Hi thank you for video, is it necessary to sand or can you blade to even area and then apply coat? Second question is can you use roller to apply this coats?

I am stuck, after watching your video, I've gotten about an 8x7 wall skim coated, but are you supposed to sand between each coat? I'm using a thin multi use compound, since after almost breaking my back starting with the midweight proform. I can see patchy areas now, although it's all smooth. Will I need to use a primer (was a beige/caramel color previously) or can I just put two coats of sherman willams 4000 ultra hide?
