Starker looked like he was enjoying this masterclass. Thank you for the video, I am still learning, and I never get tired of watching his teaching.

Janos was a genius and a very kind/funny teacher as well! I've been studying this piece and this masterclass is so helpful.

The student definitely did a great job given who was i the room... The accompanist was also on point and a great support to the educational environment. Affirming comments, mixed with timely observations/recommendations from one of the legendary performers on this wonderful instrument. Well done, all!

Thank you for uploading this with adjusted volume, I remember this being on UA-cam with Starker being almost inaudible. Also insane that he is over 80 years old in this.

Credit to Mathias Donderer for enhancing the audio. Yes, it's inspiring and amazing how he could play at that age. Thank you for your comment.

Brilliant -- thank you for posting. Lots of inspiration/methods for bowing technique and musical approach in the latter section especially.

What cello is Starker playing here?

      He was using my Goffriller

@@hamfetz thank you. It was amazingly shiny, but sounded wonderful. Starker owned a Gofriller himself, either 1707 or 1720, I think. I guess he didn’t have his own at the time?

@@journeymancellist9247 Starker came to Portland and gave two days of master classes as a favor to me, but he didn't feel like flying with the cello, so I offered mine.

@@hamfetz not many people can offer Starker an instrument equal to his own. Kudos!
