Great video Lawrie. As a guy from Czechia I´m sad to see all of our engines that made an appearance in this video are not in working condition right now. The CSD 477.043 needs a new boiler. CSD 475.101 had an overhaul but didnt run since. CSD 534.0432 need a new boiler as well. CSD 464.008 is in a overhaul for 3 years now. CSD 498.104 is in Slovakia and it has a fault on the boiler. And last the CSD 475.179 need a new boiler after it cracking while running a charter train 2 years ago. CSD means Czechoslovak State Railways btw.
Love to see all these engines! Its kind of sad to think that those proud parades were some of the last times some of those engines were in steam. All the same, wonderful video, and wonderful engines!
Glad I fell upon your video. It reminded me of a trip I took from Canada in 1990 to visit my sister who was teaching in the mountains of southern Pɔland. Although most of mainline runs were electrified, I did witness steam running in smaller towns and on switching duties in Warsaw and Cracow. Thank you, I really enjoyed the memories.
@@lmm I’ve enjoyed all the videos you’ve shared, Lawrence!! Not only are you a brilliant videographer, you’re also very interesting and your subject is of great interest to me!!
0:00 I had my suit measurements taken by a lass I though was Polish, and out of an intention to be polite thanked her by saying "Dziękuję", she glared at me and proclaimed "I am Czech". I was quite pleased as it shown my pronunciation was considered Polish.
And what’s worse is how discordant they sound. Those shrill single chime whistles just sound horrible. I don’t see why European railways never adopted chime whistles like the ones in the United States and many countries in the Pacific. They sound way more musical and are way easier on the ears than the hideous-sounding single chimes in this video.
You know those videos with the rubber toy chickens that reeeeeeeee en masse when they inflate? This appears to be the steam equivalent. My poor ears! still kinda cool though! and that Ol12-7 is such an interesting looking engine.
My god those whistles sound terrible. I mean no disrespect to the people who own those locomotives, but they sound horrible with those single-chime whistles. If you ask me, I personally think that every locomotive in this video deserves either a deep-toned hooter or a nice, good sounding chime whistle.

Atleast they are saved from the scrappers torch
czechoslovakia home of the boiler problem

I love tank engines. That blue Czech 4-8-4T (or 2-D-2T) is lovely and most impressive. Must be one of the largest around...
It's an incredible locomotive. I think it had a bunk in it too
I had a chance to see it when it visited Austria years ago.
R.I.P Headphone user's
*watches with headphones*. I will never recover from this audio
I've listened to it alot more with headphones
@@lmm we will be deaf together. But then, I don’t spend so much time on footplates
Finally it’s nice to put the clips in your Chasing dinosaurs intro of this to a video🎉
It's only taken 13 years!
Nice one Lawrie , Good to see a load of engines and people having a day's FUN , Cheers
Was a good event

You're most welcome!
Wonderful sight!! I could watch and listen to this all night!!
Excellent! Glad you enjoyed it

😂 😂 😂
Thats the steam event I ever missed. Because nobody wanted to go there with me and I did not want to go alone.
It's been an amazing experience
Fun fact: the gigantic blue tank engine 477 is nicknamed "Papoušek", Czech for "Parrot". Got to see her in 2014 when she visited Austria!
7:22 MY ENGINE albatros, She still is workin
Pleased to hear that - it's an amazing thing
A friend of mine at my local model railway club has actually driven one of these monsters!! They’re great, aren’t they?!!
Amazing machines
Mike goes over annually for this very event!! He’s still healthy enough to drive trains over there!!
Not anymore I guess
Not for a year or so. Poor Mike is now diagnosed with diabetes!! No railway with any sense would take him to the footplate!!
It's so beautiful
It is!
Cool video and yes and Wolsztyn line is very unique :D!
Great movie!
Thanks!
Fantastic!
Thanks!
*Great video!*
A GWR small prairie went to that event in 2008 and 9
I made it halfway thru. All the whistling did my head in.
It is excessive

Great footage but it should come with a whistle warning, I had to remove my headphones asap it nearly blew my mind 😂, they sure love their whistles
They really do
That blue engine almost looks like Thomas
It's quite a different beastie
Steam locomotive lover's delight!
I’ve seen videos of a GWR large prairie tank at an event like this in Poland
Yes, it was out before I visited
They seem to like their whistles. Its sad to know some of these locomotives are currently in disrepair or on the verge of being scrapped.
It's very sad, only one of the 5 engines that were based in Wolsztyn over that period is still working
@@lmmlike PT47-65
nice video
Thank you
How can a loco go that bad in a matter of years (number 7)
It's a over a Decade worth of decay
@@lmm wow and the fact it hasn’t been turned into scrap
WOW! just WOW ! 🥰🥰🥰
Amazing isn't it
I recall there was a time where a British tank engine visited Wolsztyn
Yes, there was a GWR prairie there for a while
Soo much whistles, it hurts.
It did at the time
Didn’t a GWR prairie attend once?
It did indeed

Yeah, shows the development to the Ol49!
Wooooooooooo!!!!!
And they say you can't smell a picture, well I disagree 😊
😂 😂
As much as I love steam, too much whistling is just ruining it. I wanna hear those engines work not just blow a whistle.
I am jalous❤
It was pretty special
