The cover crops are the best we ever had. The cows do love it. The cover crops are sweet. Some of what we plant they make sorghum syrup. Thanks for watching!!
It was great to see how well the dogs work. I really like the wide angle drone view of the land. It is not only beautiful, but informative with a larger picture.
Great to see you at the conference last week, Russ. Love the video. I didn’t realize you had working dogs. Wonderful to see them working the herd a bit. Keep up the good work.
@@RussWilson Quite impressive! Was that 40 days continuous this field only, rotating throughout the duration, or 40 days of grazing total, rotating through other fields? Awesome channel!
Thanks for the heads up. Those links are 10:46 and 14:32 I usually try to put the links toward the end of the videos just in case someone is really interested in the video. Thanks for Watching.
Hey Russ good vid! Help me with the math and cost per head per day with $100 land cost $55 seeding and seed, times 8 acres = 1240$ divided by 400 grazing days is $3.10 per head per day!! Seems high iknw your building soil but. Did I miss something? Thanks keep making vids
You missed a step in your math. land cost $100 + Seeding $55 X 8 Acres = $1240 for 8 acres 400 grazing per acre X 8 acres = 3200 total grazing days $1240.00/ 3200 total grazing days = $0.39 per animal unit grazing day Trying to figure this stuff out can be very confusing sometimes. Thanks for the great question!!
Love your videos Russ, keep em coming. You have a lot of valuable information to share, thanks for taking the time to share!
God bless!
Thank You!!
Your land is gorgeous. PA is a beautiful state.
Thank you!! Pennsylvania is beautiful especially in the the backcountry. Thanks for watching!!
Wow. Amazing to see the tall cover crops. The cows must love to graze that.

Thank you very much! We love our dogs!
Loved the time lapse ❤
I like your time lapse
I like the time lapses to. It helps figure out the grazing behavior of livestock.
Good video Russ
Thanks You! It was nice meeting at the summit!

It was great seeing you. It was a great conference. Thanks 👍 We love our dogs!! They make handling livestock a lot easier.
Found you from Greg Judy's channel!
🐊🇵🇷🦅❤👍
Thank You!!
Great content
Looks great. Have you tried adding cowpea to your corn? It use to be great fodder addition but lost favor for some reason🎉
Yes I have tried cowpeas for some reason they don't do well here. wish they did cause cow peas are a great plant.
@@RussWilson only place ive found is a place in Alabama. The germ rate is rather low 60% but my goats love them
You were right. The closer the drone gets, they really start ringing their tails. That is funny.
They are getting better with the drone. But it's still a big fly to them. 😂😂😂😂
Thank you so much great teacher
So nice of you!
Very nice stand
Very nice and I like your epic choice in music
40 days on 5 acers? How many units?
There was 80 animal units. It really extended the grazing season. Thanks for watching!!

Two spots where you said you'd put a link....and no link. Just FYI.

What will you plant in the sorghum field next year?
I plant winter rye based cover crop. After we graze that we will most likely put it back in to Sorghum Sudan based cover crop.
@@RussWilson I just found your channel this morning, and the first video was you discussing using livestock for overseeding. Would that work here?
@@gedwardnelson Hey George, It will work most anywhere. Just make sure you have moisture in your soil.
These videos are great. But the music in the drone clips really detracts from it .
Noted, Do you think it would be better without music? or maybe do a voice over? Thanks for watching!!
@@RussWilson
Think either would be good.
Some key points as a voice over or some simple royalty free tunes

@@karifeldhaus8844 Thanks for watching!!
I’d run pasture pigs in the field after the cows. They’d get fat!
It looks like the Sudan did not regrow for second grazing. Is this correct?
You are correct! After it goes to seed it will not regrow.
