The issue with Mexico is not merely the Coach or players. The rot runs deeper than that. The federation needs a compete overhaul; it needs to stop treating the team as a money generating enterprise, instead treat it like a sport institution. Invest and overhaul nutrition, youth, education, coaching, set up programs to get players into Europe. But they won't and Mexico will regress until their pocketbook is affected.

It’s a new and popular saying amongst the fan base and talking heads to say “how much of that roster just paid their way on to the national team?” Countries like Argentina, Brazil and the US make it possible and invest in their talent no matter the tax bracket in order to create a competitive advantage and as a result they’re all lapping Mexico.
