I just ordered a dehydrator today. I'm 81 years old and have a potato chip addiction. I will make chips and also onion salt in my dehydrator. I am so psyched!!!
@@luvelelife Well, I did some but I think maybe I did them too thin, and they shrunk way too much after the 10 hours. I have a borner slicer on thinnest, and I think a little bit thin. I also think I should have progressively sprinkled oil etc on as I was slicing, as was finding it hard to sparate and try get some coating on. I did too much salt too. They are definitely crisp though and tasty but not as nice looking as the video. I'll try again. It probably needed less time with that thinness from the borner
Does one have to soak them in water first? I just tried this, it turned into raw macaroni. Airfryer is way better. 10 - 12 on c°180. At least if you want a potato chip consistency. They turn a little darker, but taste better. They also don't have to come out hardened. If you leave them on the counter for few seconds after taking them out of the airfyer, they cool and harden. If not, put them in the airfryer a few more seconds. Also... pre-soak them and then lay them on a towel to dry before roasting them to remove starch.
I dehydrated sweet potatoes several months ago for the first time. I opened them for the first time today. Some have white on them and I'm not sure if that's okay. They smell fine. Any idea about that?
@@luvelelife thank you for responding! I found out something useful. The white is often carbs appearing on the surface. If it doesn't brush off that's what it is and it is safe. If it brushes off it's likely mold and should be thrown away.
If that Dehydrator can do 34 degrees its GOLD. Some food you need too in order to keep the nutrients. If it does SOLD. This is a great way to get people of smiths crisps too. EDIT it does! TEMPERATURE: The Luvele Breeze Dehydrator can operate at a temperature range of between 25 and 75 degrees C, with 5 degree C increments.
Hi there, our Dehydrator is 500w on the highest temperature setting of 75 degrees C. With this you can work out the kilowatt-hour and the approx cost in your location.
Hi there, thanks for your feedback. Can I ask, did you dehydrate them at the 75 degrees C temp? Also, depending on how thick you slice them, it may take longer to dehydrator them. If they are not crispy simply put them on for another 3-4 hours.

That's great, thanks for sharing, we would love to hear how they turn out : ))
Genius! This way you preserve the healthy resistant starches, too!

You are so kind : ))
1:47 dehydrate at 158 F / 75 C for 72 hours
Sweet! ❤
I’m considering doing this with purple sweet potatoes. Do you know how long they last after they are dehydrated?
purple sweet potatoes sound great. They will store for up to a week in an air tight container.
@@luvelelife thank you! I’m that’s really helpful ☺️💗
I would think they will last until they are all eaten. Once they are dehydrated I can't keep my hands off them, they are sooo good.
They look great
Thank you!

Great video!
Wanted to ask if this method works with alternatives like carrots?
Hi there, So glad you like it. Yes, carrots will work well as chips made in this way : ))
Can you use any dehydrater and still use same time frame to dehydrate and temp?
Hi, yes other types of Dehydrators will work.
How do you long term store these?
Hi there, they store well in an airtight container, but best enjoyed fresh : ))

Sorry I am not sure, but to be safe I would not eat them.

Great video. Will this work on Squash and Eggplant?
Thank you! we have not tried Squash and Eggplant but if you give them a try let us know how they turn out.
Hi.. can we reduce the length of time for the same result? Please advice?
Hi there for this recipe you will need this drying time or they will not work.
Does it consume alot of electricity?
Hi there, our Dehydrator is 500w on the highest temperature setting of 75 degrees C. With this you can work out the kilowatt-hour and the approx cost in your location.
On behalf of dehydrator owners this thing guzzles electricity so much.
when is Luvele UK getting this dehydrator in.
Hi there, we will be launching the Breeze Dehydrator in the UK in 2 weeks : ))
@@luvelelife Hi that's great thanks.
is this dehydrator available in the Philippines?
Hi there, unfortunately our brand in not currently available in the Philippines.
Can you store these long term?
Hi there, in an airtight container they will last 2-3 weeks : ))
Hi question, doesn't oil effect the food in dehydrator ?
Hi there, you could try it without the oil, but we found it works well with a little olive oil.
hi do you need to use oil ????
Hi there, we have not tried this recipe without oil, if you do let us know how they turn out. Thanks.
hi used your recipe and after 10 hrs ... my sweet potato and beetroot were chewy and not crisp
