Hey, your vids got me back into chess last August, and I went from being a 900-1000 player to cracking 1300 today. Learning these great games and the lore is useful mechanically, with helping me conceptualize theory, and (most importantly) with keeping me invested in the hobby. Thanks for these.
@@danvsbronies lore isn't used interchangabley with history, so he probs thought it was funny since it implies it was some fictitious story or a video game event
@@fincy645 So in the modern vernacular, “Lore” tends to mean something along the lines of “backstory for a fictitious property” but this is not the only meaning of the word. Lore also refers to accumulated knowledge, and especially accumulated stories. For example Saruman in LoTR was a “Loremaster” of rings. That meant he knew all of the information that anyone had ever passed down about rings. He was where you went to hear the definitive story of the rings. The history of these chess games is the moves and the material context in which the games were played. And we do get some of that. But mostly we get stories about how great and interesting these people were and how they were remembered (this is the lore part), and chess analysis.
Your agreement that taking en passant is forced made me love your videos even more :D Thank you for all of your content it has helped me a lot as a player (I recently broke the 1200 barrier after being stuck at 1000 for almost a year!)
My impression was that En passant is "forced" only in specific circumstances - ie: when it is the only legal move that a player can made in a position that is otherwise a stalemate; ie: the player may not pass up on the en passant move and claim a draw. Otherwise it is a choice a player gets to make if there are other legal moves available.
@@sonnyliew Wrong; You must take en passant if it is a legal move to demonstrate your superior understanding of the rules of chess, especially if rated under 1200.
A long time subscriber here - I love the new role play style! Also please keep making your incredible content, not only are you helping me fall asleep but also improving my abilities and confidence every time!
thanks for the long time support! I explored the roleplaying further in my new video actually - maybe you'll like it? All the best and thanks for taking the time to share a comment!
It’s crazy how much I watch your videos, just assuming everybody else does at well. But your channel is quite a niche, which I’ve only just realised of course. Makes me feel like I’m in a cool wee club.
That pawn move was astonishing!! At first I thought how is this winning I lost so much material, then my mind just blew up, but that is how it usually is for me, a mere 1000 rated player... Thank you for showing this amazing game! Love your videos!
I love your channel , I recently discovered it and this immortal series is my favorite so far , also I would love to see some new opening videos as well. Can you please share your chess pieces set source if possible? I know there are Staunton German style 6 but a link would be appreciated. Thank you!
Just a question. Are you not filming on your Black and Red chess set because you dont like it visually, or you dont want to damage it, or for some other reason ? Because I remember liking it and would love to see it, but I am respecting whatever your decision is.
Question. When Larson played pawn to F4, why was En Passant not forced which would have allowed him to take the light square bishop? This is at the 19 minute mark for the video. Thank you to anyone who help me understand.
@ 25:00 u could take the black E Rock and the white A Rock just out of the game to show it better and make sounds with them in your hand. Just a litte suggestion for improvement :)
Thank you so much!! I’m a beginner and I love your videos, they make me progress so much. 😊 Does anyone know if he already analysed the famous game between Bobby Fischer and Spassky?
Very good video as always. But is the light sound in the background (like a fan computer or something like that) normal ? Its a bit disturbing so i was wondering if you could remove it. Thanks !
actually wen bobby fischer played bent larsen for world champion playoffs or candidates around 1972 1 think booby won like 5 or 6 games to 0 there wasnt even a draw he did the same with taimanov another contender for world champ, to not even allow a draw against such strong players was unheard of , its not happened ever or since again!
The pieces talking to each other is classic.... 👍

Can’t explain how much I love your videos. Thank you so much for making these!
The way you say "aaaaaand" at the beginning of your videos give me instant asmr. Your channel is a gem

Fun fact. When he stands up, they actually call him straight Larsen

Great video. The role-play worked. It would have also worked without it. What a game!
dope
Lets go brother support support
Could he have played the bishop to protect the rook and completely stop the the attempt at making a queen
13:16 Holy hell
