lisa ugh though, it wasn’t as bad as Rhiannon’s. I felt like I was the only one that noticed that. Rhiannon was very shaky and when it came to high belts she was shaky overall.
I love how everyone is judging her on this. Guys, SHE WAS BEING VERY JUDGED, THIS PERFORMENCE DETERMINED HER CAREER. OF COURSE SHE WOULD BE NERVOUS!

I have to agree. She was actually way better live than on the MTV show however.
She has an excellent voice normally-I saw her on broadway, and while she doesn't come anywhere close to Laura, she's normally better than this.
Anyone commenting on her singing isn't a singer. You can tell that she's straining to sing this entire time; she's losing her voice, or in the middle of getting it back.
Have you seen her in the broadway production... because I have three times, and she has improved about 10,000 times from this video. and She was simply amazing. I'm not saying she's LBB but, she does a phenomenal job....
she isnt bad, but she doesnt belong on Broadway. but she does have talent. and i think everyone can agree, Laura is,was,and always will be the best.
Idk why people are so mean about Bailey. She’s fantastic in my opinion. I really don’t think having a top notch matters as much as having stage presence and acting abilities. Baileys voice is good and she really does embody Elle.

Remember, this song is very hard. Saying that someone can't sing JUST because they were in a very draining and difficult musical is actually quite stupid. Sure, Laura Bell Bundy is way better but still. As someone with near perfect pitch, she actually wasn't bad. The ending could've been WAY better (that was scary). She was shaky at some points and she sounds airy at others but she wasn't at the point horrendously awful. She was off-key various times but all in all, she wasn't horrible. There are other girls who were/are better than her (Autumn, Laura, etc.)
She just didn't have enough energy in my opinion
She had that “theatre” energy, meaning you can tell she’s an actor performing a role instead of just a character real and alive, she dosent seem real with her portrayal here

well Kirsten Chenoweth was a better Glinda than Laura... because she was the original... Laura will be the better Elle because she originated it.
chrissy seibel ok first of all I do agree that Kristen was the better Glinda but not because she was the original. It was because some of the Glinda songs didn't fit Laura's voice and she was too belty in my opinion. 2nd of all Laura is the better Elle because she can actually sing and act whereas Bailey is horrible at both singing and acting. So everyone likes Laura because she doesn't suck ass not because she was the original.

Bailey got better and less "exaggerated" after she joined the cast. LBB is still better though. Bailey WAS the right choice to win contest.
Just! I just feel like everyone is comparing Bailey to LBB. Imagine that you stand on an “Broadway” stage, that is terrifying! I’m doing a high school production and I’m already terrified. I don’t hate her, but why is the ending like that?

My problem with this performance, and honestly all of Bailey’s performances with Legally Blonde in general, is just that she isn’t right for this role. I’m aware that they basically made this musical for LBB so those are some big shoes to fill. When trying to cast for a role again, there is a certain standard the person has to meet. Not saying they have to try an act exactly like the person before them but there is an expectation. In this case, Bailey didn’t fit it. You can’t hide the fact that this wasn’t a good performance because she had very big shoes to fill, its cause she isn’t good for the role. I’m simply saying that this wasn’t the role for Bailey. That by no means makes her untalented, this just wasn’t good for her musical abilities. When recasting a person for a role they have to be judged on a scale of what the person before them did. (If that makes sense). In a musical, if the person in the original cast did very well, then obviously they want someone just as good as them, very close, or that person will set there own bar for a role. I know LBB is extremely talented she did very well as Elle. Though, for the musical to thrive they need someone who is close to LBB. When people heard about how amazing LBB was and went to see Legally Blonde and saw Bailey I imagine they were disappointed and underwhelmed. This might be why the musical closed. I feel that Autumn or Lauren where both better choices for Elle. Though she matches in looks, Bailey’s musical abilities where not good enough for Elle.
Bailey is good enough for a High School production, maybe even a College production, but not Broadway. Simply put: she was not ready.

Autumn was way stronger

In my opinion her voice was stronger but Bailey had the character so I feel like thats why they picked her
are you kidding me? I'm not the biggest laura bell bundy fan, but at least she could hit/sing the notes and could handle the constant physical movement through some of the more spirited songs. bailey's got a long way to go before she's ready to lead a major musical on broadway.

Everyone said they feel bad for her and yeah I understand, but she went flat on more than half the notes, she's not meant for broadway. If I paid to see a professional broadway production and that performance was delivered I would really upset
She's not as good as Laura, but she still is pretty good. I'm going to see the tour with her in it next year =]

+Kate Fowler This is only a guess but the chances are this was filmed before she really went into rehearsals for Elle so she hadn't had time to work on it all that long, but again I don't actually know.

When they announced Bailey as the winner, she sang the rest of the song as like a "winning song" or something like that. :)

I love Bailey but this sucks. but you have to realize this was her audition for the last episode and if she screwed up it would be on TV and she wouldnt win the role. alot was riding on it.

Christian was quite against the idea of casting through a reality show, which is why he didn't do any of the Emmett parts in the auditions.

Victora Shirley Of course, but you can compare two actors on the same role. You can compare how good the singing fits the role, the acting, the dancing, the charisma. They both have a unique aura but the rest can be compared.
Not as individuals but as Elle Woods. Not compare the actors, but the actors portraying the character.

i think the reason they chose bailey instead of autumn was because she brought some of herself to the character, and also this wasn’t a good performance for her and i don’t think people should base their whole opinion on this one video

Bailey is cute, nice, her singing is not my style. Autumn has better singing overall though. Bailey's an alto and Autumn's a soprano. I'm just jealous that they got to perform in a show with Christian Borle. I can see Bailey playing Elsa in Frozen and Autumn playing Anna. I feel like that would suit them.

Indeed I have and i was not impressed. Besides, you don't cast a second-rate performer in the auditions as a lead just out of the hope that she will get better over time. If anything you cast that girl as an understudy.
And I wouldn't necessarily consider Laura Bell Bundy to be the pinnacle to which other Elles should be judged...
Laura Bell is a much better singer. It seems like Bailey never quite stretches all the way to the note. She quits half way.
I was like watching the songs and I think the other girl's performance was better but she's good not like I could sing like that :)

In my opinion I like autumn better than bailey but I liked Lauren better than anyone... I like her better all of them... she reminded me of Elle the most!
