- The Australian and NSW governments are securing a brighter future for Western Sydney’s growing residents, visitors and workers by delivering the new M12 Motorway - a toll free connection to the Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport.
The 16 kilometre motorway features two lanes in each direction with capacity for future widening to three lanes.
Major construction started in August 2022 on the West and Central sections between The Northern Road, Luddenham and Duff Road, Cecil Park. We expect the new motorway to be complete by 2026.
The M12 Motorway, as part of the Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan, is expected to deliver significant travel time reductions and increased travel time reliability to road users and freight operators, by providing a high standard and efficient connection to the proposed Western Sydney Airport compared to using the existing road network.
The total cost of the project is $2,039 million. The Australian Government is providing $1,631 million and the NSW Government is providing $408 million towards the construction of this project.

Awesome video Colin, really gives great understanding of how the M12 will be linked to the new WSI and existing road infrastructure, the aerials are exceptional!
Thank you 👍 😊
Great to see the birds eye view after driving by this construction a lot.
One point i want to make, though, is the music is a little loud over your voice - mostly in that first song for first 3 mins
Informative video; but be sure to tone down the music whenever the commentary comes in.
Great aerials again Colin
Thank you 😊
Massive and great. Looks like the designers may have been inspired by Lego, Meccarno ,Super Mario and Ikea. When finished ,the user only need to miss one point and their nightmare begins ,especially when running late for a plane. Alas you have done a brilliant job , thank you and we all wish you a very Happy New Year.
Thank you and happy new year to you and your family 😊
The current airport is a frigging nightmare to navigate!
@amaknusa9212 totally agree i think WSI will much better to use
Amazing! Overviews
Thank you 👍
Nice one Colin !!
Thanks 👍
Great video and impressive progress being made on the project. Appreciate you updates and coverage of this construction. Will be interesting to see if the open the Elizabeth Dr to WSI section when the airport is handed over by mid year.
@Bantil562 thank you. Yes, you will be able to access the airport via Elizabeth Drive near badgerys Creek Road
just have to turn down the music whilst the voice over explanations are happening. otherwise great video explaining what's up with the M12. Just wondering if there will be non-M7/non-tolled entrances to the M12?
Yes Elizabeth drive from badgerys Creek road or the northern road and by look of it there seems to a entrance to m12 up near the m7 interchange off Elizabeth drive also
Is the road base concrete? It’s not the same colour as the asphalt roads surrounding and connecting to it.
Not entirely under concrete their would be crashed stone and
Aggregate Asphalt would be the final layer
How many tonnes of CO2 will have gone into the atmosphere from the construction of this road and the airport etc?
I don't know contact the construction company
A brand new M12 Motorway like this and such a narrow median island. Would only allow for 1 extra lane each way and a squeeze at that. The median Island should have been much wider to allow for more than just 1 extra lane each way. The M7 Median Island is wider than this. ABSOLUTELY NO FORSIGHT FOR THE FUTURE. 😡 Melbourne & Brisbane always make their median islands nice & wide, so should we.
They will widen it later at a cost equal to building the entire thing
We keep getting forced this aboriginal nonsense on every project that goes on today. No representation of the early Australian settlers of the area at all...
Yes, i agree. i would have put a statue of Captain Cook at the M12 airport interchange its virtue signalling at its worst, considering the amount of money spent on aboriginal people without any improvements in their communities. That's why a royal commission into these aboriginal organisations and we're the money has gone 🙄
I just called the WAAAAAHHHHHmbulance for you, hope you are OK.
@@PawesomeCatVideo Must be good Australia voted NO 😁
I will do whatever i can to avoid using this motorway and take the train.
I'll be using it whenever I catch a flight ✈️
@@colindobson4045 So forking over more money to transurban?
@kennylee8936 no you can access the airport via Elizabeth drive or M12 from the northern road side
@@colindobson4045 So wasting time on congested roads?
