It was terrible conditions when we filmed and didn’t show the main body of the reservoir to its full potential, which is normally fantastic as I think you may know. Yeah I love fishing at hury but it always seems to be windy 😂😂

Glad you enjoyed it amd really appreciate it 👍 It was really hard going and Hury is normally much better than this in the main reservoir but by the time we got out there it was baking and the wind was like a fan oven. Some of the spots we caught nothing in are normally nailed on along the North Shore as well. You know the story of my fly fishing down hear virtually none existence my last three outings I’ve blanked at a fishery called Maran lakes it’s over fished and chocked with weed very frustrating

Excellent video Stuart and great camera work by Chappie. What do you call the spools you put your indicator/ tippet set ups on and where do you buy them?
Thanks very much George. Glad you enjoyed it. The rig winders are by Tronixpro. 6.5cm diameter. You can get two thicknesses. The thicker one are less fiddly but the thinner ones take up less room. I probably prefer the thinner ones overall but both are great and come with stickers you can write rig details on. You will need a scalpel/razor blade to put little cuts into the foam to secure the last few inches of line into. But they save a load of hassle and can be set up at home to save time on the bank. Wouldn’t be without them. Cheers, Stu.

Great video, I really liked that multi fly rod holder tool, you were carrying with you. what a brilliant idea, looks like a great way to carry multiple pre-rigged setups with you, a real time saver enabling you to change flies, tactics, and setups quickly without the fuss. where did you get it? or did you make it?

Its certainly a good idea isn’t it? Not something I make but a friend does. By all means send a message through the Cadence Fly Fishing page and I’ll send his contact details privately.
The other bonus is they keep the rods elevated just above ground level so they don’t get stood on as easily when not in use.
Wouldn’t be without one to be honest.
You can get two, three or four rod versions.

I made one myself there so easy to make give it a go
Where you started near the water fall I fished just a bit further up a couple of weeks ago, I fished two wets and caught a 6lb rainbow and 2 5lb rainbows

@@StuI-kl5xt I had a pearly Zulu on the dropper and Kate mclaren on the point, the pearly Zulu took most of the fish. Either pulling or drifting them on the ripple.
Can’t neat a Katie Mac 👌 One of the best theres ever been? Pearly Zulu is one I’ve never tried though. That sounds pretty special. Pearl body, black hackle red tag am guessing?

Fished there in the past since the 70s . I am now banned for life by Don Coe fisheries manager and his staff after being caught on CCTV camera at Grassholme Disabled Toilets with my female friend while trying to use the toilet before a days fishing . Disgusted to be watched on CCTV camera,
CCTV cameras are something the users will never win with. Essential for security in modern society. Quite poor for privacy on the flip side. I’d rather stay out of discussing your ban other than to say all the staff, including Don, have been absolutely superb over the years in my experience. But I hope you get the situation sorted. Thanks for the reply Stuart lovely reservoir caught my first ever fish on the Fly at Hury . That fish got off but it taught me that we can catch fish on Fur and Feather .I have fished the river many times over the years and found either a weighted fly on the point on the floating line worked or i liked to use the Cortland Blue Intermediate line to get deeper in coloured water ,I use the Bibio on the top dropper with either a weighted Black and Red Wooly Bugger on the point or a gold bead red and black Wooly bugger worked . Mr Sage the Baliff was a good man and always gave me sound advice . Still got the River Wear and Swale to fish .
