  • Most drummers always need to work on their left hand technique. I have used my own left hand technique that works very well for me. As you can see, my left arm, wrist, or fingers are not even moving, but you see and hear the stick is moving very fast. It`s my way of doing the finger control in the most easy way possible. I have my left hand using just the first two fingers to push down so slightly on the stick to get a rebound off the snare head. When the left stick comes up, I just push down again with my fingers to keep this going. As you can see I`m playing very relaxed and I have full control of what I playing at all times. I learned from great old school drummers like Buddy Rich, Joe Morello, Sonny Payne, Louie Bellson on how to do these type of open drum solo using new techniques that works best for me. When I play with my Ken Loomer Big Band, I want my drumming to be exciting and fresh and use the technique I have learned to make the music feel good. I use old school bass drum tuning with just a felt strip on the back and front head for that big open clear sound. I don`t like the dead thud sound of today`s bass drum. Thanks for your comment.

Ken, I'm not a drummer, but for decades I've watched many, many, drummers. Your work here is fascinating, as always! Many thanks.

I like to watch so many musicians who play other instruments. I learn from all of them and get inspired to improve my playing and how I can as a drummer support what they play with my drumming. Thanks for your comment.
