The most fun I had with friendly fire was when I asked my friend to shoot me in the back while I stowed my shield to see if itd still protect me. Not only dud it work, the bullet ricochetted into my other friend.
This is off topic but i'd like to thank you for the roamer/lone wolf video. I listened to some of the advice on the video and took baby steps into achieving this role. I may have to use the supply pack a lot now but I have been able to solo side objectives, heavy outposts/nests and complete the main objective on difficulty 7 fairly consistently while my team does other things. (When the video came out, I was only breaking off a little bit from the group to take on stuff along the way) Once again, I thank you for your advice and now i'm sharing the same advice to my friends.
Friendly fire; with friends, hilarious. With randoms...awfully hilarious (as in, its a horrible thing to be doing...but yet it's still REALLY funny). Main stories I have with friendly fire are as follows: First one, as we're extracting he shoves me and runs into the dropship, so I stand in the doorway and shoot him in the head with the revolver, to which his only response was to laugh and say 'oh, grab the samples, I had the Supers'. He knew what he did, and I knew what I was doing. All in fun. Second was my friends and I were with a random and I was trying to get the Samples Trophy (where you go to extraction with fifteen Commons), and my friends gave me all of theirs. Turns out the random had the Commons I didn't (amassing to ten out of twenty, so I needed them for it), and as I try to open the Chat to text him to drop them, my one friend 'convincingly accidentally' gut shots him with an Autocannon. Horrible practice...but I got the trophy, so, fuck. I get both sides of the argument, but at the end of the day it's general manners; long as you're not randomly doming people repeatedly, and it's framed in a friendly 'lethal sparring session' kind of vibe it usually isn't a problem unless someone's taking themselves way too seriously.
18:20 it's all fun and games on those rocks until u accidentally hit ur dive key instead of ur prone key and yeet urself off the rock into a mosh pit of hulks
Im only 20 seconds into the video, but heres my hot take on friendly fire, lol Once was an accident. Twice was my fault. Three times is enemy action. The first time, you misjudged the radius of the cluster bomb. No biggie. The second time, i positioned myself poorly knowing that you dont know how to use your strategies. The third time, I've done all i could to avoid you. Like i ran across the map solo, and you followed, and the only time i die is when you show up. After we get past event three, considering you're above rank 25.... It's full pvp until you're gone or the mission ends. A lack of experience or, OR you get on the mic and explain is the only acceptable circumstance for me. If it's just endless silent friendly fire, then you're just another hostile unit on the field for me to eliminate. I go to this extreme because the overwhelming amount of my deaths is a direct result of friendly fire. Literally, the biggest threat to me on the map is from other helldivers. Especially against bugs. The logical counter is just only solo, and that's fair, but it's nice to find that perfect squad that understands threat vectors, lines of fire, and target identification. There are some groups where a blue on blue incident doesnt even need to be addressed because we all know it was an accident so we just move on with out a word, if even a quick sorry bro. That kind of professionalism is always appreciated even tho it's just a game. So those rare occasions are worth the slog. Even, the game itself is worth the slog, and if its really that bad enough, ill just leave. You should too as there is no penalty. But thats a last resort. Honestly friendly fire and random crashes are my buggest qualms with the game right now. All acceptable for the moment as even the most stable ps5 games have crashes. But randoms panic firing/not caring about where their bombs land is the worst thing about the gane rn. I do not beleive that friendly fire should be turned off as it adds a layer of comolexity to the game however i feel there will always be some who just dont understand it. So they should be eliminated with extreme prejudice. Otherwise they threaten democracy! I wish theyd add a feature that auto kicks after a certian amount of friendly fire even tho the intro said theres nothing you can do about friendly fire lolol yes there is. Theres a lot you can do. Like learning the trajectory of your eagles before bringing them into a suicide mode and above. Like learning how the arc thrower acts down range. Like knowing that a single shot from the incendiary breaker can kill anyone behind whatever youre actually shooting at. Theres alot you can do and you should because above all things the mission comes first. Dont become the one thing standing between democracy(me) and the mission. After all that friendly fire you should know that the best way to kill a helldiver, is whith another helldiver that is very pissed off. The game can be hard enough at times, why make it worse because you can't slow down and think. Or you donr realize that samples are shared amongst the squad and it doesnt matter carries them so long as they make it to extract. Or just simply... someone was down range and you were either too lazy or too uneducated to find another way to solve the issue so you just called in lethal strategems on teamates bacause you're, well, stupid. Edit: Hope you enjoyed that text wall and also some spelling/grammar fixes but there was unfortunately too many to address.
With a pre-made team of the right people I find it's much more understandable. We all know what makes each other tick and sometimes we tempt fate for the laugh.

I'm glad you were able to have some useful takeaways from it all.

You can’t have friendly fire without being friends
So long as the samples are safe 🤣

I've seen young kids shoot teammates for fun only to get wrecked by the entire team lol don't do this with randoms people!!
