I was at this game.... When the penalty was saved it was as if we had scored! You felt the whole place lift, it was palpable, im sure the players felt it too. What a fantastic day. The only downer was that all the pubs within a mile radius of wembley had been closed so we caught the tube to a place called Dollis Hill and went in the first pub we found, and guess what, it was packed with wanderers fans. Needless to say it was a brilliant day and a fantastic memory.
My Uncle (now passed) said if they score the penalty we’d leave. As a young kid I couldn’t understand why anyone would leave. Penalty saved and as you said a Brilliant and unforgettable day.
Fantastic, what a ding-don-do !!!! I remember this match, I was in a pub in Edinburgh & had a great time watching. I had a small Lofty the Lion mascot perched on top of the big screen.
Just seen this, and what a game of football.. remember people leaving at half time and bet they regretted that . Personally my best match of the past...
Watching the morning we play Oxford in the league one play off 2024, didn't go to Wembley in 95 but honourable mention for the absolute amazing day we had watching it in the now deceased Wingates labour club, absolute carnage 😅😅😅
With the benefit of the years passed, its great to see these videos because it helps the rose tinted specs of the Rioch era have a bit more clarity. We had good individual defenders but were woeful at the back and seemed to defend by the seats of our pants at times. On occasions, this one being the most notable, our ability to outscore the opposition covered these deficiencies, but overall it probably cost us in terms of the league that year as particularly away from home good teams shut us out. Folklore stuff this though.
At the time, Fabian de Freitas was a £400k disaster. That was a huge transfer fee in '95 for a non-premiership team, and he was at best bang average. He scored more than a quarter of his goals for Wanderers in this game alone. Still a hero of mine obs......
As a Reading fan I was pretty depressed after this Match , so I went down the West End with my mate and we had a few drinks with a young Heather Mills and her friend.

Wasn't even alive at the time, but I know how legendary this match was
Still watching in 2019.
Still getting goosebumps
The commentary is the most northern thing I've ever heard and I'm from Hull.

the commentary is everything, i thought max & paddy were commentating :D :D
i was 14 when i went to this match oh the memories great day it was
john leemon didn’t deserve the win though, Reading were robbed and should’ve been well out of sight by half time
Fantastic day it was, think I was 13 at the time... Can't beat those days...
PNE fan in peace - remember watching it on TV at the time, how crucial that penalty save turned out to be. Knocked the stuffing out of Reading.
I was sat on the end of the row and had me foot on the step , I was proper going home if that went in. It was as good as a goal .
Fan of neither but it was a gripping game. Thinking how did reading throw it all away. Was so cringe and embarrassing

Top day that. Totally mental. The coach broke down on the way home but we couldn't give a plop

I miss old England, before the great replacement.
Loved it back then, now the towns full of 💩

What a game, seems like yesterday.
I was there with my best bud, lost my voice for 3 days.
Lost mine for a week 😂
One of the best matches I got to watch in person. Was a crazy game but a very happy journey home. Biggest surprise was John Mcginlay not scoring.
Best match to date Coywm
Happy days indeed.
I was there! Best day in football ever
We are going up
I was there what a day. So was Uri Gellar 😂😂😂
to be fair the Nogan goal was a classic, glad we won though
Super john what about Super Dave Higgson.
Dave Higson in absolute tatters.
Fantastic 😊

Is that George Formby commentating?😂
Still dont understand how they got away with playing in kits which almost clash
What a great day made up for the coke a cola final loss to Liverpool a month earlier
Bruh 4:14 had me dying
A game of 2 halves...penalty save and taking off the useless Neil McDonald changed it
superwhites!
Great video, even better when i muted that bell ends awful commentary.
Chris agreed, aye up....yep want a bunch of muffled bellends
@@stephenpeacock2627 Best match I have been to as good as Beating Bayern Munich COYWM
