This one is one of my favorite easy wear fragrances. I really love the contrast of the fresh/fruity notes with the darker/sweet notes. They seem expertly placed
This was my 1999 scent. Truly Madly Deeply song with leather jacket and an ill advised polo neck. Pre Internet emails I used to send my Spanish sweetheart Allure Homme sprayed and in a letter. The sweetheart didn't even like Allure Homme she told me years later lol.
Allure homme is my favourite from the entire allure line. Just wished it projects and last a little more without changing its scent at all.. it smells soo good…
I knew you would give it a 9, because I was certain you would like the scent and find the price really good, but you would be disappointed in the performance, which is actually above average for an EDT, but very airy and soft.
I'm so happy you've reviewed this masterpiece of a scent. Such a timeless, beautiful and classic one. The Allure line is in general super excellent. All top ones. Thank you Aaron.
Love this one! My bottle is about 15 years old, it’s dense, oily and incredibly macerated, it’s quite strong. I have about 50% left of 100mL. The liquid in my bottle is a light amber and I notice in new bottles it’s almost clear. I should sample a new bottle, I’m curious how newer batches smell compared to mine because it’s definitely not lite and airy.
new bottles still amazing but the older bottle sandalwood and coconut was more dense. and lasted a little longer on the skin. If i was you i would buy the new batch and only use the old stuff when going to special events
Your take on this fragrance is a revelation. The flankers get most of the praise, yet I think this fragrance is fantastic, despite the minor performance issue. Your explanation of Chanel perfumery is also a fine contribution to fragcom.
i sprayed 3 times on my neck yesterday and another 3 on my shirt. It lasted 11 hours on my skin with mild projection. for London weather it's perfect this time of the year it was 4 degree Celsius and cold. I find the lasting power in the heat/summer is only 6 hours as the heat makes the fragrance jump off the skin. also smells better in the cold as it has warm amber/vanilla mandrin notes
Aaron, I’ve got good idea for a video… “Top 10/15/20 fragrances you wish was stronger or with better performance” I think it would be interesting for viewers and also, if some brands are watching, also good for them too, because they can take some notice from this video and make improvements in their future projects. I hope so. Thanks
I own less than 20 fragrances and I will say with supreme confidence that this will always and forever be in my small collection…. The dry down is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 This fragrance I spray usually about an hour before I go where I need to be.
Aaron you are getting better and better at reviewing. I have been watching you for almost 2 years and the progress is amazing. Thank you so much for the reviews. If i ever visit England i will definitely go to Manchester and try your fragrances!
I’m curious if you preferred this one over the Allure Homme Blanche edition. I think lighter fragrances are great for a warm sunny day when you want to relax. Ozone is one of my personal favorites for those occasions, but it is much more long lasting.
This was one of the first fragrances I bought when I decided to update my perfume selection. I had a job interview lined up and felt what I had was good but a little narrow. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd end up falling in love with the art of fragrances and start a massive collection. It's so beautiful and you described it perfectly. It's a shame what IFRA does to these scents over time but I'm glad it still has that inspiring, blissful effect. One of my absolute favorites to wear in the fall when the sun is out and warm but there's a gentle, brisk breeze. I think I'll wear it right now. Thank you so much for all your hard work and passion, Aaron. It just occurred to me though, I wonder what would happen if I layered it with your Oud creation. Guess I'll find out! :D
@@AppleGuy7 I actually prefer using it when it's colder in the fall and winter. It's not a powerhouse though so you'll need to adjust your sprays to how cold it is in your neck of the woods. If you're wearing this in an environmentally-controlled place like work or something, you can wear this all year easily.
@@Schatje79 I have got allure homme sport it cant project well in cold winter days, I just want to something with same vibe to wear in cold days, look like allure homme is good idea, right?
@@AppleGuy7 yeah, the sport flanker is best for warm weather. It needs more heat to shine. The original definitely works better for the cold but Homme and Homme Sport smell nothing alike so if you can, I would sample it first to make sure you like it.
I enjoy the Allure line. Allure was my signature scent in the early 00s. I really enjoyed the subsequent flankers that went more citrus and sporty. I would love for them to now start going darker and deeper with the dna.
What are some of the “day off” fragrances you wear? When I’m at home and want something easy to wear I know my wife and kids won’t fuss about, I typically wear Bleu de Chanel Parfum or Molecule 01. Excellent video as always, Aaron! Cheers!!!
Excellent review Aaron. This one certainly is a very beautiful fragrance! This is the first time I sprayed some whilst watching your review to try and better understand what you were saying! Keep up the good work! P. S. I'm currently also enjoying getting to know Maverick! 😍
Thank you for the review! This is one of my favourite, not many people wear this since the popularity of the bleu, that’s a good thing. It’s very calming and uplifting. I hope they come out with a perfume version. I think you’d enjoy Narciso Rodriguez Bleu Noir, it’s a warm, clam, spicy, cardamom. Dry down is something special.
I think you should really, really try Égoïste and Antaeus by Chanel next. Égoïste is the only designer fragrance that's been intentionally made to smell torrid and sexual. It is also the favourite creation of Chanel perfumer Jacques Polge. And Antaeus is an animalic (it contains synthetic castoreum) leather fragrance done in a classic french, Chanel way. Similar to Kouros, but even better.
A reviewer on Fragrantica described Antaeus as a threesome between Kouros, Drakkar Noir and Shalimar which I thought was quite funny and accurate. On the one hand it has that bold and aggressive opening but the projection of the dry down is clean and soapy, almost barbershop like, whereas close to the skin it’s dense, resinous, leathery and a bit sweet. I actually think the current formulation is office safe provided you allow 30mins to an hour for it to settle down first. Egoiste I didn’t get at first; this isn’t a fragrance known for its great opening. Opens a bit sour. The drydown is delicious cinnamon and sandalwood.
@@EOTA564 I agree. Antaeus is quite wearable now after the opening. But the opening is my favourite part. Égoïste I couldn't get either. The opening has a majorly synthetic citronellol top note. But somewhere in the mid drydown is my favourite part, where it gets musky with some ambrette and a major carnation note.
A truly revealing insight into how the fragrance is constructed and why it's done that way. Insightful, informative, and fascinating. Puts other fragrance channels to shame
Allure for me is the last pure and true Chanel style (for men), then they started to shoot to the market a lot of Allure that and that............, and become very "industrial", till today especially with Blue de Chanel for example. Allure is a real old school scent from this lovley house.
This would have been my signature scent if it was a little bit more saturated, more vibrant. After 20 minutes it kind of fades and I really want to buy it but the performance is holding me back
Thanks for doing this one. As we know I'm not much of a citrusy or Chanel fan. But this was one I wore at uni so it's special. I'm not complaining cos it is what it is, but the reformulated newer version of this is a shadow of what it was, it used to have more depth, more of a richness and warmth about it. It is still nice now but it doesn't give me them feelings it did back in the day. And that peachy touch in there has practically gone now 😔 but it is what it is and things change
I agree, perfumery is an artform.from horrible to overwhelming beautiful. I was shocked when I heard about that some brands create formulations on a computer without smelling and creating it.
yup the one that's talked about is mostly the Eau Extreme, I like that one as well but dang the OG Allure Homme is such a pleasant, easy to wear, classy scent and these days barely anyone wears it which makes you stand out.
I prefer ÁHS from the open to mid but on the dry down the OG is creamy and woody and masculine, I would say leaning towards a mature man. AHS smells like the yellow no 2 wood pencil on the dry down could be the cedar wood
So sad ...i miss it a lot.... can't explain much, it was something like 1998,1999,2000, 2001, 2002.....my lovely signature scent...it was having a very good performance....cap was without ring

Your observation is right on the nose. It is absolutely an excellent every day fragrance. This was my signature sent in early to mid 2000. Goes very well with a suit. The ladies loved it. I just didn’t like the fact that it didn’t last very long. Maybe I did not overspray.
My signature scent for a long time love it unfourtunately does not last on my skin (it frustrated me so much that I did not wear perfume for two years)
Another great review that helped make my mind up! I've been debating buying this but the vetiver had me apprehensive. I was also concerned with longevity and silage as some chanel fragrances, they tend to be light. I have the same fleeting issues with allure homme sport, but not eau extreme. I have dry skin so fragrances tend to dissipate more quickly on me than others. Still would like to test it but probably will pass on ownership. Love the uncanny mind reading across seas!
On my skin the OG Allure Homme projects better and lasts longer than Allure Homme Sport but of course not as great as the Eau Exterme as that one is a beast when it comes to performance. However in terms of the scent alone, the OG Allure Homme is the best for me.
@@lettuce1305 I might still reconsider. Does the vetiver stand out or is it super noticeable like in hermes intense vetiver, or dior homme 2020?
