    You're a good kid for helping them. I agree it's frustrating, the task at large and your parents not wanting to let go of items.

    I just recently found your channel and am binge watching this playlist. Just know that the reason your family members are moving things to the garage from the house is that they want to clear space in the house which means they are slowly changing their mindset. They’re realizing the benefits of a clear space and you are allowing them to do that inside their house. You’re doing a great job.

    Hey Mariela, I hope you're feeling better now - It is frustrating to see more clutter in the garage after all your hard work but decluttering the physical stuff is only part of the issue, like you say they're hoarders and so they would need a whole mindset change and want to do it for things to truly improve long term which isn't easy. You're doing a great job especially carrying on even though you weren't feeling your best, my mum was a hoarder and I understand how mentally, emotionally and physically exhausting the process is as all you want is to help them make their lives easier and better, if I lived near you I'd happily give you a hand as it's a lot of work especially doing it on your own. Hopefully as time goes on and they've lived with the improvements, they'll appreciate that less is more 🤗

    I truly believe that you are the only person who can do this job because your parents trust you and they would never hire someone because they would have to be more involved in the process. Don't be discouraged; I'm sure your mom was so relieved that she could make the inside of the home less cluttered for when company was coming over so she appreciates what you're doing. Great job consolidating all the Hallowe'en stuff in the tote... you made good progress!

    I understand your frustration! My mother was a hoarder and when she died there were new items that were destroyed because they were left in an area to collect dust and issues with an older house. I will say I have changed my mindset to just in case items...there is a good chance there will be a newer model and another great sale when I need it vs buying it now and having to take care of it now so it will be like new when I need it. Good luck in helping your parents.

    Your parents may be saving a few dollars by stocking up on small appliances when they're on sale, but I guarantee that the value of everything in that garage does not add up to the value of their least expensive vehicle, which they have forced out of the garage and into the elements where it is not protected. They are being penny wise and pound foolish. Garages are for storing vehicles.

    • @carrie3206
      @carrie3206 Рік тому +1

      Hmmm… this is an interesting take, because many people do not have a garage to store their vehicle; my self included. I live in the north with snow and cold and my car is no worse because of it.

    • @RadCenter
      @RadCenter Рік тому +4

      @@carrie3206 I don't have a garage either, but if I did you can be sure my car would be in it, and not a lot of random stuff. The amount of time I'd save on cleaning snow and ice off my car alone would be worth any storage space I'd lose. And exposure to the elements does take a toll on your vehicle. Just ask your mechanic.

I’m sure when you are feeling better, you will start filling them up and stacking them and that for sure will create more space. May I suggest that you label them as you go, to make your work easier in the long term? 😊

    Big hugs. It is progress that they are even letting you get things out of piles. If they can find the stuff they bought just in case there is at least more chance that when things wear out the will use the prestocked item instead of buying yet another one. I will suggest that labels or clear bins might be helpful. Even just a piece of printer paper taped on a bin can let you know what is in it without opening later.

My parents are the same. More recently I have seen it more with their home. Things upon things of hoarding and items that haven’t been used. A few tips: If you find a (free or inexpensive) shelf/bookcase that would be great storage for the water bottles! That way you can take them out of the plastic and put them on the shelf individually! It would make them more accessible and you won't end up having stacks high of plastic, just a simple way to keep them organized nicely! Also, maybe put some labels on your totes with paper and tape so they can be removable easily, and you can let your parents know what's inside each tote! Also for hat organization, I know there are some wall hanging hat racks, that would be great to get them off the floor and other things!

Watching so I can get the motivation and inspiration to tackle my own garage. It’s bothering me for months now.
