Ethan’s insistence on putting everything on the table can be read from a multitude of angles. Yes, it does provide content but all parties are aware of what they’re doing live. It also was Ethan, as a close friend, wanting to know why Bobby was feeling pressure and through Bobby opening up and talking to Ethan you can see Bobby realizing that he wasn’t as backed into a corner as he had thought. It seems like Bobby was able to find resolve in having the support of Ethan and probably felt relief knowing that he’s not alone in thinking of his innocence in the whole thing.
