AWESOME review ! Those are all really great blades , and my favorite size for my EDC and knife tasks! This is a great video. My favorite 2 knives are my Winkler Crusher Belt knife with rubber handles, and my Skallywag Tactical and TOOR knives collaboration called the MUTINY and it is the perfect blade for me I love it!
Have a great day and keep up the great videos and information

They all look pretty cool but I will stick to my cold steel counter tac 2 and safe maker 1 and 2 push daggers due to their easy concealment and a great hand guard. Don't get me wrong, these looks awesome but imo some of them lack in safe hand guard and the blade tips do not look as robust as the ones on the knives I mentioned. Maybe it's because I carry them mainly for self defense purposes and the knives you show us can be used in a variety of diffrent ways. For diffrent purposes I carry civivi chavalier or victorinox alox bantam. Greetings from Poland, great content.

I can't edit the comment for some reason so Ill ad it here: My favourite one is the DCK what a handle! Btw I suppose these high value knives companies should put stainless steel on more often as from a guy who carry knives a lot It's much easier to catch a corrosion with a high carbon steel blades when carrying it on a hot day close to body. Of course you can put an oil on the edge etc. but at the end of the day a more softer steel is less likely to snap the tip off which is more important to me than holding an edge for 2years of continouous usage.

@@OGBladeReviews that's a sweet one for sure, and yes I did check out your review. Any reason you'd pick that over say a Guardian or a Nightguard? Maybe the grind on those is too specific for defense and not as versatile?

Sheath quality on high end knives is JUST starting to irk you?... It's been over 10 years, but at least TOPS has started to address this. Low quality sheaths coming with good knives grinds my gears too!

@@OGBladeReviews yesir, I think it were those words, which is why I emphasized 'just'. But I was just jerking your chain about it, as this has been a thing for a while at least with certain companies as I'm sure you're aware because I'm pretty sure you were just using an expression.

No worries. Been tracking blades for fifty years, but am noticing that Bastinelli needs to bring sheaths up to the level of the blades ... 👊🗡️👊

I don't believe many of these self-defense knife designers have actually really thought about what really happens in a knife fight.
I personally know blades smaller then 3in are worthless in cold weather.
One great point is the sheath needs to be able to be carried many different ways. Depending on weather clothes and most importantly comfort.
Also a point many don't understand if we are forced to use a knife. We want to be able to justify our actions.
That said stabbing repeatedly is hard to defend in court.
A slash to a tendon to stop from being hit. Is a easier case to make
Many of these designers seem to take inspiration from Hollywood.
I personally carry a coldsteel vaquero xl. Anyone can say stuff about lynn Thompson but they must admit he is a martial artist. On one video he explains why he still carries a vaquero xl. Serrated.
Don't get me wrong any knife beats a blank but these overpriced Hollywood art just aren't realistic for walking through Baltimore city.
My opinion but in my favor ive over 10 years of FMA and many years of other martial arts. An more then 30 years living in inner cities.

Thanks for your comment. For most, the use of a bladed tool in a last ditch, split second encounter remains entirely speculation. But choosing one size or method, I tend to side with the experience and philosophy of Mike Janich regarding a Wharnecliff style smaller blade for its ability to cut through layers to get to the target. If you can carry larger in your environment, then certainly go fore it!. The development of smaller fixed blades with higher price tags might be out of reach for many, but just as with any other tool some are willing to pay a price for quality, even if it's only their perception and not a reality necessity. 👍🗡️👊 For reference, my own FMA experience goes back to the mid-1980s under several noted instructors, including Dan Inosanto.

@@OGBladeReviews I trained in Florida under Tuhon Ray Dionaldo and his people. Then in Maryland with Apolo landra.
The thing about that wharnecliff blades. When we were trying different things jackets with met and pool noodle. Many tries didn't cut anything. It really kinda was a eye opener. I might have to make a video about it. We couldn't film our training because 2 of the guys were under cover. Not sure what they are always very tight lipped about work.
Anyway changed my mind about small blades. In summer time probably fine.

    • @OGBladeReviews
      @OGBladeReviews  4 місяці тому

Yes, as FMA teaches, small blades are for point work, swords are for edges. Have you connected with any of the Ed Calderon (Libre) people who practice on actual meat targets (hogs) and layers of clothing? They seem to have a clear mission for using small blades and backed by Ed's years of real experience as DEA and cartels.....
