sofie is 1 van de beste zangeressen van belgie...ze had met drop drop drop van trinity naar het songfestival moeten gaan.....grote kans om te winnen.......dit lied ' nummer 1' was te zwak voor een songfestival....maar top zangeres

This sounds like "Bra vibrationer", the song that represented Sweden in 1985 haha

Kudos to the jury. The other "favorites" like this, Bart Kaell and Wim de Craene all sounded very old-school and dated by 1983. The Eurovision and its "schlager" sound was seen as passé by young people in the late 70's never mind the 80's.
Hate to be so frank but none of the Sofie, Bart Kaell and Wim de Craene songs would have had any chance against the top 3 songs of the ESC. Neither did Pas De Deux *but they made a statement with their music* and in hindsight they turned out to be ahead of their time. As such they broke the ground and henceforth Belgium dared sending more "youth oriented" music and artists. It won them the ESC in 1986 with Sandra Kim.
All my respect to the Belgian jury for daring to be different, breaking new ground and sticking it to the very conservative Eurovision (which seemed forever stuck in the 60's).
And from what I've read Rendezvous has cult status today. This song here as nice and lovely as it is too bland to stick out and paled next to "Si la vie est cadeau" , "Chai" (by the lovely Ofra Haza) and Främling by Carola.

I think sometimes people give their opinion even they dont know anything about music or Eurovision. This song was so much better and sung better then Pas de deux. Ok they sounded fresh but not really Eurovision 80-style. Nummer 1 had a good swing, very easy to sing it in English and to say it was bland, well this shows you dont know anything about Eurovision music. Two years earlier, Buck Fuzz won with "Making up your mind", 2 years later in 1985 won The Bobbysocks with La da Swinge, all the same kind of music and Sofie is a powerhouse with a great voice and the song was commercial. But like always they never liked Sofie, even when she was with Trinity, because they made once a song to support the free radios and as public broadcaster they couldnt accept that.
