Pentakill music slaps so hard and the lore quality is fantastic
Everytime i hear about the mmo i think about a raidboss’ 2nd revival phase and acoustic lightbringer in the background
gameplay is by far the most important, that includes everything from mechanics to progression, to endgame, to pvp, how fun or laborious the "spell roations" are etc. any flavouring like aesthetics, animations, lore & music is very important but always second to gameplay
^^^^ literally everything Azzap said is useless to real MMO players.
I can only tolerate watching Anduin in cinematics if the new raid / dungeons are fun enough to spam
You log into the league mmo, you here drums, loading screen music starts playing, it's the old draft mode champ select song. You drop a tear, start leveling and never log into league again
I Didn't know you have a degree in game design until all the Vel'Koz boycott on Twitter, as a fellow Vel'Koz main and game designer as well, you are quickly becoming one of my favorite league youtubers
As neither Velkoz main (gragas main) or game designer (legalized drug dealer), I agree he is awesome and becoming my favorite league tuber not for the esports side
Hi asking as a grogor main, can you lend me some marichuana? Need it to make some bomba combos

We need to see gameplay to understand fail or not. If gameplay will be trash, no music or lore can fix it
Kinda, Maplestory has amazing lore and music but we all know the gameplay is ass and somehow the game is still alive with 5 digits playerbase.
@@CloudKXII wow has good gameplay, ff14 has good gameplay, story and music and OSRS is a lot of nostalgia with actually engaging gameplay for it's intendes audience. So you cannot escape from gameplay as a new MMO
They must do a dlc for the lore of shaco

I believe in Rito
wtf... no ? the gameplay depth and volume is most important as well as the social mechanics are the backbones of a good mmo. the story line and content quality is the polsih that increases player retention. it s kinda documented when you look at destiny 2 and WoW s dev blogs
Yeah rite. Animations and storytelling? Bro said “think of what makes an mmo successful” and listet like the least important factors
A game having good depth and volume doesn't make a game popular out the gate. It keeps the game popular after people discover it for themselves. Having a massive fan base, amazing music, amazing cinematics, good art direction, etc etc ensures the gane will be massive at the start regardless of how good or bad the game is. Just being able to walk around on the map they've been showing us for years will bring in hundreds of thousands of people alone. The rest of the game decides how many stay and how many leave.
@@vastayanvixen685cope, there’s a reason no one thinks of ffxiv over wow when they think of successful mmos
What is bro on about? Gameplay is for sure a first, if it's gameplay loop and progression is awful none of that matters. Ffxiv, the most popular mmo right now had to be remade because it's gameplay was bad then all the music and story was made to shine.
14 is also ok with people playing other games.
I have a feeling league mmo is going to double down on dailies like WoW
Brother have you played any mmo’s? Tab target go kill 20 boars was the pinnacle of mmo game design and it hasn’t progressed much since 😂
Rito: *-Microtransactions!-*😁📈📈📈💸💷💶💵💴💰
These are minor things that help support an MMO but content, eng game specifically is what makes or breaks an mmo. If you have none or it's repetitive it'll die rapidly. Even with average graphics, story, questing it can still be amazing with always new and rewardinf, grinding content.
yea most distinguishing feature of MMOs is that the developers show complete ignorance towards their community and riot has already mastered the art.
Everything Riot does that's not league never really backfires. Look at arcane and their music as well as comics and indie game like that ziggs one.
I myself am a story lover, but to make a massive MMO the order is.
1. Gameplay
2. Variety in end game
3. Aesthetics
4. Music
5. Story
Sad to say, but story is not required at all for an MMO. Most MMO players see it as a throwaway part to 'get to the good stuff' at end game. Ff14 is the only story focused MMO and it would have died if the gameplay and music weren't absolute bangers
5.
Ive been saying that if Riot cant make a good MMO Im done looking for an MMO, the genre is dead to me if they fail.
MMOs are very complex to make. Gameplay is the most important part.
If I had to bet I would say Riot will make a good MMO if not the best MMO out there, but just because they have a good track record that doesn't mean much when making an MMO. The genre is complex and extremely expensive to make.
It would be sick to have a helldivers 2 esque game with legends. PvE with ADC bosses
Riot be like: hmmm we heard everyone wanting us to make an mmo, ok we'll make a racing game
What I worry about is most of the cool stuff in League such as Pentakill is from a multiverse not actual league lore
I really cannot wait. As long as they nail the core gameplay loops i will play tf out of it.
Well this might have aged really poorly after the lay off incident. It could also mean more resources for the mmo tho
Not gonna lie..a good MMO is the ones that we dont know/ aren't talked about... because everything that have a climactic climb eventually will fall. Genshin impact for example.. amassing over 12 M download at onepoint and now steadily dropping as we speak.. a good mmo are those that are reserved for the mmo fans and not flashy enough to attract newer players that will drop out in weeks.
He said nothing about "MMO" he just talked about rpg xdd, the way they can ruin it are the mechs of each char, the overall gameplay, the bosses, etc
2xKO verified how good their music is with that trailer.
Even if the gameplay is subpar everything Azzapp said could easily get me invested in it for a while as a casual player.
Although good gameplay would definitely be required to get me hooked on the game for longer.
No the gameplay is what makes an mmo, not the cinematic, not the music, this GAMEPLAY
They can easily fuck up the mmo, the gameplay seems to be what most mmo's fuck up nowadays, so it's entirely possible the game ends up terrible because the gameplay becomes terrible
Never assume a game is gonna be good. Even if the track record of the company who is making it is good. We all should have learned this by now.
love in to see a hack and slash game from riot like what you see with hyrule warriors and the like, but set around all the big void event that will never happen.
Im going to be honest, if you actually play MMORPGs you know that it isn’t about the animations/cinematic or the soundtrack, don’t get me wrong they help. However you wont pickup an mmo just because it has good visuals.
What I want in a mmo is good gameplay, a class system that is balanced (solo or team play), good PvE and PvP systems, a good learning curve, a good difficulty curve, good amount of early, mid and late game content (specially late game), regular added content, and a developer team that listens to players (take Warframe’s dev team as an example).
And most importantly, a cash shop that is mainly cosmetic and quality of life stuff (ff14 for example), No p2w bs,
Even if they had to make the game subscription based.
If you follow up on mmorpg news you’d know that a couple of big companies tried and failed in making mmos and lost money on them, so im not expecting much until i see a closed/open beta.
This is my opinion as someone who played mainly mmorpg for 10 years.
Disagree, I don't think music or animation has anything to do with an MMO doing well or not. Lore even is not required to make an MMO good either. Gameplay and world building is the most important.
If the gameplay is repetitive, it WILL fail.
I swear im gonna get to a point where im settled in life then they gonna release the MMO and ima get addicted and fall into the same pit of depression the moba put me in
Story and music are no doubt a critical part to an MMO's success. But in my opinion, the single most important thing for a successful MMO is having enjoyable, balanced combat, both for PVP and PVE. The story and music are great, the combat/gameplay is what keeps you coming back.
You forget 1 thing : Thier gameplay team (Aka thier balance team). We all know how 'Good' they are now
There is WAYYYY MORE INVOLVED THAN THAT. IF IT WAS ONLY THOSE TOPICS THEN ELDERSCROLLS ONLINE WOULDVE SUCCEEDED. This clip? Literally an echo chamber in effect right here.
The only way i can see league mmo fail is somehow Ex-EA/unity ceo become the new ceo
They should ask Yoshi-p to direct XD
Azzap as always is spitting straight facts
I actually can't believe people are sitting here and going "Good gameplay is what makes an MMO great!" and then they list shit like WoW as if tab targeted MMOs aren't almost as objectively terrible on the gameplay side as turn based games and I love turn based games. Pretending that MMOs are some bastion of great gameplay is insane to me. It's not like we're talking about an MMO like Black Desert Online which has actual gameplay baked into the default game experience.
im so fucking excited for this mmo, i have high hopes
Azzapp: I can't imagine how they can fail!
Riot: Phreak will be the main dev for the MMO!
❤️
Micrtransactions out the ass like Lost Ark where you can't upgrade shit without WEEKS of grinding
it could be the next big mmo
Yeah, the lords of the ring MMO had all of those too…
That is true but.
If it feels sluggish its done for.
Dont forget they've taken anyone with any talent off all their other games and put the on this
I’m going to humbly disagree, what makes an MMO great has nothing to do with art and music, in fact the game could look like shit and have the most addicting gameplay loop ever.
one thing they really should do, is make the entry and just release the full thing paid. no bp no nothin
only way it fails if it never comes out imo would be hard for a riot game of that caliber to do bad imo
Riot does EVERYTHING PERFECT BUT THE GAME, I don't remember NOT A SINGLE BAD CINEMATICS, 90% their songs slaps, lore and as already said the cinematics like warriors are straight up 100% perfect, the game basically sucks, I mean yeah you like it or not, but when you think at things like removing more and more lethality builds for ex for Caitlyn that worked good only with her ult, nerfing impregnator grags that worked only IF played as support IF he reached full build, removing pings and chat if you say the slightly toxic thing, the game abandoned the "gaming design" just to keep on a "e-sport and serious shit not fun design", or that's what I perceive at least
Never underestimate Riot's ability to mess something up
Riot has everything except the gameplay. In MMO gameplay is the king. That's the only possible way that MMO can die. Also Riot should not politicize it. WOW is dying out because it got politicized. Riot has to be bold with lore and game will florish if they hit the gameplay part.
Riot transitioning League of Legends to a Riot MMO is in the same position that Blizzard was in with Warcraft 3 to World of Warcraft. I agree that the Riot MMO will be mega successful.
Man, you are talking about every videogame that should have this parts that you mentioned. But in MMO there is no sense in this things. You need only mechanic, if mechanics are bad for party in PVE or PVP this MMOrpg will be thrown away even for simple players.
If they make MMO like they made their other Forge games, boy oh boy it'll be brilliant!
You mean it will be shot down shortly after release for being unprofitable and overpriced
I usually agree with your takes, but this one I'm going to wholeheartedly disagree with. Good storylines is what makes a singleplayer game great, where you can interact with and change story elements and characters around you. What makes a great MMO is either great gameplay mechanics for PvP or PvE, with a rich and immersive world as a bonus. Wow didn't become the biggest MMO of all time by having a good story - no one cared about that. They loved the enthralling worldbuilding and gameplay. Then it stayed relevant for soon two decades by having great PvE mechanics. Star wars Kotor was a great singleplayer game because of story and characters, but when they tried to focus an MMO around it in ToR it mostly failed. A singleplayer game can be carried by a great story alone, an MMO cannot.
On the topic of music, Riot hasn't exactly made music to get you immersed into the game world, they've made music to sell skins and skinlines, plain and simple. Quite effectively, mind you, but it's not to deepen the lore or love of the game mostly, it's to sell skins. Most of said music will be unusable in the MMO because you cannot exactly mix Pentakill, KDA and Rap music in a fantasy style MMO.
I'm not personally going to be playing the MMO since I'm not too fond of League's style now a days, but if you want to play it and hope it's good, don't overhype it. Overhype and setting too high expectations is what killed New World, which was one of the biggest releases and crashes in MMO history. If you want riots MMO to succeed you have to give it space. And don't expect a masterpiece.
if the game design team and the balance team are not the same as leagues, than yes, it won't fail, tho it will take just a lil bit of idiotism on that front to ruin everything. The 2nd biggest concern is monetization, idk how they will do it and i can only hope its done right, i don't play MMO-s but im troubled by the standards of the industry and how really well made inspired projects fail while greedy cheep unoriginal cash grab gotya games thrive, even worse some genuenly brilliant endeavors like blizzard get corrupted by greed over time and become dumpsterfires and a disgrace to their original legacy - and im just talking buisness, craftsmanship and long term company health, don't even get me started on the treatment of players.
didn't necrit make a whole ass vid on how riot is clueless towards the progression of runeterra lore?
I believe in riot that isn't the league balancing team
Nothing you named makes a good mmo lmao
Are you surprised? 75% of anything he says is just a turbo dog shit take
they want to perfect the ganre just like they did with league
but unlike league starting from 0 and going in the deep with 0 expectations the MMO will be starting from 95% with massive expectations
just imagine the hype behind diablo 4 and how it disappointed
this is something they fear deeply
they have to do dailies right
weeklies right
commitment levels right
content for people who log in once a week and content for those that spend 12 hours a day right
then they have to do update cadance right
league has a bi-weekly update cadance and people get tired of the meta literally 3 days in
so when you consider all that it means that the hype of the game may be the thing that makes it fail
because everything already setup prior is amazing
because there is such a high hype behind it
it is 100% bound to not meet expectations of the masses
in contrast look at song of nunu
look at the ruined king
these games didn't release with expectations
they were side projects with other studios
they didn't come with hype so people enjoyed them for what they were
they also so happened to be amazing games which helped a lot
but riots MMO is different
i think it for sure won't fail in the MMO world
it might even surpass WoW
but even if it succeeds in dwarfing WoW it will still fail because everyone will look to bring it down because that would be the meta click bait
WHY THIS GAME DOESN"T RESPECT YOUR TIME
kek
i'm memeing now but you'd hate it when it happens
Is this a real thing in the works? Might actual be dope
All I can say is do not underestimate riot games and think "they can't fuck it up"... They'll find a way, they always do
The reason why it would ”fail” is cause it competes with the same fanbase.
You are splitting resources or adding a whole another team to build something to compete with your own, already existing product.
This was different with Valorant cause that game caters to a completely different audience.
A league MMO, albeit most likely being very good, would most likely be a financial catastrophe to the investors considering what scope an MMO usually aims for.
It stays and falls with the PVE gameplay. They will copy WoW PVE endgame and will rely on the LoL IP to market it.
I'm sorry but you are wrong. While those things are important, they take a backseat for gameplay. Gameplay is king. And excellent gameplay will also point the player and make use of the other good elements like the story.
Music? I literally mute every game I play lol.
i think he's wrong. having bad gameplay is what can make or break an MMO
I don't think Riots MMO will fail either. But I am curious how you came to determine those three elements, and why they make a MMO successful.
well ghostcrowler didn't quit for no reason i believe they doing something wrong as usual
All good and rainbows ,but i dont see the balance team :)
Somehow Riot has everything to make a perfect MMO and they have a way to ruin it
The combat systems is the most important for mmo rpgs does it have pvp or is it pvpve or whatever also living powerfantasies is also important thats why lost ark is more popular than new world riot mmo has to live up to being a runterrian also classing imo is important new worlds way of classing is horrid where lost ark and any classic mmorpg are good
the only way it could fail is im the change their workers.
Ironically riot is getting sued for discrimination rn 😂
I dream of riot mmo
What MMO needs more than anything is community. And Riots community is propably as bad as it can get
Bro hasn't played an MMO if he thinks cinematics and music are the biggest determining factors look at WoW the past 10 years lmao
When the MMO drops I can finally uninstall forever
Then company becomes giddy af and just milk a game with mid expansions.
RIP WOW
It’s so strange that everything about league of legends is great except the actual main game 💀
have to disagree HARD. MMOS live and die because of their community. some of the most popluar mmos have shit gameplay and/or graphics. just look at WoW. Most important thing is how social it is.
Money money money.
Music has a higher value than lore in any mmo game, and animation is not relevant.
If the system is not stimulating enough, you won't play even if Elon Musk did the story line.
What sticks with a player is the mechanics being fun and the music that follows you outside the game.
Anything else is absolute, not relevant.
Let me tell you about the old Republic and how yes riots mmo can very much fail
Until they make it gacha
Its gonna fail, simple as that, i don't think ive seen more then maybe 5% succeed and even then, the ones that did are on their last legs
I dunno, I think the mmo genre is dead, it’s a risky genre
Storyline, music, and cutscenes mean nothing if the combat is ass
No, cuz it just would be a 1000x better genshin, and genshin is imo peak MMO
they dont make mmo because it would kill their qeue times in league
Gonna have to disagree on the premise. MMOs generally arent good at all. They just spike the dopamine receptors of people that literally have no sense of progress in their actual lives. There are some exceptions both with games and people. But games like diablo. WoW. FF. All are just buttom mashing waste of brain space. There is no inherent value. No skill being expressed. Its depressing honestly.
Nah, chief, that's nowhere near what makes an mmo good.
Mmos live and die by their gameplay loop.
People don't quit wow just because current lore and cinematics are shit (blizzard is actually famous for their major cinematics), they quit it because it is an unbalanced and repetative chore simulator with no meaningful content.
Sounds like a certain game you know yet?
WoW left the chat
Thank god mmo dont need balancing often 😂
make it like gacha game, all the characters are unlockable with gacha based
it could fail if the combat system is really bad.
only way to fucked up the MMO is making gameplay sucks.
MMO gameplay sucks as standard
@@joaovmlsilva3509 You just don't like them I guess
