You can make it so if a large amount of particles and clumped together and just sitting still they will become combined particles. This will allow you to get a ton more water in your game
Is it at all possible to assign collision events to these particles? They look great, and they rain down out of a cloud very well and to the ground. I want to make it so my water particles can put out a fire, or sink into the ground slowly?
I'm sure there is, but that would require you to not only design your own physics engine in game maker, but also design a completely separate liquid physics engine that uses your own physics engine. As far as possible.. yes it is. But it would most likely all have to be written in a different language, and added to GameMaker via .dll
I assume i need to have physics activated in the room automatically so this can work, right? so in that case, can i have non physics objects interacting with each other and this physics working at the same time?
That's a very "gray" area for GM. It is possible, definitely, but it's a bit difficult and things will not work how you intend for them to. Trial and error.
Nice tutorial! I get that with blend modes you are actually inverting the color and removing the black background, but why would you do that in the first place? Can't you just have a blue particle on transparent background to begin with?
when the objects overlap each other, you see a small black outline around the sprite. This is due to the graphics card trying to compensate for the png part, and it basically makes colors up. That's why we have to do this. If you want to test just a regular png sprite, comment out the blend mode parts, and change the sprite in the draw event. Hope this helps!
You can use more than 5000 particles. Dont use Windows or Android... as target. USE GAME MAKER PLAYER ---> there you can have 20k+ with just 200MB RAM usage I wrote the Support Team of YoYo. They will fix it for the other targets. You can trust me: I have done a water physics app for android.
+team toilet hmm, your rudeness aside, I challenge you to two things. 1. Make something better yourself, and 2. Find something better online that allows for physics interactions. Good luck 👌.
GML Waffle it's that im making a very serious game and I can't find real water for my water dungeon and it's pissing me off its nothing against you this is cool and all I just want real fuckin water
+team toilet well if it's a side perspective game, you could probably use a single image and blend modes alongside some image transformations to make a seemingly realistic body of water. However with that you won't be able to do things like flowing water or physics.
GML Waffle this is a really serious game im not even lying it's amazing. it's a sidescroller elderscrolls Witcher 3 kind of game and all the pixel art is detailed af I've been working on it for like 2 months and plan to work on it for 5 years. I want the water to look and feel real and be really disgusting and dirty with dead rats and garbage in it because the player will wake up in it being tortured by guards that will knock him out and bring him to the prison

hello! Can you make a tutorial on a minecraft water physics with this version (1.4)? I'm stuck at the part where the water actually flows. Thanks!
Is there a Way to simulate Water (or other Liquids with higher viscosity) in Gamemaker without the in-built Physics System?

GML Waffle Makes sense, thank you.

Dude, this is so cool, i love your tutorial. But, im too lazy to do something like this.
Good job.
+RedSamurai hah thanks!
not work in gms2
thank you for gamemaker video
well how do you make it so that if the water is outside any part of the room it deletes it self?.
It doesnt work for me
THKS
When i type physics_particle_create it doesnt work (i have the gms 1.2)
why is my camera following a particle
disable views
my water bouncing ... like a ball ?

why is it a bunch of circles that's not water its circles looks nothing like real water which is bullshit

GML Waffle that's why im so angry I really want this game to be something special
