    Where my mind goes is- for the Microtech lover this is about the same price as a cool model Combat Troodon. Sure, the Troodon is more EDC freindly, but damn that's a big ol' peice a M390. Is the Troodon more likely to be on you when it counts? Yes it is......but all the same that thing is a serious blade for serious things. Like serious bump in the night when you already have NODS on things. All that said it is just plain cool too......if your a M.T collector or you love high end blades it looks like a home run to me. For a similar purpose though a combo edge mini socom would be a manageable little fixed blade that would rip some shit up if needed......I'm interested in one of those for sure. They also make a double edge smaller fixed blade I think too that's concealable. I'm plenty happy with my D/E Ultratech OTF myself but options are what make America so damn good right? I do love me some Microtechs.....

    The knife blade isn't heavy enough to be a chopper, it's designed only for self defense and for combat. It's not designed for bushcrafting.

    • @DonnieBAllDay
      @DonnieBAllDay  2 місяці тому

      Right. So if its the only knife you have on you when you need a knife for what it wasn't designed for, you just don't knife? Thats kinda dumb.

    It's definitely not a woodsman's knife. But I have plenty of wood knives I bought this well kinda just to have it's not something you typically see from Michrotech so why not. Would be a good home defense knife there again I know personally am not grabbing a knife if I can reach something that throws lead lol. I'm like you not everything has to be practical but it is cool. I didn't think that the jimping would have dug into you like that but I've only held it and not used it but I know now. Thanks for sharpening it up for me I can only hand sharpen and sure that would have taken me a while. I need to get some cheap knives and practice on a belt grinder to get the hang of it. Brother glad you enjoyed playing with it except for the chewing up of your hand. Like I've said before anything you see I have and want to check out you are more than welcome to even if you don't like it I'm a big boy you won't hurt my feeling. I worry more I don't want to waste your or Scab's time more than anything. Great vid Brother !!! hopefully, you will get used to my long-ass replies I know Scab is 😁

      I can tell you this, there's no such thing as wasting my time. I'm retired. Haha! But really, this was a joy to test. A truly fun blade and 100% appreciated. Harbor Freight has a decent 1x30 belt grinder thats dirt cheap. Its great for shaping grips and sharpening blades

    I think youd like the Socom Alpha a whole lot more brother, i have the large and mini and a signature edition Warcom also amd i love them! The first two i have had for 3+yrs and they're in cts204p the Warcom is M390 but their 204P holds up i mean i put a hair whittling edge on the large and then full strength chest lever pulled it through very hard maple and processed a downed branch in my backyard the damn thing was still hair whittling when i was done! Makes ya feel good to know that if you have to use your knife for tasks other than it was designed for that it is comfortable and can do it while maintaining a razors edge! I have been wanting one of these Arbiter knives for a long time but i just cannot seem to justify the $510 that they sell for! I mean if you look at companies like survive knives or Bradford gaurdians then that same $500 can get you a whole lot more knife in fact youd likely be able to get two for the price a large chopper and a companion lol

    • @DonnieBAllDay

      I really like the look of the mini. The Alpha is too narrow if it was something I was going to spend money on.

      @EffYoInfo Рік тому

      The mini and the alpha have hot spots on the g10/CF curve where your index finger goes. It’s actually kinda sharp. It’ll scrape you pretty good if you try chopping with an alpha %100.

    I recently was able to connect with a collector who wanted to sell his & it’s now mine ~ I LOVE IT TOO..!!! Mine is the Serrated Edition [Aug 2019] and after getting the full sized SOCOM ALPHA Fixed Blade, I KNEW that I wanted the Arbiter. Practical? WHO CARES?/!! Not I. Excellent Video, Brother. For those of us who appreciate & love Blades (I’m Twice Afflicted w/ a Fixed Blade Knives and Rifles FIERCELY MAGNETIC Soul ~ kinda like “Sméagol”/the Gollum in “The Lord of the Rings” who’s mantra is, “My Precious..!!” when ogling THE Ring of Power… Well, perhaps not quite THAT addictive/mental, but hey, who knows, huh?
    I’ve found that through my years of Knife/Rifle Collecting [it’s taken quite a few years to get to the point where I can actually afford to buy Expensive Fixed Blades, Rifles, etc. and I’m still discovering unknown knives that came to me merely by happenstance.. Having said that (& certainly not bragging, yet wanting to help others w/ our afflictions to find some great quality knives just by reading my partial listing below), here’s a few of my better purchases:
    Some of My Collection...
    1. Winkler Knives WK II S.A.R. Knife in 80CrV2 steel..;
    2. Spyderco Warrior {Discontinued for YEARS & V-E-R-Y HARD TO FIND} in H-1 steel, let alone a Vintage Pristine Condition one ~ which I DID on eBay for $425.00..!!!🇺🇸
    3. Spyderco Jumpmaster 2 in H-1 steel, which 100% RUSTPROOF [yet it doesn’t hold an edge at all]..!!!!!🇺🇸
    4. TOPS OPERATOR 7 Blackout Fixed Blade knife in 1075 steel🇺🇸
    5. RMJ/CRKT Kangee Tomahawk in SK5 Carbon Steel w/ Kydex Sheath🇺🇸
    6. Skallywag Tactical Military Guardian Serrated Cryogenic Treated D2 Stainless Steel w/ a Custom-Made to Fit THIS Blade PERFECTLY “Azwelke Sheath” Dagger. ☠️😈🇺🇸
    7. MicroTech SOCOM ALPHA M390 steel..;
    8. MicroTech Arbiter 204P steel Serrated Version..;
    9. Busse TGULB INFI Steel Nuclear Meltdown Competition Finish w/ AZWELKE Kydex Sheath…;
    10. Zero Tolerance ZT0561 Flipper Folder ELMAX Steel Titanium & G-10 Handle Slabs Stonewashed knife..;
    11. RMJ Eagle Talon Tomahawk in 80CrV2 Steel Superb Hawk w/ RAZOR Edged Head - and a Reverse SPIKE that’ll pierce modern UN EGG SHELL BLUE Kevlar Helmets..;
    PS: FYI - just some ramblings from my previous posts to aim your mind - ”…Additionally, I’ve gotta throw in my [just purchased via eBay for $299] Bucket List ULTIMATE BEST Of The BEST Fixed Blade EVER: The Spartan Blades Elite Grade Horkos CPM S45VN Stabber/Chopper (No.., not THAT Chopper!!)/Poker {as in Eye-Poker}/etc.
    The Balance, the Feel, the Obvious Attention to DETAIL.., YES, I’m Addiicted to Knives/Rifles.., yet I can’t stop Looking At/Holding this Creation of ART ~ The Scabbard’s lining is Felt-Coated, much like Daniel Winkler does w/ his ‘Works Of Art’ (got his S.A.R., too), but different in composition, …somehow (I got the Black one, which is CeraKote-layered) and even the Sheath’s Snap Holder is Adjustable with a Velcro Flip Sleeve - that’s something I’ve never seen before & I collect Fixed Blades & Tomahawks [for example, RMJ’s Eagle Talon, which is a BEAST, made of 80CrV2, w/ an I-Beam Construction and RAZOR Sharp head - in every angle you can imagine! It’s a BEASTLY TANK that draws Blood from it’s Owners regularly (i.e., ME!!) ~ I’ve been Bled several times & stand ready to model the adage “ ..it’s not your’s, until it draws blood from you.”].🇺🇸

How’s THAT for descriptive danger..?? 🇺🇸

    • @topfueljunkie100
      @topfueljunkie100 Рік тому

      How in the world did they spend $100k developing those very basic looking serrations on that skallywag dagger?! They're very basic looking with one wide scallop for every 2 small scallops.
      This is probably the most common serration pattern out there and thus the easiest and least costly to make seeing as everyone does them. Spyderco makes them literally all the time in many different models.

    • @DonnieBAllDay
      @DonnieBAllDay  Рік тому +1

      Andre, you have what's known as "the good stuff" in that collection. TFJ, they spend 100K mathematically creating perfection. Sure others do it, but they wanted to do it better. Engeineering isn't cheap

    • @topfueljunkie100
      @topfueljunkie100 Рік тому +1

      @@DonnieBAllDay Hi Donnie, thanks for that reply. I think I misunderstood the OPs comment and maybe even yours because I was thinking "there's no way they spent $100k developing a serration pattern that is so common and ubiquitous today, if so, they're doing it wrong!" so I went googling about this knife and investment and now see that that was the cost of the development of the entire knife and the collaboration surrounding it, not of just the serrations based upon their product description on their website.
      Rereading the OPs comment I see now how he could have meant that investment cost was for the entire knife, not just the serrations so I probably wasn't understanding his point properly. Maybe that was your point as well and I misunderstood that too.
      Either way, it now makes a lot more sense finding out that's what it cost Skallywag for fully developing the entire knife and not just the serrations.
      Keep up the good videos my friend. I only recently found you thru Scabs repeated mentions of you on his channel. I enjoyed your review of this Arbiter and will definitely be checking out lots more of your content as I like and appreciate your style.
