They came out really great, people are selling these for really expensive and I'm not about to pay all that money when I can make it myself.
Erin, this is genius! Thank you! The video went over the details too quickly for my parched brain, but by slowing it to 25% during the glue-up I was able to fathom your technique. But now I’m a subscriber. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much for sharing your design and ideas; this got me started on finally making proper covers for my van!
Thanks girl! Love you and your video. I am going to be making these next week so wish me luck!
Thumbs up for the camera angle 👍🏿
They look GREAT! Thank you! The other ones are way too expensive.
So helpful! Thanks for the tutorial! Bout to try and make them! Wish me luck!
Thanks Erin for the video! We were able to create window covers/pillows to slide in between all the windows and shades to block out all light (stealth mode). Now we have to figure best way to handle the back windows since the trim is all plastic - no metal for magnets. Thanks again!
Awesome job! Thanks for the tutorial, I will be busy tomorrow making curtains for my van :)
They came out great! You’ve inspired me to try it myself 😊
Bullcrap, they are beautiful! You did it! They look great! Look forward to the next project!
Not beautiful? Those look pretty legit to me!!! I'm so proud of you doing a cool DIY for so cheap :) I hope the rest of the van build goes well! Also I like the box of TNT in your house 😂
Dad gave it to me hahaha i think Kip got a bunch of them so he took 5. Theres more if u want one!
Great job and a very helpful tutorial. Thanks so much!
Good job girl. I made my own and used black fabric. Stay safe have fun building 👍👏
WOWOWOWOW your video has been so incredibly helpful; thank you so much!
Thanks for making this video. Gives me the confidence to just make my own for my first van build!
ahh that makes me so happy to hear!
I also checked out the high quality window coverings but not willing to dish out that much money. I like your design and they look awesome. I like the glue gun. Your video is relaxed but very descriptive and easy to understand. Keep it up and good luck with the van build.
I hope I one day reach your level of DIY. Those look GREAT E dawg. I wouldn't even think to do those myself- and that's a good amount you saved!
hahah I love you!
That was awesome. Nice job....
I'm going to try
first time watching your videos!! you are awesome!!!!
Haha love it thanks for sharing! You're entertaining and insightful!
I think they they look great! Good job 👌👏
love your style... simple is better! you inspire! will be making some of these today!!!!! thanks x million
yay! hope they turned out!
They look great!
Fab, going to make them... but I will probably try and figure out a way to leave one side of the reflectix showing. 99% of the insulation you want on windows is reflecting the sun out... not conduction (way more important on panels)
This was helpful! thank you
Lol , getting ideas to improve my car block outs off you Erin Michelle, so this Erin Michelle.R can get hers looking just as good.
Excellent job! I like this idea!
Had to laugh at me watching you, watching Emmon and all laughing together. All together and yet so far.. yea not together at all though, still feels like we “shared” a good laugh separately.. in different states. Ha! The internet is so interesting that way. But ya looks like you will have enough of that black webbing to send some my way, I mean what are you going to do with the other 20 something yards left over? Ha, I hope you post every wee little thing you make, every Van protect you do, because you are really clever and your stuff is sound! The videos you post are really helpful, FUNNY, and encourage me to feel like ok, I got this!! Such great tutorials REALLY! Thank you.OXO ✌️
Hahahah I lol'd while reading this! Thanks for leaving a comment and glad you enjoyed :) I'll keep em coming!
These are awesome!!!
Thanks, good advice.
VERY NICE JOB !! As well as versus $300. Bought. Pat Yourself on the Back. You could sell some of these to Cover the Cost for your Conversion. New Sub from California.
Thank you for this video. I’m getting ready to make these , hope they turn out as well as yours. You should make them and sell them .
Good video and well worth making your own screens
You did a great job!
Good job! I'm gonna try it :)
Erin Michelle you crack me up.... like the time when you forgot what you were doing!
Reflectix need an air gap on both sides for it to work!! Loads of people use reflectix wrong.
But there is an air gap on both sides.
Erin, your DIY window covers are my favorite so far of all I've seen. I was just curious, has the glue held up? I think I'd like to try this method. Also, I love your swivel seat video. You go, girl! :)
Thank you!! The glue has held up. Good luck :)
@@ErinMichelle just saw my answer about glue holding up. There are different in glue sticks for different projects. Which type of glue stick did you used? Great video. Raw footage which is good. Shows we are human.
Those windows covers look legit. I need some real bad cuz I have a 40" TV in my van, I don't want ppl to see.... your listening to Gary Clark Clark Jr. huh? My friend grew up with him in Austin. I used to go see him before he got famous.
Wow I have a shuttle bus new buy. Want to run atleast an 30inch how could I run it a few hrs budget friendly lol
That's so dope! I saw him last year at Shaky Knees music fest in Atlanta. One cool dude.
You are cool girl. Thanks for the video. Jammin to that leon bridges
You are amazing, looks great.
i believe reflectix only reflect heat / light. u should use closed cell foam with foil backing on 1 side and use dark fabric on the other side for colder weather. but it will only provide like up to 1R value. combining thinsulate or wool / polyster filling will get u slightly more insulation depending the thickness. but yea they will increase total cost. thats why ppl selling full set of window insulation for $1000+
👍 Great job
Most enjoyable vid, hope others are as watchable
Nice job!
AWESOME!!!!!
Instead of snaps, use velcro. Sew black webbing on by hand. Can not machine sew due to the magnets.
They turned out great! I'm about to embark on a diy window cover adventure myself and thought I would have to learn to sew. Temps get quite high where I live, 40+ in summer (104 f). Have you had any issues with the glue on hot days? (possibly you haven't had any hot days since this video was published)
Thank you!! I havent had any issues but also havent been in super hot weather. They've been fine though in about 90 degree heat
inputting the gaps seems like an unneeded extra step. reflectix will still roll up without breaks/gaps. so what's the point? someone fill me in.
Hi Erin, just found your channel. It has been over two years since your window covering video I am wondering how your hot glued window coverings have held up? Cheers!
perfect
Great job.....be safe
Looks pretty good - but I wondered, wouldn't it be easier/more durable to sew them?
Good luck with the build - I'm subscribing and I'll be back for more!
It probably would be but I was too lazy! haha
I basically just binged all your videos (not ashamed)...what do you use to edit them? you are so good at it!!
Hahah omg thank you!! Im flattered you think they're interesting enough to watch! I started out using iMovie and nowadays I use Final Cut Pro. It really is just practice though! Back in the day.. like even middle school, Sophie and I would edit videos for class in iMovie. So legit over a decade of practice! Which is also really weird that that's even possible haha
Yes they are entertaining, I love the humor lol. Super inspiring too, I was telling Eddie how we have to go backpacking now 😂😂
You’re so creative! 👏 Thank you so much for this video! We made those too (with a few changes), wanted to tag you but couldn’t find ya... what’s your IG?
oh awesome! I'm @_erinwilson
Work smarter not harder! #vanlife
Have all the hot glued spots held up since you did this?
Hi, Do you have a link of the hot glue gun?
Velcro would have been easy. :-) Great job.
ohh instead of the snaps? Good idea!
Did you glue everything and what type of hot glue.
I just used regular craft glue you can get at Walmart.. but I would recommend something stronger! It started to peel off a bit
Won't the hot glue melt???
Ooh, also was it $50 for one or both of those?
For both!!
how long did it take you ?
wondering the same thing - great job by the way
Thank you! It took around 6 hours I'd say
When is the next video? Any more updates?
hey! So nice of you to check in! Right now, the floor is finished and fan is installed, but that's it! We figured that was bare essentials for the first trip. Did a big drive up to Minnesota a few weeks back to do a canoeing trip in the Boundary waters. It was sooo amazing and I vlogged the whole thing! So the next videos you'll see will be that! Ben and I still work a lot so we're trying to slowly chip away at the build. Just want to make sure we're enjoying the process rather than stressing about it.
No plans yet but you never know! Sounds like an awesome time - we'll definitely keep it in mind :)
Need editing.
