Ok so the B-plot with Christopher Reeves is a play on The Superman movies. Obviously, Reeves played Superman in those movies but it seems you didn't relies that Gene Hackman played the villain Lex Luthor. The joke here is Reeves is became the villain and Hackman became the hero. Also at the end they put Reeves in the Phantom Zone a near inescapable prison dimension that was used in Superman 2 to trap the villain Zod and his soldiers. Hope this made those scenes funnier.

The thing at the end that Christopher Reeve was in was from one of the early Superman Movies, I think Superman 2 but I could be wrong of which one. It was a prison of sorts for General Zodd and the bad guys but I cant remember what it was called. Its been a long time since I saw that movie.
