Pro tip: when playing BFN switch, you can re-map the controls for B and A so the gameplay works normally. The downside is that they kept the interaction functions of the two the same, so now they will be the ones inverted. Pick your poison, I guess.
I play PvZ BFN on switch than PvZ GW2 on my PS5, surprisingly. I really love this game, I even played it the most on my switch. It may not be as good the others, but still it’s such a great game.(Also, if you were to do the gnome thing backwards, like from zombie side to plant side, it’ll still work).
Also, I really think that all characters are from A-tiers to S-tiers, the characters are all so good and I’ve been able to get many, many vanquishes except Wizard. If I rank all characters in solo-combat, Wizard would be in my B-tier.

Honestly, if the console + PC versions of this got rid of their rainbow stars and treated currency like how they do here, it would completely eliminate the P2W aspect, making the game a lot better in my eyes.
The switch a and b buttons are in the same formation Nintendo controllers have always been, look up an SNES controller. They kept things the way Nintendo fans knew.
try out the gyro controls! they're a great way to play the game. I use gyro on gw2 pc personally, it may not click instantly but once it does its really good (especially when you're not able to use keyboard n mouse). Theres a reason like 99% of top level splatoon players use motion controls and will use stick controls as an added challenge. side note: nintendo used the abxy layout in the order thats on the switch ever since the super nintendo in the early 90s, blame xbox and sega for wanting to use the same symbols/icons as nintendo but flipping it
Personally I don’t like BFN that much, but the whole variants argument is complete BS; People who want variants don’t actually want variants, they want one SPECIFIC variant for themselves. I know damn well if they add all variants, people are gonna see the manual detonation characters again, and start hating the game more.

Well it ain't that bad considering there are very few weekly modes, and most times it will end up being arena or team vanquish

Actually Nintendo has the OG layout and microsoft swaped it. The first controller with 4 face buttons was the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
