixed fleet crew which are younger, lower paid crew on newer contracts, whereas your LHR/SIN A380 flight will use the older crew on legacy wages. While they may not be as energetic, I'm sure they have the experience to keep you pampered throughout that flight. Take care!
I’m sorry, is it just me, or does the British Airways first class experience just feel...meh? Everything just felt tatty and cheap. When you compare the BA first class seating to those of other airlines, it feels like they need a serious overhaul. It’s like they have not progressed, and it all seems very dark and uninviting. Like there is no style, or class. BA seems to be in a very big creative rut.
BA's First Class seat is pretty much a Business Class seat on other airlines plus some extra bells and whistles. BA does tick the boxes when it comes to providing a FC product, but it can't compare with premium airlines such as EK or SQ. Anyways, their fares can be considerably cheaper than their competitors so in that situation I'm OK to overlook their deficiencies.
BA's first class looks like Business Class...!!! Pathetic airline, and I wonder how they are getting away with poor service, poor cabins and very poor biz & first class offerings...!!! The halo effect is well and truly slipping, and the airline will face considerable difficulties and will probably go under....and they only have themselves to blame...!!!
It's a glorified business class. They get away with it because they can unfortunately. Luckily it's priced competitively compared to first class on other airlines - get what you pay for I guess.
Thanks Patrick. Hope you've managed to check out my other First Class reviews, such as my recent videos on Emirates, Qantas and Singapore Airlines. Take care! :)

Great review Eddie, you certainly captured the first class experience!
You're welcome Rod. I know some say BA's first class is really a souped-up business class....but I felt the entire journey to be rather pleasant, and in a way first class :)
@Eddie Khoo how would you rate BA (British airways) first class to thiers competitor as Lufthansa, Swiss Amarican airlines Singapore airlines?
1st world problem i know, but BA's spa and cabanas always seem to be fully booked suggesting they need to increase potential capacity.
I did the spa on a different flight, and I don't think I missed much - the massage I had on the other flight was pretty bad quality. The Qantas spa is more luxurious, professional and better quality IMO
how does the flight compare iwth Singapore or Quantas? Wow love the english breaKfast
SQ >>> QF > BA. BA wins on price though. At least $4000 cheaper than QF (and $2500 cheaper than SQ).
SQ is the best as there's several flights to choose from, and you can fly the 777 and A380 with various F class products to sample :)
I have watched enough First and Business Class reviews to be abel to say we're at 1:51 - where does the First Class part begin?
"First Class". In name only I guess? :s
Love your attention to detail Eddie. Keep up the good work :)
Cheers Brett. Stay tuned for the review of the onward flight to Sydney. Take care! :)
Great review .. food and drinks look awesome at the lounge and plane .. but BA 777 first class downside is the seat is outdated and small
@@eddiekhoo2046 if it's a good deal I'll choose it too
Eddie you have never made a bad video
Awww...thanks Oscar! Means a lot to me :)
Absolutely love traveling that you do fantastic simply love it thank you From Peter Taylor Lara,Victoria near Geelong 😃
You're welcome Peter. Really appreciate your support of my channel and VLOGS. Take care! :)
I see BA has removed the caviar.
It's First product is all around good, and it should - be given the price.
Good video for the most part.
Hi Anthony, thanks for your view and comment.
I did notice caviar were served in some of the dishes, but not as a stand-alone like on EK or SQ. The portions also were very small. But anyways, BA is 33% cheaper than EK/SQ/QF so what do you expect ;)
Take care and stay tuned for part 2 of the journey!
Oh no. Maybe next time, you’ll get that spa appointment.
I've had the Elemis spa treatment on another flight....to be honest, the quality of the massage was pretty meh :s
Eddie Khoo Noted.
Love how they rebranded "Sex on the Beach" as "Beachbound", presumably to avoid offending people.
Things you would never hear on a G3 Carrier, or Singapore;
"We're sorry the Spa is Closing so no complimentary 15 minute massage for you dude"
"We're sorry, the Jaguars are all in repair, so we won't be driving you today from The Concorde Lounge to your Ride; please leave an extra 30 mins to join the great unwashed on the T5 Train from 5A to 5B"
"I'm sorry, I (Elizabeth) had no idea 3k is actually on the Starboard side of the bus"
"Please enjoy our restroom, same as steerage but you'll smell nicer"
"We don't include internet access to those 1st PAX who just paid £12k for their ticket, but we do accept Visa/MC debit/credit at a rock bottom price of £40 for the duration of your flight.
It’s not BA’s fault if a First Class passenger doesn’t reserve a time for the Spa treatment as advised.
Great video
Thanks Jayden! Hopefully will get part 2 of the video online soon (the onwards flight to Sydney)
This looks more like a Business Class to me!
What's the cost of flying
At the time of booking, the return flight from Sydney to London was $10,000 AUD.
It was a lovely video, but seriously, next time you have to fly to Singapore, assuming they let us in anytime in the near future, try Qatar in Business Class, and pocket the thousands and thousands of pounds sterling.
thats a quite good business class seat
Haha. Many say BA F is really a super business class product....true in some respect
I'll consider this, but the 1st class lounge service at Heathrow is very discouraging.
It was OK. The service on the day was attentive but not intrusive.
Eddie simply awesome video
Thank you Shayne! Will have the ongoing review of Singapore-Sydney online soon :)
Hey eddie pls work with ur camera stabilization equipment and the rest is good....video is kind of very shaky while walking...and artificial light photos too..kind of missing details....good luck...
Sai, I use a GoPro for when I'm walking around. It's strapped to my backpack so that's why it's shaky. Apologies for that. Take care :)
Whats the name of the music at 5-48?
There's the links to the music on the video description page Grant :)
Nice video!
Is this a new BA 777-300ER?
Thanks for the feedback James. I don't know how new the plane was, but I could tell it's definitely not new! The cabin walls had scuff marks and some seats in the cabin looked tired. I think BA's first class product is due for an overhaul...hope they can pull something off revolutionary like they did for Club World :)
I dunno, the detail and finish is just not there! Ofc BA if you want to send me a free First return, I'll give my own experience opinion :D
Lol. You'll be waiting a long time for BA to send you that experience... :p
It’s utterly ridiculous to charge First passengers for WiFi! If I’d paid that much money/miles for a flight, it’s feel like a slap in the face. IT’S 2019 BA!!!
Yeah, it's pretty petty at the end of the day when you're paying > $10k for the fare....and the wifi is only $30-40 :s
Kind friends, if you're able to pause the video at 6:21, take a look at those welcomng BA employees!
Lol. Caught them off guard!
well, the lounge becomes a bit shabby....and the 1class is a mere BC comparing with other decent airlines
Given the upgrades made to Club World on the A350, they really need to up the design of 1st class. If they had this 1st class with the new CW on the same plane, I don't think the price difference is justifiable....
Bridget Jones’ Baby. Good choice. 😬
Haha. I couldn't find anything else to watch :D
Eddie Khoo It’s a good choice nonetheless.
As the comment always goes "BA First Class is the worlds best business class by a mile"
The servings are really stingy.
Don’t like my seat in that position makes me feel like I’m in the aisle
Ah, but when you have to use the loo at 0 clock in the morning, you aren't climbing over 1-2 dead weight, semi comatose bodies. Aisle access it beyond priceless.
No Thanks, If i had the Money i would fly with Singapore Airlines in First Class, Poor Old BA just doesn't compare. Great Video.
@@eddiekhoo2046 I totally Agree with you, But if one can Afford such Luxury, Whats an Extra $2000. I hope one day you can Fly the Residence on Etihad Airlines like Sam Chui did, i will enjoy watching that. But having flown SQ so many times over the years from 1986 til now, Nothing comes close not even Qantas... And i worked for them 14 years. :-)
ACTUALLY THE LOUNGE LOOKS LIKE A SHOW ROOM AT A FURNITURE STORE 🏬 LOL 😂 BUT NICE 👍 HOPE YOU HAD A OVERALL GREAT 👍 TRIP . GOOD WORK JUST SUBSCRIBED
Compared to Emirates and Etihad 'BA First' looks like Economy. Video is First Class as always.
Lol. Bit extreme! :p
At least dinner was worthy.
You didn't think much for breakfast Pedro???
@@eddiekhoo2046 breakfast was superb! But as an Spaniard, for us a coffee and a toast soaked in olive oil is more than enough.
Longing a new chapter, my friend!
Have been here several times, LHR-ATL. Meh.
cool
You spend all that money on a First ticket and they dont give you free wifi 😒
SA better in service ✈
South African Airways? That's an airline that I need to try! :)
@@eddiekhoo2046 SA means Singapore Airlines ✈ .don't try u go dry . F L Y .bye 😊
I agree. They are one of the best airlines to fly. I wish though that they had chauffeur drive service, beefed up the private room to have a spa, and had more routes with F cabin :)
@@eddiekhoo2046 well noted. 👍✈
You can put some food away
I should also bring a takeaway bottle to take away the Laurent-Perrier champagne :p
Take care!
You should have flown Emirates or Singapore Airlines instead.
I have Abhijit and made reviews on them. Please check them out too! :)
No free WiFi? Such stingy airline!
Lol. They aren't the only ones! Anyways, the prices aren't too unreasonable. Plus they offer a high speed option for watching Netflix.
Free wifi is now available for all customers travelling in first
I’m sorry, is it just me, or does the British Airways first class experience just feel...meh?
Not a 1st seat at all. Mediocre business seat at best
The crappers are crappy
That's crap...
@@eddiekhoo2046 yes, the first youtuber who actually replies to their viewers
BA's first class looks like Business Class...!!! Pathetic airline, and I wonder how they are getting away with poor service, poor cabins and very poor biz & first class offerings...!!!
The halo effect is well and truly slipping, and the airline will face considerable difficulties and will probably go under....and they only have themselves to blame...!!!
It's a glorified business class. They get away with it because they can unfortunately. Luckily it's priced competitively compared to first class on other airlines - get what you pay for I guess.
Great video
Thanks Patrick. Hope you've managed to check out my other First Class reviews, such as my recent videos on Emirates, Qantas and Singapore Airlines. Take care! :)
