  • HOW TO KNOW IF OXYGEN SENSOR IS BAD. TEST OXYGEN SENSOR
    If you have code and engine light on for Oxygen Sensor we will explain what could cause that and how to test oxygen sensor. By using a cheap scanner your can read the voltage from the oxygen sensor and figure out if you have bad oxygen sensor on your car. We demonstrated what are the normal readings of a good upstream oxygen sensor and we demonstrated what the readings of a bad upstream oxygen sensor may look like.

    Great video BUT was this a wide band upstream sensor?

    Very helpful to understand readings on o2 sensor. What about downstream sensors? How should the reading look?
    Thanks!

    What if the downstream sensor is jumping up and down at 2500 rpm just like sensor bank 1 (upstream)? I'm getting a po421 code, is the downstream sensor bad?

    I just did this in a peugeot 406, the good o2 sensor is the one after the cat, the signal is consistent, it doesn't spike. However, the bad sensor, the one that is faulty according dtc's, is the one before the cat, in this case, it spikes a lot, but it ranges from .1 to .8, same as the good one (slightly lower in the good one, as the cat is doing its thing). So signaling in this case i think it's good? as you are showing that spikes aren't a faulty sensor indicator. I think is the heater then, as the dtc is p0140, it's not really specific about what is the cause (can be signaling or heater).

      @frank 1976 at the end, the o2 sensor was bad, i got confused because the scanner told me the good one was bad.

      @frank 1976 what year is your car? You should be getting a similar signaling to the video or similar to the good one. But if there is a fault code, it's like 90% chance it is just bad. The one from the peugeot has already 19 years (supposing it was never changed).

      @RGV2300 3 роки тому

      @frank 1976 definitely should have a behaviour similar to the video. If not, doesn't matter, just look for the dtc. They told you if the behaviour is innapropiated (too much seconds without major fluctuations) or the heater is open.

    hi, love your videos. looking for some guidance: i'm testing o2 sensors (no code) with a foxwell nt530 scanner on a 2009 civic sedan with 90k miles. idle is a little bouncy with some vibration and mpg's are down a bit. i'm considering a preemptive upstream sensor replacement given the age/mileage. the graph on the upstream sensor fluctuates between -.02 and +.04, but mostly .01 and .02 milli amps. the downstream range is .175 to .64, but mostly between .5 and .6 volts. short term fuel trim is -1 to -3% and long term is -3 to -7%. any thoughts would be appreciated.
    btw, this seemed odd to me....your video posted by someone else: ua-cam.com/video/Hsbx7I3pT1A/v-deo.html
    thanks, Scott

    Yeah you already knew it was the oxygen sensor because you had a check engine light and a code for it...

    Pretty disrespectful to speak with this kind of accent. Might as well just speak your language, why bother English
