    Thanks for making and sharing this. This system makes me think of two similar things. First, maybe obvious, is RockShox "Brain" seen on some of the higher end Specialized bikes. This seems more complex, and more user accessible. The second is likely roots this system has in the older Formula 1 Active Suspension system, which was banned in 1994.

    Thank you so much for making this video. I just purchased a very slightly used Pivot Firebird with the Live Valve> I didn't hear too many good reports from the original version but it is wonderful to hear that the refresh has been so effective. Happy Trails!!

    I’ve had no issues and I have it on my my Giant Reign Advanced Pro 1. Loving it for the past year. I keep it in Open Mode if there is jumps and drops. Works perfect. Only firms up the rear shock when climbing or peddling flat ground. You can change the sensitivity in the menus on each mode. If I’m on a flow trail with very little jumps I put it in sport or firm with higher sensitivity.

    I am not normally a early adopter but I pulled the trigger on a Trance E+ 0 with Live valve and been really happy with the system. Running it mainly in comfort mode and climb mode same as you. So far its been reliable and I honestly have not noticed the clicking too much.

      I have the e+0 also and flipping love it! Did a 35 miles on it today and was playing around with live valve abit as my phones mounted on the bars! Most of the settings are quite subtle changes but you can really tell the difference when switching it to comfort or open! Instantly soaks up the sharp hits you would normally get on firm suspension!! Love it

      Also I think the solanoid only clickes when you manually change the settings otherwise mine doesn’t click?? Does yours?

    I have the same Combo as you, Trance X Adv Pro 1 with Live Valve. Agree, for me it is fire and forget on the trail. The bike is FAST and soaks up any grief I give it. My only concern is steep Climbing on smooth tarmac roads (to get to the trails...) When I sit the front fork stays locked out, so max pedalling efficiency. BUT, when I stand on the bike to put more power through it and attack the climb, the fork starts to bob so power being wasted. Any advice? I wish there was a manual lockout option, just for this scenario.... though I am willing to believe I am missing something really obvious.

      You could run it in the firm setting as well as dial in the compression on the adjuster. Could help.

    I just don't understand why they didn't do it like sram where default is open. Seems the wrong way around on the fox stuff.

    So to change the settings from say climb to comfort etc, do you have to stop, get out your phone and go into the app? Or is there a controller somewhere on the bike to change it as you ride?

    • @bikersedge
      @bikersedge  Рік тому +1

      For those setting you have to use the app. I see those as more long term setting based on where you ride and your preferences. Really once you find the one you like the suspension reacts automatically to the trail so you shouldn’t need to change it often.

    Are the shock cable connections at the controller and the fork permanently connected or break-away? With that much open cable slack in the front I could see a branch getting between the bike and the cable and ripping it right off. If that were to happen, then is it RIP for the controller without a shop fix?

    • @bikersedge
      @bikersedge  Місяць тому

      There's a quick release on the cable right by the fork damper.

    I just bought this bike today with the live valve also. I was under the impression that you could just take it off If you don't like it but sounds more complicated than that. Looks like you would have to replace the top of the fork and shock with new heads that have the adjusters on it?

    • @bikersedge

    I just can't get behind anything electronic. So far, there has been no electronic device that has significantly improved mountain bikes. One of the things I love about bikes is that they are all mechanical and they work so well. Electronics just add complexity with very little benefit. Literally, I not buying it. Just say NO to electronic seatposts, shifters, suspensions, and even e-bikes. And yes, I'll admit I'm an out-of-date caveman but in my experience, low tech is usually the best tech. Do we really need to attach a computer and a phone to everything we own?

    • @bikersedge
      @bikersedge  2 роки тому +4

      I agree that there's something to be said for simple mechanical things. But, there's a lot to be said about innovation and advancement. Maybe there hasn't been a huge electronic improvement in bikes yet, but baby steps. I mean we're not out here doing math on an abacus, putting people on the moon with a catapult, and sending each other these comments via carrier pigeon... Give it time and electronics/computers will make MTB better.
