Exactly, so it's not entirely fair. If you took some huge piece of kit like Bourgault's biggest drill + cart to Europe it would perform horribly, but that doesn't mean it's bad kit.
Amazone: “hey mike what did you think of the sprayer.” Mike: “15mph shaky shaky shaky, boom go breaky, breaky, and then you got your wooh woooh wooh! While the screen goes digguh, digguh, digguh, digguh.” Amazone: ... Love it!
22:50 yeah, I remember that feeling well. You could have shut down an hr or two ago but didn't and you realize you made the wrong call. On the other hand you know damn well that if you had shut down it never would of rained.
You know I am just a lowly craps dealer from Mississippi but that thing seems very complicated for what it does. Y’all farmers work with some very complicated tractors and seeders and just everything. Gotta give y’all props for all you do. Love the content btw
Hi Mike... One of the best little known S/P sprayers on the market is the American made AGTruck....AG TRK 430 Chassis: 9L Cummins, 430 HP with a Allison 4000 RDS Automatic Transmission.. We run on our farm Vector 300 units and they are literally indestructible...
It's size is made for the European road regulations, maximum 3m width ( just about 10 feet). Since it exported in a North American market where these is basically no road regulation on farm equipment that is why it appears to be small.
Good review I’m thinking the engineering is really good but it’s designed for a different market. Needs to be simple and big for you. You measure your land in miles/km. Europe they measure farms in centi meters and roads are narrow:). Good video in couple years that sprayer company could dominate if they listen to your review. They almost got it
When you hit something, the energy that needs to be absorbed (by making a dent or kink in the boom) depends on the driving speed and the weight of that last boom part. With a better weight-to-strength ratio, aluminum could end up better than steel, because it takes less energy to stop a lighter boom.
Hey Mike when you do your map outline for your field so your system knows where the waters ways are and The Rock piles are so when you put it on automatic pilot so to speak it can run by itself in and steer around those articles and keep going
I’ve come to the conclusion, if I ever want to get married ( again). I’m going to let Mike test her out for a few hours, then give a review. To let me know the pros and cons-on a honest level and if it’s worth the investment lol
Should look at the hardi sprayers.. get the ones with the 10.000L tank and 54.5metre boom really big and really increases productivity 🌾🚜 and would be really good for your operation tbh
Mike - as always, great objective observations. You need to find a way to get involved in the front end design of these products, that would be valuable input for the designers. Bet you could come up with a better product at a significantly lower costs. Little surprised that some manufacture isn't knocking on your door.
The hockey stick is for indicating the correct spraying height. 50 cm. The width is likely narrow to match European tractor widths, for custom sprayers.. Im not sure why you'd make self propelled sprayer booms flimsy? Weight difference to a sturdy one is negligible but bet they use the same stuff from 3 point, trailed to self propelled...
Anemometer (wind speed measurer) Is like $40 from you local electronics shop Think every one has one in their sprayer Have seen some that have a cord so people mount them on the roof and run the screen inside But the little bearings inside them don't last too long (unless you buy the $1000+ ones)
Really like the honest review, but i wonder if you might miss some information. As you learn to use all controls fast and learn more about this sprayer maybe your opinion will change? Somehow my gut tells me you should be able to bypass that boom going up and down all the time automatically and stuff like that. Seems really strange to have such a feature when its not even necessary all the time. Keep us updated if you know more.
You could set that height like a combine header return yes. And even if after 100hrs you got it down to which screen does what, and which function you have programmed for which applications, that doesn't all of sudden change the fact, that it's still not user friendly 🤷♂️ Perhaps you just adapted, but that's all 😂.
New sub and I have to say you have some amazing set up. Here in ireland you wouldn’t see the size of the machinery that you have or fields. How much acres do you farm?
That things was built for spraying in Europe on hard packed tramlines at 12 miles an hour.I wish you could try a Agrifac there are a couple in our area.
I can just see the engineer's sitting around a table watching your video reviews sweat pouring down their foreheads saying ok fix this, switch that and change this.. LOL
More likely they may make an US / American edition as Mike may not get much traction with the big European market. Still most of it does seem like stuff that can be tweaked in software for the ones that have the code.
I dont know if I would like that with that boom and rack system. I'm from Nebraska and the wind blows a lot here too. My dad preached to me all the time about keeping the rack and booms down especially when you're on boundaries. Many farmers don't all run with the same crop. Like roundup ready corn and the field across the fence line is running liberty corn. Obviously carryover would be detrimental to the adjacent field. So even starting that high could or probably would carryover even though as you say the boom lowers quickly. I don't think the cost would justify buying that machine, compared to paying a neighbor for crop destruction. That's just my opinion
Mike I thought you where trying to fly when you where flapping your arm up and down??? LOL Seriously, The Pantera sprayer is built for a totally different market. Smaller fields and narrow roads. It also seems like the European computer controls are more complicated than the ones made in the US. The Fendt tractors are like that, you can do hundreds of things with the computer in it but put a hired man in it and see how confused he is by it.
Maybe take a look at the Horsch sprayers like the Horsch Leeb PT (1585 / 2110 gal.) or Leeb TD (towed, 3150 gal.). I heared they're pretty solid sprayers.
Ok Mike, looks like it's a no go on the Amazone. So, since your brother won't release the steering wheel in his John Deere tell him HE has to do a review on it for all your followers??? Lol Thanks for your sharing. Be safe. I do hear wedding bells soon.....right??👍👍😊
I know this is a naive question, and the volume would probably have to be too great, but why not irrigate a field when its too dry, with a a=spreader or similar device
One tbing i do love and hate is the led lights everywhere and on the nozzles and how each nozzle has its own shut off? If i heard correctly. Either way i love all that BUT...over time weather weat tear etc..id hate to deal with the issues of just how things are at times 😅
I guess the Pantera was also designed for the European market where the fields are quite a lot smaller and the roads are much narrower (in some places even this might struggle) so I guess it just might be a bit too small for farms like yours
I would definitely change the program to only spray when told to spray not 20 ft in the stinking air killing honey bees and killing neighbors beans. I wouldn't accept it from the dealer till it only turned on the spray when I pushed a specific spray button. Any other way and they can have it back.
Mike would you consider a full track system on sp sprayer just seen a JD with full poluzzi tracks all round. Am guessing road speed is a limiting factor with tracks?
Do you pick up your rock piles on the field and move them away from time to time? because it doesnt sound comfortable to farm around these everytime...

Mike would like the 50mph road speed.
It's size is made for the European road regulations, maximum 3m width ( just about 10 feet). Since it exported in a North American market where these is basically no road regulation on farm equipment that is why it appears to be small.

For some reason I really wanted that Amazone to be the best one you’ve tried. Looks good but looks aren’t everything obvs.
Need to try a Horsch, the booms are amazing on them.

I think its limited to 25 because in Europe you cant go any faster with machinery. It would need to be registered as a truck if you want it to go 35+

Hi Mike sir, .. congrats with the 50K subs, .... up to the 100K ...... 😂😆
Thanks! I noticed that too.. Crazy!
Do modern sprayers have technology to measure current wind speeds? I would think that would be a convenient feature.
I'm a John Deere mechanic, we have a customer who mounted a weather station on the top of their sprayer to track things like wind, humidity, etc.
Horch has it 🙂

I have yes..
I think you mentioned a review on the trailed Amazone sprayers is coming. Or did I imagine this?
He said the updated boom is coming to the trailed sprayers. He sent the ones he had back.
