We just got off Allure with a 2 bedroom Aqua Theatre suite. We justify having a suite because we spend about 50% of our time in our room. Having a Genie is the most amazing experience, I've never felt so pampered in my life. There's nothing like having the upcharge restaurant meals Delivered to your room like Room Service!!! Ultra beneficial to have the priority disembarking, we had terrible luck getting flights, and I could only find a 10AM flight. Romina whisked us off the ship by 7am, no hassles! Having the living room to congregate was awesome, and the balcony was our favorite spot to hang out. Secret to booking cheaper: I got this room the MOMENT the dates opened, and I snatched it up for only $9000 for the 3 of us.

I started in a balcony, but because my cruise got cancelled 3 times and the FFC was 125% each time we are now in a grand suite for our cruise in July. I am excited to give it a try.

Having a big room with all the amenities on standby for me is priceless . When I’m done for the day and I’m tired I want to come to my room and relax and Recharge in style is well worth the price . A Suite is what I’m saving for

it's worth every penny if you spend at least 30% of your cruise time in your cabin. Having the extra space, and the concierge (sky) or the Genie (star) to book everything for you is priceless.

We have booked a RC "Royal Loft Suite", that comes with a Concierge but no Genie or Butler service. We will be with a family group, and wanted a "home base" room where we can have cocktails every night before dinner. We have learned that (of course) we may not bring liquor onboard, and, the ship will not sell us liquor for our room. We also may not order drinks to be delivered to our room. Essentially, whenever we want an adult beverage in our room, we have to walk to the nearest bar and self-serve ourselves. Also, if we want to serve appetizers in our room, we may buy room service, but unlike to old days, the appetizers won't be delivered on trays, but in carryout containers. My point: I wish RCCL would offer higher-level service to suite guests, for a fee, so we may enjoy cocktails and food in our suite without running to a bar for every refill. Why book a suite with a living room and huge balcony if you cannot enjoy bar service while staying there?

I always book a suite on Celebrity Cruises. I am recently semi retired with a good retirement income and I feel I am worth it. I just can't go back to just a balcony room---too cramped. I also love all the perks and the pampering and The Retreat Lounge and how pretty much anything I want(within reason) I get. Luminae for dining is amazing. It is so worth the money for me.

We always book connecting rooms. Plenty of space, two bathrooms, two tv's... It is way less expensive than a suite and not that much more expensive than putting 4 people in a single cabin. There are not as many benefits, but it allows us to get the UDP, drink package and the key. I would love to try a Suite one of these days, but it is hard to justify the cost when you want to take more than one vacation a year.

Mark, I agree completely. I am booked with 2 balcony cabins for my family of 4- the 2 bathrooms and increased balcony space make it great and as you said barely more expensive than putting all 4 of us in one cabin- really a no-brainer,

Our first cruise we booked a balcony. It’s hard to go backwards, but we tried and once tried a promenade cabin. Not terrible. From there, after a couple more balconies that were mostly on the hump, we jumped to the Junior Suite and got stuck there (double points). in 2018 we booked window but upgraded due to unforeseen circumstances to the Royal on the Serenade. Almost too much cabin, although the person attention we got was phenomenal, including dinner at the Captains table. We’ve taken a couple of GS since then, it’s hard to go backwards, and on our February cruise we were able to Royal-up to the Owners Suite for only three hundred more (a little luck). It’s about the perks, the extra room that makes it comfortable to stay in cabin and that special feeling. I recommend people try it, if they can afford it, but remember, it’s hard to go back. Love the video

For me, I took my first suite cruise a few weeks back. I go on the Independence of the Sea out of Cape Canaveral and was lucky to get the Oceanview Panoramic Suite. It didn't have the balcony but that wasn't an issue but the view from the front of the ship with all the windows was great. Going to the Suite Lounge for nightly drinks was another big savings if you didn't want to buy a deluxe drink package because you don't drink that much. Our Concierge was great and was always there to help with any issues we had and to make our show reservations. The Suite Life was nice but I am not sure I would like the Grand Suites as much. I would love to see the Wonder's new Suite Deck.

We do not book suites, it’s simply just not in our everyday budget. Sure we could save more and do it but I’d rather go on more cruises. We don’t spend that much time in our room anyway other than to sleep and get ready for dinner. We do, enjoy a balcony room from time to time but are perfectly ok with an inside stateroom as well.

We did a very small room for our first cruise. Sucks!!! Lol We’ve done a suite ever since. Last three cruises we did the Crown Loft which is a awesome room. In March we have a Ultimate Panoramic suite with Royal Genie! Next year we’ll do the Star Loft.
Cost is usually between $10k-$15k for suite rooms we’ve done.

You can buy three to four separate cruises with inside cabins over one lower-level suite experience. I prefer to spend the extra money on excursions, activities, or just more cruises than having one opulent place to stay for such a short period of time. I do not spend very much time in my room on a cruise ship except to sleep, and I get great sleep in inside cabins. Even if I was extremely wealthy, I don't know that I could justify the extra cost. That said, if you can afford it and make the most out of it, enjoy!

My wife had the same mind set as you and pretty much the same cruise style, that is untill we married and I took her on a crusie I planned. She really enjoyed having a nice resting area after a packed filled day! And depending on when you book, sometimes it’s not all that cheaper. We just booked a owner’s suite which only below the Royal, for 5 nights. The price was only $280 more than a regular state room. Mainly because they want to sell the suite out since they have to pay for the Concierge’s to work those desk and I also got my LEO discount, but only on suites and higher.

We have two small children so we started booking junior suites with RC since they were the cheapest rooms with a bathtub for the kids. We are staying in a grand suite on our upcoming cruise to allow for additional space since our littles are now 4 and 6. I think the suites are a great option if you prefer extra space when traveling with the kiddos and don’t yet feel comfortable having your kids in a separate, albeit adjoining, rooms.

I really appreciate your opinion and perspective when it comes to presenting the various suite options and the plus/minus to help in decision making, as to whether or not to go up to a suite. We cruised Adventure of the Seas in early Jan. RC totally screwed up our reservation. By the time we got into our stateroom at 9:30 PM, we'd been offered a Jr. suite for an additional $100 (after price drops, our balcony reservation was only $618). I said FINE just so I could go to bed!!! Saying OK to our Junior suite was my BEST cruising decision ever. :-) Should have gotten the upgrade for free but.......that's another story for another time. 😉

I've booked the smaller Junior Suite for a Italy/Greece cruise this summer (Odyssey otS) after having one for Alaska some years ago. I think when you have a view to see all day and others traveling with you, a larger space to meet up or take in the views is worth it. You don't get the concierge / special room access, but also not the higher prices. We get access to board early and a better ship location mid ship. Mostly I like the view, large balcony and feeling of a living room to hang in when you have down time. Imagine the difference between 2 double beds in a hotel room and a king bed with sofa. Also you get double points toward future RCCL benefits. Last time we booked our youngest in the room across the hall with her sisters and the room steward had no problem making up the couch for her to stay with us. Odyssey has 2 bathrooms in these rooms in 2 configurations, tub/shower or shower and tub separate.

My first ever cruise on RCI was in March 2013 and I was on Voyager of the Seas on a repositioning cruise (Perth, Australia - Singapore) and I was in a Grand Suite. Every time I cruise it’s been with my family and I’ve got a father who likes to splurge, and every cruise I’ve done since (unfortunately only one) was on Explorer in what used to be called the Royal Family Suite (now a GS 2 Bedroom) and in Quantum next year in March I will be doing a GS 2 Bedroom again. I feel lucky and I appreciate every time but don’t get me wrong, if I had to stay in an inside room, a day spent at sea is better than a day on land.

We booked the 4 bedroom Presidential suite on Oasis of the Seas. Had the entire length of back of the ship as our balcony with a hot tub, bar, a 12 person table where they brought your meals to your room, a private cell phone to call our butler 24hrs a day, 4 bottles of Moet on ice upon arrival, full vip access to the ship, waited in zero lines. They also give you a different color access card for purchases on the ship. When you would hand it to the bartenders or servers they immediately treated you differently. It was an experience I will never forget. If you want to feel truly VIP I highly recommend it.

Sailing later this month in a 1BR grand suite. This is our 3rd cruise with RCCL since COVID ended. We choose the suites because I do have 2 children, 10 & 8 and like the space. We are not yet ready to put them in a separate room to do the connected rooms. If just the wife and I cruise, we usually don't get the suite. One more thing about the suites that was not mentioned in the video is double points. We live in Chicago, so cruising also requires flights, and at least a few days off work. So, it isn't reasonable to cruise 4, 5, or 6 times a year, like I would like. So, since I can't cruise all the time, the double points is nice to build status quicker. In another year or 2, when I feel the kids are ready, we may visit the idea of dong the connected rooms instead of the suite. However, we are becoming rather accustomed to the additional perks, like priority boarding and the concierge lounge. Since we are limited on availability to just "spend the money on another cruise" we like to treat ourselves when we are able to get away for a week or more.

It went very well. The Grande Suite was large enough that he could sleep in a pack n play. The bathroom is much larger with a bath instead of a small stand up shower. The room itself was very nice and a great size for the three of us. We would put him in daycare from 7-10 so we could eat dinner. We barely spent any time in the room, but when we did the Grande Suite was big enough. There are so many activities for children on the boat. I would def recommend a Grand Suite, don’t think you need to go bigger than that while the kids are still young. Plus the Suites have added perks and concierge. We will never go smaller than a Grand Suite on a cruise again. You feel like you’re in a hotel room, not a closet.

On the cruise I was just on, the Monsters Of Rock Cruise (MORC), which was on the Royal Caribbean ship Freedom Of The Seas, a suite absolutely would have been a waste of money in my opinion. Our cabin was used to basically sleep in, along with using the restroom/shower. We had too much fun seeing bands play (I averaged 7-9 bands per day), dining, and meeting up with friends/band members. I didn't even leave the boat on one of the stops (Cozumel) as there was too much fun going on the ship to miss. For our trip, minimal time was spent in our cabin, thus it wouldn't have been worth spending extra $. See the video @ 11:25.

We usually book a balcony room and depending on the ship/line will also book the deluxe balcony for a little more space for the 2 of us. For years we wanted to try a suite, and finally booked for Nov. 2020 on HOS and then it was canceled due to COVID. Now we are holding until things are a little safer and the ports are a sure thing before we rebook. I am interested in the differences of suite-life on RCL vs NCL. I’ve priced NCL and found that their suites in the Haven provides butler service and is not reserved for just the high dollar suites, so am thinking about trying it just to see which I like better. Of course, the thing that gets me is all of this is not as good of a value if you look at the balcony prices on Seabourn where nearly everything (even alcohol) is include in the fare; like the old days … So many choices (big sigh).

My husband and I laugh over our cruising. First and second cruise promenade room. Third cruise balcony. Fourth, grand suite. Fifth cruise owners suite. Sixth cruise star class 2 bedroom aqua theater suite. Seventh cruise, owners panoramic in Sept 2022. We stick with owner and above because I use a mobility scooter we need room to park it. Grand suite has no shower and I can’t step into their bathtubs so that’s a no go. Hubs hate the roll in accessible shower plus there’s so few of any accessible cabins that we leave them for folks that can’t walk at all. We just prefer suites and what they offer even if we have to wait to cruise so we can afford it.

Hi thanks for the sharing the topic and love it. We have been going on the Royal Caribbean’s at least five times but we always staying in the star class ans grand suite two bedroom cuz 1 like you said the space and two we have two grown up kids in the theirs 20s it’s hard to stay in a cabin that is for four cuts it’s too crowded and my daughter won’t stay in the same so far bed lol she would kill her bro. Now since we are a Diamond guests we think maybe downsize to just a regular state room and maybe connecting? But we like the service on the suite lol. Do you think we just save money ans stay in the regular stateroom?

I bid on three different suites because between the included wifi and the drinks I would have needed yo pay that separately, so why not try? Otherwise, I'm sticking with the balcony.

Matt I just looked at the price of a suite for poop and giggles. For a Junior Suite it is touching the price of my 10 night top tier butler room at Sandals in which you get a designated butler. No thank you, I am good with my simple balcony room which I always get that is one door from the Solarium.

Matt, I won a Royalup bid to a Grand Suite from a balcony for only $320 total (160pp)...as a solo!! I am very excited; however, a few downsides....I already paid for The Key and Deluxe Bev Package which I guess I could have received some free drinks and key "upgrades" with the suite. (the key cost I paid is still cheaper than Surf & Stream, so it's still worth it) Another downside is it's only a 3 night cruise. I guess if it was a 5 day or more that $320 would have been really good! But on the plus side is getting a suite concierge and free room service.

We paid $450 for the both of us on a 7 day cruise with unlimited alcoholic drinks. Spending $28k for a room is unnecessary unless you don't ever plan to leave the room.
