he does that, and Clarence does too actually, when theyre maxing out squat they like to grow out their thumb nails because it helps with hook grip

Pete Toshkov what is the Bulgarian training system?

    • @dickpiano1802

In sport science volume is considered the driver for improvement. People start out with for example three training sessions per week then after a year they do four and so on. At some point it become impractical to add volume because you have to be literally training from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed. What Abadjiev invented is splitting up your volume over multiple daily sessions. That way you can train at a higher intensity and high frequency, which together allow the weightlifter to do even more volume and become the very best he possibly can.

Pete Toshkov Is there a book or anything on this? Strength training programming is so damn interesting.

Abadjiev is a PHD in Sport Science from the Bulgarian sports academy НСА/NSA (not quite NASA, but close)... He has published some books but they're in Bulgarian. Mike Israetel has a good book Scientific Principles of Strength Training which I've heard is a detailed summary of the entire history of sport science.
