Grey had knee problems at Notre Dame, he missed most of his Senior year because of a knee injury. Unfortunately, the same thing has happened to Malcolm Mitchel last week. A persistent knee injury that gets him cut, and derails a promising career. But at least both men have a Super Bowl Ring to show, and Jonas holds the Team record for rushing and TDs by a back in a single game. Plus, Jonas shares the 2014 record for most TDs in a single game with Marshawn Lynch. If an injury is going to shorten your career, that's a pretty good boast of how good you were when healthy.

I've enjoyed rewatching this game. The Colts are soft. I don't know why or how an entire organization gets that way in this league, but they're soft, physically. It's become their MO. IMO, it started after 2003 when their ownership lobbied for (and got) rule changes to keep DB's from laying out receivers. The rise of the National Flag League probably starts right there. Even in 2018, you could just beat this team up and win. No doubt they've had tough players, and they've had their share of excellent skill. But at the end of the day, you don't have to match them skill-wise or scheme-wise if you're able to out-physical them...they'll fold. It starts at the top.
They were soft even in the Manning era. Seriously their defense stunk it up throughout that whole era and how many big games did they win even with Manning at the helm? Yes it's a team sport but really the Colts if anything were very overrated for years. Manning had enough offensive talent around him for years. They just never executed when it counted the most. Before Brady got Moss who was really considered hall of fame caliber who played receiver for the Pats? Branch? Givens? Patten? Andre Davis? Bethel Johnson? Troy Brown?Haha. You can say it's the Pats system like everybody likes to say but you need the right guys in a system to execute a game plan. Manning and any team he played with never really showed up for big games. People say the Colts should've had more championships with Manning. I completely disagree. They were lucky to win that 06 afc championship game by the Pats blowing a 21-3 lead and obviously anybody was gonna beat the Bears with Rex Grossman. They lucked out and won it all that year and the 2015 Broncos were definitely all about defense that year. Manning knew it was time to retire after his last super bowl victory.
The very next year after the changes, the Patriots destroyed the Colts in the playoffs even worse than the year before. This time Manning’s record-setting 49 TD pass season ended with a 0 TD performance that was a dropped Eugene Wilson pick away from being a shutout. And it wasn’t even really on Manning his guys were just soft as papier meche, Reggie, Marvin etc. the Pats were even missing both Ty Law and Richard Seymour and still held the Colts to 3 points. On the other side of the ball it looked just like this game, as the Pats rushed for over 200 yards and held the ball for 24 of 30 minutes in the second half.
I never really thought about it until mentioned here, but it does make some sense actually. Teams in the playoffs play harder and more aggressive. And of course they do, your season's life is on the line, and you'll do anything to win the game. Of course the teams will play harder. And if a team doesn't, they won't perform. The Colts during the Manning era may have been so successful in part because teams don't play as hard in the regular season. But come playoff time, even the weaker teams play harder than the Colts. Hence them losing multiple games in the playoffs they should've easily won on paper. The Colts may have had the better talent, but if the other team wants it more, and plays like they want it more, the better talent doesn't matter.
Colts were always soft until Chris Ballard started making changes. Colts always relied on elite QB play, neglected everything else. It’s too bad luck walked away just as the team got better. Gotta wonder what the team would do now with luck, Taylor, Nelson, Leonard etc
