Just a tip- the manufacturer of Whirlfloc has said that 1 tablet is sufficient for 10 gallon batches and to cut the tablet in half for 5 gallon batches.

Is whirlfloc a pretty standard product? Does it actually improve clarity quite a bit?
Yes it is and it improve clearing of the wort before it´s going into the fermenter. 1/2 tablet to 5 -6 gall. Cheers
