These last three episodes are peak Avatar. Each one is so epic with amazing fights, pay-offs, and music. Thanks for going back and refreshing on the earlier stuff. Korra and Tenzin took massive amounts of injury and damage so everyone else could be okay, and I just love them so much for that. And that ending shot of Korra always gets me bc she's the strongest character and seeing her so broken hurts!
this season's finale left a lot of us in tears but also made us feel sorry for Korra after she was left in a traumatic state after Zaheer poisoned her and almost killed her while she was in the Avatar State
That's why this is for me by far the best book in Korra! Also from the entire Avatar series as well. It had it all: Action, choreography, animation, villains etc. This was peak Avatar!
I absolutely love season 3 but season 4 is my favorite. closing out the final episode with korra being so hopeless is heartbreaking but the set up for the next season is perfect.
Book 1 finale: Korra loses her bending, but is saved because of the past avatars. Book 2: Korra loses all her past lives. Book 3: Korra is beaten and nearly dies while in the avatar state, left in a wheelchair and severely weakened... So far this show has been just season after season of Korra getting knocked down... Each victory really being a pyrrhic one and costing her more and more... Anywho... Who's ready for book 4?
For real!! She can’t catch a break - everyone has been out to get her since she left her training compound in Book 1 and she hasn’t had a break since, really curious to see whether this will have an impact on her demeanor at all in Book Four!
Loved the emotional reaction. Can you imagine having to wait a week between these episodes?!! The writing in most Korra episodes made me go "I don't know what's going to happen next", but this season/book was laid out with so many mysteries and cliffhanger endings that I was consistently left begging for more and then being shocked when answers to my questions were revealed. It was so well done!
What's really cool to think about is that all 4 members of red lotus were taken down one by one because they turned their own elements against them. Pli blew herself up Ghazan basically burried himself to death Ming-hua got electrocuted because of her watery "advantage" And Zaheer got sucked in the giant tornado. The element that gave him the ability to fly, forcefully took him down to earth. How poetic✨
This is Peak Avatar for me. And like you, I enjoyed Book 2 as well. Not only did we see Korra grow, the show fell in it's own. It felt more distinct than The Last Airbender compared to book 1. Tenzen has my favorite line in the whole series that pretty much sums up how I feel. I don't think Book 4 tops this one but it doesn't need to. It's dealing with the repercussions of what happened here but it still has its epic moments all the same. Can't wait to see how you react to it and finally finish this show after so long.
Season 3's ending is probably the darkest ending of any season of ATLA or LOK (the only close contender being season 2 of ATLA where Ba Sing Se falls and Aang dies). Korra being poisoned, thinking her father was killed, and having a considerable number of broken bones from falling off a cliff have all clearly taken a physical and psychological toll on her. One of the better writing decisions made by the producers was to focus on the physical and mental consequences for someone who's endured what Korra just went through. In a lot of action movies and tv shows, especially animated ones (Dragon Ball Z being the most obvious example) the main characters recover from brutal fights and catastrophic physical trauma like its nothing. LOK was one of the first shows I remember to actually try and explore what all those injuries would mean for someone's long-term physical and mental health. I won't spoil anything; all I'll say is that the journey Korra goes through in season 4 is incredible and really helps bring the show full circle. Great reaction Cat!!! Hope you had a great holiday season and an amazing New Years!!!
Truly it was such a heartbreaking ending, in spite of the “win” in defeating the Red Lotus, Korra is severely broken, it feels like we lost something in a way (perhaps her innocence - not that she really has that option as the Avatar, but this one really seemed to take a serious toll on her) I hope she bounces back in Book Four! Can’t wait to finish it out in 2025, happy new year!
He really was just power hungry at the end of the day!! He was taking matters into his own hands yet scowling at the thought of any authoritative figures, but who gave him the right to go about making decisions for everyone!!
I haven't done a rewatch of Korra in a while, and (no spoilers) it is wild to see how much events in this season set up Book 4. You can tell that Books 1 and 2 were written as self-contained stories, and, while each season expands on what happened before, the previous seasons clearly weren't written with a knowledge or plan of what was going to happen after. But it's interesting how the creators/writers seems to have asked the question of how Korra and this world would be affected by the events of this Book, which prompted them to come up with the plan/story for Book 4 and then sprinkle in seeds of what's to come. Like, I forgot that Book 3 ends with Korra's tears, but it's like they said to themselves "We can end on a not-happy note, because we know how we're going to wrap this up." A bold and fascinating choice.
@@CatherineLaSalle I do enjoy most of your reactions, no scratch that, I love most of your reactions and vlogs. The ones I enjoy less aren’t because of you but because of the show you’re watching/reacting to. I hope the best for you in 2025! ❤️ Got anything lined up you would like to tell us/me?
Happy New Year Cat I have been waiting for this You and Tom started me on my Avatar Journey back in 2020😂 Now I watch you finish this universe ☯️⚡🔥 Happy New Year Enjoy your vacation 🤘

@CatherineLaSalle If That Doesn't Cut For You, Young Justice Would Be A Good Replacement. They Have Some Good Animation And Mature Topics The More The Series Progresses. It's A Justice League Show

Truly it was SO epic, the combat especially! Amazing fights, but then it ends with that gut punch of the final shot of Korra 💔

I've cried at Jinora getting her tattoos several times

Book 4 released 10 years ago
24:15 her head blew up, you can see it when you stop at the exact moment
OOOOOOOOOH cuz she already launched an explosion right as the mask gets her DANG
Season 3 and 4 are both very solid and both are better than the first 2 seasons, but season 1 is where it all started and that's special.
I really do think Season 1 is perfection 🙌🏼
The moment Team Zaheer came for Tenzin, the entire fandom went, "NOPE! Stay away from *DAD.* You don't touch him!"
HE IS DAD 😭 I was sooooo freaking nervous that they were gonna kill him
Ginora looking like Aang in that last scene always destroys me
That’s what BROKE me 😭😭 burst into tears, couldn’t help but think of Aang

I like the symbolism of Zaheer being dragged down by his one last earthly attachment. His desire to kill Korra.
DAAAANG you’re so right!!
Watching Korra broken physically and emotionally tells me Zaheer was one of the scariest and most effective villain in the Avatar world.
What's really cool to think about is that all 4 members of red lotus were taken down one by one because they turned their own elements against them.

I can’t believe they just ended it there 😭
6:26 Pabu love 🦦🥺🤣
Book 4: Trauma
Korra went through hell to save the world and pay the price😢😢😢😢😢
She really freaking did, this one feels like the straw that broke the camels back
