Rob,
I don't have a nice trim. I have an Sr5 long bed. The coolest thing is that it came with the JBL system. I drove this sucker and did not disappoint.
And it only cost about 8 to 10 grand more, to do these fixes!
Only if you agree to pay that much.
The seats themselves are bigger and better padded, and even though numbers for headroom and legroom aren’t much different than before, the cabin feels roomier up front. The new suspension deserves a shout out as well, the move away from leaf springs to the multilink coil-springs make the ride quality better. 10-15 MPG improvement is a bit of a stretch. It may be possible with the higher trims that have the new i-Force Max powertrain, which provides more power and torque.
I have never had gear hunting even in the mountains and pulling a camper.
Find that hard to believe. I towed a small 2000 lb camper and that 6 speed tranny was constantly raving up and searching. Same thing when in cruise, that tranny started raving up like crazy anytime it sniffed a hill. Drove me crazy going through Colorado. My 24 off road with the 8 speed tows so much better, night and day. Third Gen was dependable, I’ll say that. Never doubted I would hit 200,000 miles without probs. My 2024 still has to prove itself long term.
Hi Rob,
People are talking smack about the new tacoma. It is crazy talk.
Dude, I live in South LA and drove to Oregon for the weekend to visit my brother. At 26 miles per gallon, 75 miles per hour, I am glad a changed my Tundra. A comfortable ride.
The new disc brakes are nice in the fact they are smoother then the drums when it comes to stoppage. Been my experience drums last longer though.
Love the extra headroom, and I agree, the 4cyl turbo is fast off the line - very responsive. I'm averaging 23 mpg (SR5 4x4), mainly via daily commute (slow moving highway traffic)
On the fuel economy. I am getting 22 city and 25 highway. From my 21’ sport. On the rear suspension it still does not match the aftermarket Fox or Bilsteen swaps. I don’t hate it by any stretch.
The hybrid will not get anyway near 10 mpg more than the non-hybrid. It’s not a Prius type hybrid setup. The electric motor is there to assist the truck in accelerating. From Toyotas site, the regular turbo 4 is rated at 21/26 mpg. The hybrid is rated for 22/24. Also, V4? C’mon rob! lol j/k
I believe you are correct😡
Agree on all. However the hybrid gain over 1000 pounds. This hurt the performance of the hybrid systems. Hybrids for now are great in cars. But in trucks. Not so much. Perhaps when the technology improves.
I’ve bought Tacomas in the past for their bullet proof design “QDR” only time will tell how well they hold up , I’m hearing lots of complaints engine over heating when being pushed .
First I’ve heard of that?
Good job Rob, agreed with all your comments today. The 4th gen still has a way to go to prove itself. Being a first year new gen, we can expect some problems. Hopefully they will be minor in nature and Toyota will take care of us.
Thank you Rob
Nanny nanny boo boo everybody's angry at Toyota why? Because they fixed everything you wanted and they're charging the same amount of money as everyone else and because they haven't raised their prices in so long. Debbie, Downer for sure. Great job Rob This is my last one today. Thanks!
New Tundra recall! Possible machining debris left in the engine.
I heard that! Not good!
Hey Rob! I seen your previous (near perfect) 23 model Nuclear Green Toyota Tacoma here in Denver metro this morning, whom ever you sold it to is risking it being stolen, they were parked in a seedy part of town. 🤢
It seems everything we could believe in as and america is starting to decay but it all comes down to economics prices on all veicles have been crippling in 20 years toyota was and economy truck when I bought my first on and great reliability and like you say with the advances in technology in that time these p/us should be getting close to 40 miles a gallon that is the big thing for me with traffic a commute use to take and hour is now two and a half hours all that fuel being wasted and know way to make up for it I needed a truck when I got my first veicle you couldn't give them away suddenly there the cadalacs of the 21 century.
Hey Rob, this is going to be probably 2:00 or three answers on this list but I wonder because everybody's complaining about the high prices of the new Tacoma if the reason they're number one. Although I do understand the reliability is if maybe they were under the market for so long people got used to. Well I'll go pick me up a Toyota for such and such and that'll be a lot cheaper. Well now they're up there with the same price as the other three or other two since ram is not in this ball game. Just my fault but I'm going to go through the rest of these and I've got another one for the headroom what idiot said they lowered the headroom. Oh my goodness. Funny idiot talking off the side of his face. This is the first time in years I've had the opportunity to even drive a Tacoma. That's how I found out how well they drove because I was able to drive it due to my height and my bad back and my bad toe. Just a little funny there. Anyway Thank you Rob. Have a blessed day
Awesome, we got rear disc brakes and 2 fewer cylinders. What a trade-off. Lol. I like the truck a lot, minus the drivetrain and msrp. Frontier soon to be here I guess. 👍✌️
We got much more than just that!
@RobMotive No doubt there are many great improvements with the new Tacoma. It's still difficult to not be disappointed or even a bit angry with the latest drivetrain, but definitely the msrp's. It's actually kind of infuriating. It's not about being able to afford it. It's because it just doesn't seem worth it.
Why would anyone be mad about a vehicle? Why would anyone take these things personally? It’s a thing.
@RobMotive Definitely not taking anything concerning vehicles personally by any means. As a consumer, though, I am disappointed. It's a thing that, like many, would be nice to have because of its functionality and practicality. Toyota has ruined the practicality because of the msrp for sure. When manufacturers do this and get away with it, the chances of regular people like any of us, are less likely to be able to enjoy having one. What if a base model Civics msrp was $60k and a vehicle like the Tacoma was $90k ? Wouldn't you be extremely disappointed and simply depleted ? Manufacturers have taken today's msrps way too far.
@car-diologist Nope..no more so that I’m disappointed I can’t have a Lamborghini. You have to live within your means and manufacturers charge what the market will bare.
They fixed everything on the 2024 tacoma like everybody wanted I love my 2024 tacoma TRD off-road I think it's worth the price cause they fixed everything on tacoma
Sure hope the engine is not like the recalled Tundras. Funny Tundra made in America, Taco Mexico.....
Ironic huh.
@@RobMotive Question? How nice is living in South Texas?? Seriously.
Not sure what you mean?
It's Hot!
