I'm honestly with Ethan at the start of the livestream clip where the guy calling in was definitely taking it way too seriously. There wasn't necessarily any harm in them outside of poking at these people who he thinks are homophobic by playing off the idea that they're actually secretly gay. It honestly is funny and a lot of LGBT people make those same jokes towards homophobes, the idea being that they wouldn't care so much about gay people unless they were actually gay themselves and are just in denial about it. So when the guy called in complaining about the joke, I don't really blame Ethan for not being that phased by it considering the point of the joke is to make homophobes uncomfortable, because that's why LGBT people make those jokes, too. I don't really think it's hypocritical of him to criticize the guy that was directly harassing people in public, hitting on them, and pretending to be a gay man just to hit on them. I don't really see those two things as comparable at all. However, I definitely think him grilling the guy who called in went a little too far, but it's pretty clear he was just completely taking the piss out of the situation. I definitely feel like he should've stopped after insulting the caller by insinuating they were a bottom, though. I could also just be misinterpreting his intent because these jokes are pretty much harmless 99% of the time and made by LGBT people themselves to make homophobes seethe, but maybe Ethan meant it in a different way and was instead trying to stereotype sexual preferences, but I also don't really think he was doing that considering he was explicitly joking around about how bottoms could still be chads or whatever.
