My wife and I will be taking our dream vacation to Paris early next year. I have watched many of your videos as well as those of other UA-cam creators, simply because we want every piece of information at our fingertips to have the vacation my deserves. These videos do not disappoint. Informative, clear, easy to understand, and, in my opinion, an invaluable resource. Thank you for these videos…oh, sorry. Merci.
Attention travellers, watch this video! This series offers the most informative, most concise and personable resource for all things Paris. I just got back from visiting Paris & know 90%+ of this info, but still thoroughly enjoyed it. Merci!
Thank you for tirelessly making your videos in English ! Much appreciated. Subscribed and watching each and every one of them :) I started learning french. Difficult, but i am not giving up !
MERCI! So much valuable information! I have to watch this again and take notes lol. I plan to use the Metro more this trip. Truly appreciate this clip.
My Wife and I will be in Paris(from South Africa🇿🇦) from 24 - 28 June. I think that the Navigo Decouverte will be perfect for us... Thanks for such an informative video. It helped me make the correct decision...
Another thing to know about buying tickets for the Metro is that if you are using a credit card, you need to know the PIN for that card. I failed to bring the PIN last trip and was not carrying my debit card all the time, having been pickpocketed in the past (that time, I kept the cards together, and lost everything except for the one back-up card I had back at the apartment). Merci for this very useful information. Your work is appreciated.
@@alankolling5760 I'm assuming that you bought the Navigo card at the window from a human. When I went to a machine, it asked for a PIN. Let me know if I don't have it right. At any rate, I will make sure to have my PIN with me next trip. Thanks!
@@marizinhalinda100 I also live in the US. You need to contact the bank, and they will send you a PIN by mail. To clarify, I meant you need a PIN when purchasing tickets/reloading a Navigo Easy card when buying from a machine. If you don't have a PIN for your credit card or debit card on hand, you can buy tickets/reload a Navigo Easy card at a window, but not all stations have windows. Hope that this helps.
It was clear that everything would be more expensive during the Olympics, but that could be done with the tourists. Thanks for the video, it was interesting
Once you get a Navigo card and learn how to load tickets onto it (at a kiosk or with your phone) it is all easy. The only detail I might bring up that isn't mentioned here is that at some times of the day the RER frequency is can be less than with the metro so even if the RER might be faster to get to your destination you might find the metro the better option.
After a lot of research, we purchased the Decouverte card two years ago. We went to Disneyland, train from CDG, caught metros, trams, buses and the furnicular. We well and truly got our money’s worth, we are taking the card with us to Paris next month
One thing to notice is that kids from 4 to 10 would now have to pay full price if they use a cardboard ticket, but they would pay half price with a Navigo Easy card, if purchased by batch of 10 tickets.
The first few times I was in Paris, a single ticket only costed 1 euro. Can't remember the price in Franc before the introduction of Euro. But it was very reasonable then, now it's highway robbery. The weekly or monthly pass was Carte' Orange.
A highway robbery ? Do you know that you pay only a third of what it costs ? Do you know that it is less expansive than in NY ? Do you know that you can go everywhere in the Paris region with the same monthly pass ? It was not the case before. It is more expansive but we need to find money to refurbish the metro.
Easiest metro to use and the hardest to figure out the pricing... Alain, FYI have noticed a few hotel prices coming down for this summer. Some 5 star hotels such as L' Hotel in the heart of Saint Germain having a 10% off for members... and yes I just booked a week there in June. 😉
I think that the closer we get to the date of the Olympic Games, the more we will realize the unpreparedness of the city of Paris, and the more reluctant tourists will be to come!
Thank you for sharing!! Book of 10 tickets for paris region Versailles still available for purchase? 10 paper tickets or only available for loading on Navigo card? Family of 4 adults and 2 kids planning visit Versailes in early June.
You mentioned "regional trains" included in some ticketing schemes. Are those _Trasilien_ lines (or are they called different now - I last used them almost 20 years ago) ? I _love_ your city and i am a public transport nerd. Apart from museums (I _especially_ like _Musée d'Orsay,_ Egypt and Mesopotamia collections in _Louvre,_ _Musée Marmottan Monet_ and _Musée de l'Orangerie,_ whatever is currently in the _Institut du Monde Arabe_ and _Centre Pompidou_ etc etc; I also visit incredibly impressive _Mémorial des Martyrs de la Déportation_ whenever in Paris) and, obviously, bistros and cafés, exploring public transportation of Paris is my favourite activity there. I was once lucky enough to be there when, for one day, historical metro trains and buses made their rounds - that was spectacular. (Yes, and exploring the canal network - another fascinating segment of transportation in Paris.) I plan to visit in the spring of '25, well after the Games, with the explicit goal of exploring the complete tram network and new lines of _Grand Paris Express._
@@Desi365 The difference is that Transilien lines do not travel underground in Paris. Also, part of them is managed by RATP (metros in Paris) and part of them by SNCF (railroad)
Glad it was helpful! The very good thing about Orly is that, from June this year, line 14 of the metro will end at Orly. Super practical as in Paris, line 14 stops at a lot of major hubs, like Les Halles, Saint-Lazare...
Thank you very much, the video is very helpful! But I'm still a little confused and hope you respond. My family (me, my wife and 3 year old girl) are going on a short trip to Paris in October. I will arrive at CDG airport in the morning and travel to the city center by RER. After that we only traveled by Metro or bus around the city center and planned to go to Montmartre. The next morning we needed to return to CDG airport. I don't know what type of ticket we need to buy to optimize costs. I also didn't see anyone mention tickets for 3-year-old children. Looking forward to receiving your feedback
First, kids under 4 don't need a ticket. You should take your daughter in your arms to pass the turnstile. If she looks older than 4, be sure to have her id to present if needed. Then, for you, the best solution is to purchase a return ticket to Paris from CDG at 11,80 euro per leg, and then purchase as many cardboard t+ tickets as you'd need on your first day, knowing that your airport ticket already includes a ticket in the metro to reach the RER.
Hello, you do a great job in your videos - the best on UA-cam! 2 questions - how to attach foto to the card(do I need to take some glue with me)? And is it possible to buy it in Saturday after18:00 on Porte Maillot?
Yes, the card comes in two separate sleeves, and you'll insert the photo between them, so no need for glue. Yes, I think you will be able to purchase it on a Saturday after 18, but I don't know at what time this specific sales booth will close.
We are looking at coming in May. Spending five days in Paris. Unfortunately our days are split over the weekend so the Decouvert pass doesn’t work well for us. Looking at maybe doing the Paris Visite pass. Was hoping that you might discuss this option too
I plan to buy a Decouverte ticket. Should I bring a paper photograph of myself from home? Or do I upload a photo from my phone? Or do the ticket machines have a camera? Merci. Enjoy your videos very much.
In most places where you can buy a Navigo Découverte card, you'll find an automatic photo machine called Photomaton. You can't upload it from your phone.
Yes you can, but only if you want to use your phone (ans it does not work on iphones) as the holder of the weekly pass. More info there: ua-cam.com/video/84wT_0TtpcI/v-deo.html
Very informative video. Thank you. Our family of 4 will be in Paris for the Olympics from Aug 5 - 11. I was planning to buy the Navigo Découverte weekly pass. But you mentioned in your video that it will not be sold during the Olympics. Which transportation card should I buy? Thanks
Thanks. First, the t+ tickets will only go away during the Olympics and paralympics, replaced by the same tickets but with a price of 4€. For Versailles from your hotel, it's very easy: just walk towards the Seine, and you will find RER C Champ de Mars Tour Eiffel station. There you take this RER to Versailles Château Rive Gauche. There is a train every 15 minutes.
Hello, thank you for your great video. regarding the photo for the card. I guess its possible to get a photo at the station? or some stations.. how about the airport station? what is the cost for a photo at one of those station booths? 5 euro for the card, plus the photo price...
Very good update. The weekly orange card purchased for regions (different prices) - that was eased out when? Can you get the navigo at CDG? Is the RER from CDG to ORY worth the trouble? Traffic is so awful into Paris that I want my family to pick me up at Orly but I have to fly into CDG on AF. Any easy way to go to Orly from CDG without spending a hundred euros for a taxi or a shuttle? Thanks for the good information and the quality editing. PS Is the Batobus still operating?
Many questions 😁 The Orange card has been renamed Navigo in 2010. You can get a Navigo card both at Orly and CDG. And yes, RER from CDG to Antony, and then Orlyval to Orly (not included on Navigo), is often the fastest solution between the two airports. Or, RER to Denfert Rochereau, and then Orlybus (included in Navigo) to Orly. Yes, the Batobus still operates.
THank you! I was prevented from coming to la Belle France owing to the nonsense around dampendics. Things have changed, yet still the same. I am very familiar with the Met in the city. My favorite metro story recalls my first visit to Paris and getting lost at Les Halles waling at least 10000 miles up and down stairs to find the correct correspondance from the 1 line to whatever. My thighs looked like I was from the Tour de France! Thanks you. That was a very helpful answer.
If my hotel is Campanile Le Blanc Mesnil (zone 4) and I arrive in Paris on Friday. Is it best to buy a Navigo decouverte card? And can I buy it on Friday?
Yes, a Navigo weekly pass, on a Navigo Découverte card or on your phone would be the best solution. But on the Navigo Découverte card, the one you could buy on a Friday would not be usable before the next Monday. My advice, use the phone app and purchase the pass before coming.
Merci You have wonderful video, appreciated We will be in Paris in May 2024 Planing a trip from Pullman Paris Hotel to chateau Versailles by RER C Navigo Easy is a good choice ?and how many euro I have to place for round trip ? Do you know if Mugging happens in Paris Metro ? Thank you
Thanks! No, Navigo Easy will not help you for Versailles. When you are at the RER station (Champ de Mars Tour Eiffel, just near your hotel), you have to purchase a"Ticket to Paris Region", then select Versailles Château Rive Gauche and buy two tickets. The cost will be 8,30€. There is not much risks of mugging in the Paris Metro, but a higher risk of pickpocketing.
Thanks for the great videos. We will be staying close to the Croix de berny station. A total of 5 of us (including an 8-year-old child) will stay in Paris for 2 days. Are 10-ride passes valid only in Zone 1? I think the St. Croix de berny station is in Zone 3, right? What would be your recommendations for the most suitable daily ticket to reach the iconic places of Paris from this station? Also, I am very curious about your recommendations for going from Orly airport to this station. Thanks a lot.
Yes, La Croix de Berny is a RER B station in zone 3.And the 10-ride passes will not work there as they are only for zones 1 & 2 on RER and metros. So you can either purchase an individual mobilis ticket zones 1-3 at 11,60€ per day or purchase a Paris Visite zones 1 to 3 at 22,65€ for two days. From Orly, the ideal choice would be to take the Orlyval, and then RER b for 1 station, but it would cost the crazy price of 13€50 one way, per person. I would recommend you to take a taxi, as in fact, Croix de Berny is really close to Orly.
@@paristoptips Thank you very much for your answer. Which Uber app is ideal for Paris? Will a regular taxi cause any problems for 4 people and an 8-year-old child? It will be our first experience in Paris and thank you very much for your help.
Uber is the best in Paris. A taxi will not have more than 3 passengers, except if it's a van. As soon as you land in Orly you should inquire for a Uber van. They would normally get you on board at the beginning of Terminal 1.
There's not a vlogger, including this vlogger, who answers the one question everyone wants to know. If I buy a Navigo Easy Pass, and only use it a few times, when I return to Paris a year later, will the card and the money still on it be good to use? I know with the Decouverte pass, all money you put on it disappears every Sunday evening.
Yes, the Navigo Easy pass being valid 10 years, the t+ tickets remaining on it are valid until the end of the card. Of course, if you purchase a time-stamped ticket on it like a day pass, it will be void after that day...
If I'm going to Paris for 5 days, and going to both Disneyland and Versalles (different days) but also visiting some places in the city, what would you recommend? Note that I go on a friday. I was thinking to buy the pack of 10 ticket t+ but thanks to your explanation I know they won't be available
It depends on when you go to Disneyland and Versailles. Going there with single return tickets would cost around 19 €. If you go on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, then having a Navigo Découverte could be an option, but it depends on the number of trips inside Paris you would make on the week starting Monday.
if you are going from porte de clignancourt to versailles and need to do metro to RER transfer what should I do? Do I buy the metro ticket to go to the connecting station and then there buy a more expensive RER ticket? Or can I buy the more expensive station and then ride the metro line to the connecting station and trasfer to RER with the same one?
The second answer is right: you purchase at porte de Clignancourt metro station a ticket to Versailles Château, you ride line 4 to Saint-Michel and there, you connect with the same ticket to Versailles Château on RER C.
from 20/7 to 8/9 no weekly navigo pass availabl?! If I get a Navigo Decouverte can't I load it with a weekly unlimitid pass during this periud? what's the alternative?
I have a Navigo Decouverte pass from several years ago. It is two cards - one with chip that says Navigo Decouverte and the second card has my picture and says carte nominative transport. Is there anyway to find out if it still valid? I plan on going to Paris in March. The video was very helpful! Thanks.
Hello Alain, Thanks for your informative video! I''ll be arriving in Paris thru CDG Airport, and my hotel is close to Gare Montparnasse, where I will take tha train on the next morning to the south of France. On the day of my arrival, I intend to take the RER to Denfert Rochereau and just walk to the hotel, and I'll have the whole day to visit some Paris attractions. Since I have to use the RER from zone 5 to 1, do you believe that the best option would be getting a Navigo Easy card and and charge it with a one day transit pass? I believe that It would cover the transportation from the airport and unlimited trips within Paris metro. Please let me know if you believe that there are any better alternative. Merci!
"I believe that It would cover the transportation from the airport and unlimited trips within Paris metro.": it would definitely. This said the navigo easy card costs 2€ and the day pass 1 to 5 costs 20,60€, so 22,60€ in total. The RER B from CDG to Denfert-Rochereau costs 11,80€. So, in your first day in Paris, will you be using more than 10,80€ (22,60-11,80) worth of tickets, so, more than 5 t+ tickets?
You can still buy a monthly pass for August/September at the normal prices as opposed to a higher Olympic price. Monthly passes prices will not increase in cost during the Olympic Games
Thank you for the information! Can you purchase the Navigo Decouverte Card at CDG airport? Are there specific requirements for the photo we have to attach? Coming to Paris in 3 days!
And there are photo booths at CDG. Choose the non-official photo option and it will print the size you need. There are metro employees near the photo booths and they will cut the picture out for you. The card has a sticky tab and you place your photo on it. Takes a few minutes after you land and totally worth it!
@@paristoptipsis this area going to have a lot of pickpockets? Is it better to purchase a one-way ticket into the city and then buy a Navigo at a less crowded station
First of all thank you for this very informative video. Could you help me choose on which card to go for as I am confused. We (me, wife and 8 year old son) will arrive at a Saturday morning and leave at a Tuesday evening in and out from Orly airport. Will be staying at a hotel in Vaugirard with a metro station nearby. This will be our first time in Paris and we are Not planning to visit Disneyland. We would like to visit the landmarks, Montmartre etc. in these circumstances which card option would you recommend us to go for.
First of all, will you come this year or next year? Because there will be a revolution in the pricing scheme on January 1st 2025. If it's this year, I think the best solution would be to have 2 tickets from Orly to Paris and Paris to Orly on metro line 14. One way: 10,30€ for you and 9,40€ for your son. For inside Paris journeys, you'll have the choice between purchasing cardboard tickets at 2,15€each or purchase a Navigo Easy card for 2 € and get on them 10 tickets at reduced price of 17,35€ for you and 8,65€ for your son. If you purchase a Navigo Easy card, you can also load the Orly tickets on it.
i was in Paris over the weekend and I found it confusing because there’s no tap out scanner when exiting. My problem was the next time I try to tap in the card wouldn’t work. I’d have to go to the ticket counter, my card would be scanned by the attendant and was told to use the bypass gate or given a single use ticket.
@@paristoptips I finally realized that after a couple of trips and watching passengers push the gate open. I still don’t know my Navigo card wouldn’t work again until rescanned by an attendant, Still puzzles me but I’m in Paris anymore, lLessons learned. Cheers
I'm going to stay in Paris in 4 nights for the Olympics. I'm taking the RER from the Charles de Gaulle airport, stop at Luxembourg station and take the 82 bus to the hotel in zone 1 near the eiffel tower. Which kind of ticket or card do you recommend and does it include free transfer from RER to bus? What is total estimate cost for this one way ride? And if I decide to go by Paris Metro Train frequently for 4 days, which ticket or card do you prefer to save money?
Your RER ticket will not continue to work on the bus. You will have to use a t+ ticket, same as in the metro. Price of the RER ticket during the Olymics will be 16€. Price of a t+ ticket will be 4€. If you only stay in Paris, just purchase many t+ tickets...
I apologize if this has already been answered somewhere but, is it possible for a tourist to buy a smartphone Navigo pass and load up tickets at pre-Olympic 2 euro prices and use those in late August and early September? I know specific summer Olympic passes will be sold at higher prices, but wondering if Navigo smartphone passes would work if purchased ahead of time.
Hello thank you for this video very informative, i have a question so i am due to be in Paris on Tuesday from Charles de Gaulle, can i buy a Navigo weekly card there and i assume at the station from a ticket office?
Absolutely useful. I have never been to Paris before so this is great to know. Thank you 👍 just 1 question, one t+ pass is only valid for one journey right? Or it can be used in different journeys within a time frame?
As long as you don't get out of the metro system, you can switch from one metro to another or even a RER inside Paris, for two hours. But you can't get out of the metro network and try to get in again, or board a bus.
Thank you for such an informative video. I am planning a trip to Paris in May/June and I was wondering if you could clarify on thing for me. For the Navigo Weekly Pass, how can I get a photo of me for the pass? Can a ticket counter do it? I'd rather not try to remember to bring a photo of myself on the trip! Thanks in advance.
One question From:val de europa To: Trocadéro Which option i need to use on terminal and how much it would cost. I am confused which ticket i need to buy. Tomorrow i have to travel. You quick response will be highly appreciated
Great video! I have a question. I heard that Navigo Easy cards are now available for purchase from the vending machines. Which means, there is no need to go to the sale counters. Is it true?? Thank you!
Not that I know of, inside Paris. Some automatic vending machines by transilien (the national railway Paris suburb system) do seel cards such as Navigo Easy, but these machines are not to be found inside Paris. There might be some at CDG, but I'm not sure about that. I'll check...
On the video you showed going through the turnstile by using your phone rather than ticket or Navigo card. How did you do that? I haven't read anywhere else where you can just swipe your iphone?
I've made a specific video about that: ua-cam.com/video/84wT_0TtpcI/v-deo.html But for the moment, it only works with android phones. Iphones should be concerned in may or June this year, and I'll make an update when this is live. Stay tuned!
But when I arrive on Saturday 11PM, cant buy Navigo Decouverte. So on Sunday, have to buy Easy Pass and Dacouverte from Monday but for 3 days, not sure if its worth it. But wanna travel from 1-5 zones
Don't purchase an Easy pass for just one day, you will never use the 10 tickets. Just purchase cardboard t+ tickets for this day, and then a Navigo découverte for the remaining 3 days, if you need to go on zone 5 at least twice. If not, then a Navogo Easy card for the 4 days in Paris, and specific ticket for where you want to go in zone 5 should be OK.
Тhanks, great video! If I buy Navigo Découverte, do I have to pay only with a credit card (which is more expensive to use abroad) or can I pay in cash?
Unfortunately, no. Chantilly Gouvieux train station, even if it is on the RER D line, is outside the Ile de France region, so you have to purchase a specific ticket.
Thanks for sharing this informative video. I am reaching on Wednesday and will be leaving next Wednesday during Olympics. If I buy Olympics Metro Pass will my card get discounted on Sunday or it will valid for the entire week? Thanks again Sir
There will be a "Paris 2024 pass" with unlimited travel in the Paris region, including the airports, for 1 day at 16€ and 7 days at 70€. But I don't know yet if it will be a rolling days pass or not.
I downloaded the app Ile de France app for buying digital ticket. However, the app did not allow registration. It seems IP from the US is blocked. Is there any way to solve this? Thanks!
Bonjour, Alain! With the Navigo Découverte Card, it requires a picture. How is that done? Do we upload a picture to the Navigo system or actually TAKE a picture right there at the Ticket Machine? Merci bien!
We bought 3 tickets at the bus, 2.50 each. Driver told us 'can use at metro'. At metro we heard 'cannot use at metro, need special ticket'. There we bought 3 tickets again, 4.00 each, to go to Paris centre (15min, 3 stops). One use only, so going back we need to buy again. But we hear the t-ticket can be used on all transport. Can be used for metro and then bus as well? Or do we need a new ticket when switching the type of transport?
The t+ ticket only allows you to ride the metro, buses, and RER but only inside Paris. You had to pay 4 € because you were outside of Paris, I guess. And yes, if you've bought tickets on a bus, you can't use them in the RER outside of Paris.
I wish I would have read this sooner. Cause I bought the t-ticket to go back thinking it was the right ticket. Waited at a counter 15min but no one there so had to buy myself at a machine. On arrival i got stopped and had to pay 2 times €35 fine cause we had the wrong ticket. Apparently we can use the wrong ticket to get to la'defense or somewhere.. (In other countries a wrong ticket just won't let you get in). The guards kept saying we aren't in Paris (at arrival) but to me, a foreigner for the first time in Paris, I'm still in Paris at arrival. I have no idea where 'Paris' stops. It's Disneyland 'Paris' and people there also say 'here in Paris'. So if Paris can be that far away, I would never have thought we would be outside Paris. The guards were absolutely without any compassion nor understanding for us tourists. We've spent hours and hours trying to figure it out and finally we thought we knew the way. Every time we ask somewhere people say different things which is extremely confusing.
Hey. I downloaded the sncf connect app. And it allows me to buy the navigo weekly pass for 30,75 Euro just via phone. I needed to create an account with my photo. So i wanted to ask, if it will work, because i read somewhere, that the online version is only for French people. But it allows me to buy it. I am from Czechia and planning to go to Paris in April. Thanks
Once validated, the T+ ticket allows you to make as many connections as you wish for 1h30 on the bus and tram network. Each time you change buses or trams, you must validate your T+ ticket in the machine again.
can someone plz help what to get for myself for 72 hours stay in Paris ? I will be travelling from Orly airport to Notre dam, 2nd day to Disney land, 3rd day to Eiffel Tower and back to airport
I guess the best would be a Navigo Weekly pass on a Navigo Découverte card, taking the Orlybus from and to Orly. Be careful, the Orlyval rail solution is not included on Navigo Weekly.
@@paristoptips There is no information anywhere about the procedure to have the 2024 navigo pass card for the 2024 Olympics. True! They had promissed transport would be free when they won the Games... This said, the 1 day unlimited pass will be 16€, which is cheaper than the current 20,60€ price.
I guess the metro police who check people’s tickets need to fine people to cover their salaries. LOL I THINK the Paris system is old fashioned and overly complicated. It’s a tourist trap. Tourist unfriendly. I live in Tokyo that is bigger than the one in Paris. And it’s waaaay easier to use.
Because this video i know that there is other navigo pass card other then navigo easy pass. I think the other pass (idk how to write it, haha) is also great souvenir because there is photo of you. Btw should i bring my own photo or the employee at ticket couter take a photo of me and attach it in the pass?
Hey.. thank you so much for all the information 😊 please advise if we have a Navigo Easy card with 10loaded trips, will it cover the entire train journey from CDG to 8th arrondissement via RER and Metro? Thank you
No, it will not. On the Navigo Easy, you can't load an outside of Paris RER ticket. So you would have to purchase a CDG-Paris ticket in the airport train station. Or you could load on your Navigo Easy a Roissybus virtual ticket.

The only detail I might bring up that isn't mentioned here is that at some times of the day the RER frequency is can be less than with the metro so even if the RER might be faster to get to your destination you might find the metro the better option.
Hope the video can make u brave😘 and try the discount on railcard so you can save a lot🤣
After a lot of research, we purchased the Decouverte card two years ago. We went to Disneyland, train from CDG, caught metros, trams, buses and the furnicular. We well and truly got our money’s worth, we are taking the card with us to Paris next month
Thanks for these valuable information 🙏
Oh really! Thanks for information😊 Can I use railcard in Paris?

Welcome!
Thank you! We're bringing our five kids to Paris next month. Sounds like single T+ tickets are our best option as not all of them have phones.
One thing to notice is that kids from 4 to 10 would now have to pay full price if they use a cardboard ticket, but they would pay half price with a Navigo Easy card, if purchased by batch of 10 tickets.
@@paristoptips good tip. I wish they hadn't gotten rid of the paper ticket books. 😔
The first few times I was in Paris, a single ticket only costed 1 euro.
Can't remember the price in Franc before the introduction of Euro.
But it was very reasonable then, now it's highway robbery.
The weekly or monthly pass was Carte' Orange.
It reached 1€ in August 2003.
A highway robbery ? Do you know that you pay only a third of what it costs ? Do you know that it is less expansive than in NY ? Do you know that you can go everywhere in the Paris region with the same monthly pass ? It was not the case before. It is more expansive but we need to find money to refurbish the metro.
It's considered the best value transport system in the world. Very well run with very high class trains.
As long as I have to buy stupid paper tickets it sucks
@@lars7935 Just buy a Navigo card for €2 and load it with a carnet of 10 tickets and you are all set plus buying that way is a lot cheaper.
That was great!

Thank you for sharing!!
Book of 10 tickets for paris region Versailles still available for purchase? 10 paper tickets or only available for loading on Navigo card? Family of 4 adults and 2 kids planning visit Versailes in early June.
Yes, you can purchase 10 tickets to Versailles at the same time.

@@paristoptipsif I purchase one booklet of tickets for my family, can we share? We are a family of four. Or do they all need their own booklet?
(Yes, and exploring the canal network - another fascinating segment of transportation in Paris.)
I plan to visit in the spring of '25, well after the Games, with the explicit goal of exploring the complete tram network and new lines of _Grand Paris Express._
Yes, those regional trains are the transilien lines, named with a letter.
It would make things more simple if RER lines and Transilien lines had the same denomination. They're very much alike anyways.
@@Desi365 The difference is that Transilien lines do not travel underground in Paris. Also, part of them is managed by RATP (metros in Paris) and part of them by SNCF (railroad)
Very nice and helpful video, merci!!
I would like information for transportation to Orly airport as well.
Glad it was helpful!
The very good thing about Orly is that, from June this year, line 14 of the metro will end at Orly. Super practical as in Paris, line 14 stops at a lot of major hubs, like Les Halles, Saint-Lazare...
@@paristoptips merci beaucoup, great news we are planning a visit on September!!

I attached mine with clear tape.
We are looking at coming in May. Spending five days in Paris. Unfortunately our days are split over the weekend so the Decouvert pass doesn’t work well for us. Looking at maybe doing the Paris Visite pass. Was hoping that you might discuss this option too
I never thought it was a good option as it is pricey, but I might do a short video about it soon.

This is very helpful.

Thx for the info, great service. Can I purchase a week ticket online without having the physical card? Because I will not arrive until Friday…
Thanks
There will be a special "Paris 2024" Pass, at 16€ per day and 70€ for the week.
Thank you
I would like to ask whether navigo weekly pass includes tickets for taking the roissy bus from CDG to OPERA?
Yes, it does.
Informative video. Merci. What's the best way to get to Versailles from my Pulman Paris hotel? Heard the T+ tickets are going away.
Yes there are "photomatons" or automatic photo machines in a lot of metro stations, including at the airports. I think it costs 3 to 5 €.
Many questions 😁
The Orange card has been renamed Navigo in 2010.
My pleasure!🙏
If my hotel is Campanile Le Blanc Mesnil (zone 4) and I arrive in Paris on Friday. Is it best to buy a Navigo decouverte card? And can I buy it on Friday?
Yes, a Navigo weekly pass, on a Navigo Découverte card or on your phone would be the best solution. But on the Navigo Découverte card, the one you could buy on a Friday would not be usable before the next Monday.
My advice, use the phone app and purchase the pass before coming.

Planing a trip from Pullman Paris Hotel to chateau Versailles by RER C
Navigo Easy is a good choice ?and how many euro I have to place for round trip ?

Hey can you tell me if it's possible to get a "Paris Visite" pass at CDG airport? And if it's valid for airport train rides to/from the city? Thanks

@@paristoptips yes Im going to Disney on Monday and Versalles on Tuesday. The weekend I will stay in the city (zone 1-3)
if you are going from porte de clignancourt to versailles and need to do metro to RER transfer what should I do? Do I buy the metro ticket to go to the connecting station and then there buy a more expensive RER ticket? Or can I buy the more expensive station and then ride the metro line to the connecting station and trasfer to RER with the same one?
The second answer is right: you purchase at porte de Clignancourt metro station a ticket to Versailles Château, you ride line 4 to Saint-Michel and there, you connect with the same ticket to Versailles Château on RER C.

Hello Alain,
Thanks for your informative video!
Do we need to validat ticket again when we transfer to another vehicle? For example first we go to RER train B and then change to metro?
Whenever you exit the RER, you need yo validate again.
Thanks
There is no reason for it to be only for French people, as it is designed for anyone.
Can you buy a Navigo easy on a Friday? I’m going to Paris from Friday to Monday. Is the €17 euro pass is only for a day?
You can purchase a Navigo Easy card any day.
And I don't know which 17€ pass you are talking about.
Kindly i asking you about my kid 6years old should I buy to him navigo card or he is free
With respect
@@ihabfahad4842 Kids are free only until 4 years old. From 4 to 10, they pay half price
What happens if I have to take a subway, then a bus to get to my destination. Will I have to buy 2 tickets or are transfers available?
Unfortunately that's 2 tickets. Transfers only from metro to metro or RER inside Paris, and for bus/tramway to bus/tramway.
@@paristoptips Thank you!! How is the transfer work from bus/tramway to bus/tramway?
Once validated, the T+ ticket allows you to make as many connections as you wish for 1h30 on the bus and tram network. Each time you change buses or trams, you must validate your T+ ticket in the machine again.
You are the best!! Thank you!!!@@paristoptips
I read some post saying that ww need photo to get a navigo card. Is it correct? Since the video you say we dont need
In the video, I said you need a photo for a Navigo Découverte card, for weekly pass, but not for a Navigo Easy card.
Hello #Paristoptips
Can you suggest reliable shuttle or taxi company for transfer from Paris CDG to Paris city?
From the airport, all taxis at the taxi stand will be legit. They'll have you pay 55€ for the right bank and 62 € for the left bank.
can someone plz help what to get for myself for 72 hours stay in Paris ? I will be travelling from Orly airport to Notre dam, 2nd day to Disney land, 3rd day to Eiffel Tower and back to airport
I guess the best would be a Navigo Weekly pass on a Navigo Découverte card, taking the Orlybus from and to Orly.
Be careful, the Orlyval rail solution is not included on Navigo Weekly.
I am visiting paris with my wife and 9 year old son , can i buy a 3 day metro family pass ?
There's nothing such as a family pass. You'd have to get individual tickets or individual passes.
Can include wheelchair users in your videos? Like showing the disability access sometimes
Good idea. I'll try too. But Paris is definitely not very wheelchair-friendly...
Navigo Pass 2024 JJOO ??? ¿¿??
Sorry, what's the question?
@@paristoptips There is no information anywhere about the procedure to have the 2024 navigo pass card for the 2024 Olympics.
A lot of information that from August 20 to 11, plus the Paralympics, the Navigo cannot be picked up, but nothing is said about the 2024 Pass for the Games, where it is purchased, what it is like, where it is picked up, etc. etc.
thank you
@@Lastresorte I'm planning to do a specific video on this subject in March or April.
Hello, exellent video
I was wondering if I can buy a Navigo découverte on saturday and use it for a whole week.
Thank you for the answer
Thanks.
If you buy it on a Saturday, you will only be able to use it on the Mobday, until next Sunday.
The French can learn a lot from London. The ticketing process is unnecessarily complicated - its almost as if the French are mocking visitors.
They(re not mockers. They(re just overly complicated, as for many things in France.
Increasing public transportation prices during the Olympic games? Not cool, Paris!
True! They had promissed transport would be free when they won the Games...
This said, the 1 day unlimited pass will be 16€, which is cheaper than the current 20,60€ price.
@@paristoptips Ah, that's better. that's very reasonable.
I guess the metro police who check people’s tickets need to fine people to cover their salaries. LOL
I THINK the Paris system is old fashioned and overly complicated. It’s a tourist trap. Tourist unfriendly. I live in Tokyo that is bigger than the one in Paris. And it’s waaaay easier to use.
The Paris payment system is overly complicated, that is true.
But the network is really extensive and inside Paris, very convenient.
Hello , Taking bus using Navigo easy and transferring to another bus within 1 hour , Do I get charged 2 rides in my Navigo ?
No, but you have to scan your pass twice
@@paristoptips Thanks
Seriously, It’s not that difficult to ride the metro in Paris. Just read the signs.
Sometimes, just the fact of being far from home makes people react bizarrely
