I like those essential 💿 cds. I have a few of them. I liked Ted Nugents song Cat Scratch Fever from 1977. Love Elvis. I saw the 🎥 movie and thought it was a masterpiece. Like Talking Heads mainly their 1970s music. I liked the AL Green cover they did Take Me to the River from 1978. Three Dog Night were a cool band. I liked their song Liar. 🎵 I have a large collection of music on CD. I like Sparks. Their tune Number One Song in Heaven from 1979 is 😎 cool. I have Joe Cockers live in concert CD which is good. Iggy Pop is brilliant!. His music 🎶 with the Stooges is the best. Loved the Kinks. My favorite song of theirs is Apeman from 1970. I enjoyed the Monkees in my childhood. Mike Nesmith had a hit titled Rio from 1977 which I liked. Like you Larry I'm a fan of Elvis Costello too. THANKS 😊 From Carl.
Hey Larry, came across this old video. You know, I really liked those early Ted Nugent albums too, he had a great sound. I think his ego took over and he ran off the dude who sand most of the leads and played bass. That and he tried to get too commercial. Those first three where great though. I have also always been a fan of The Who and Odds and Sods is a great album, love it. I'm also a fan of all those Clapton/Winwood groups, Cream, Traffic, Blind Faith... Those albums were great. Also a fan of the Monkees, their music doesn't get the credit it deserves.
Elvis's early stuff is great Larry, especially his Sun recordings,Elvis is also a great gospel singer and I feel that if he had lived that that is what he would have eventually settled into, the Northern Pikes were a great Canadian pop band, one of the best and I saw them years ago at Ontario Place,as a kid half of my friends were Cream fans and half were Jimi Hendrix fans,I preferred Hendrix. Bob
Nice. That Essential Elvis sound quality is very good. I get what you are saying about the Elvis movie and that you would rather watch a documentary. I usually have that same opinion but the Elvis movie is out of this world and to see it on the big screen is something else. I have been a huge Elvis fan for 45 years and nothing has captured the soul of Elvis like this, in my opinion. Movies don't make me cry but I’ve seen it twice and cried both times. And I don't mean just tears..... full on crying. 😭☺️
I met Ted Nugent and his wife at a bookstore back in 2000. He was nice enough to give me a few guitar picks and a hunting card. His politics are too conservative for me but his music in the seventies is quite great. I would like to have known Elvis, but I was just a kid. His candle burned out long before the legend ever did. Thanks Elton.
Very relaxing - It SPARKED my interest to go down a deep rabbit hole as per my comment on your other channel. Highly recommend Talking Heads "The Name of This Band is Talking Heads". I think the live versions are better than the studio. Do you have more of Iggy? I assume so given the tie to Bowie and Lou Reed. He has a lot of great stuff. Tap dancing eh? How about tap dancing to "The Black Page" or "Be-Bop Tango:. BA HA HA HA. Now I am going to watch this again to try and get back to bed.
The 2 cd Sparks Past Tense compilation is very good indeed. I am glad to have it in my collection. The more basic This Album's Big Enough: The Best of Sparks has a special place in my heart as buying that one made me want to hear more.
One other thing, I remember at some point in the 80's about who was the best 60's British band, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones or The Who? I love all those bands but I would always interject that The Kinks need to be in that conversation.
Hello Larry. I think you have almost the whole discography of Sparks, so, what's the point of having the 3 CD compilation? Good videos, I like them very much. Thank you!
Their very first song from 1967 is included, all of the songs are remastered, some other rare songs and remixes plus a great booklet, so I am happy to have it in my collection. Thanks!
Hi Larry ! Good video lots of good music , some I like, some not so much. Now I've heard you talk about the Northern Pikes before and I wondered if they released any songs in the states ? And do you know if I could get any of their CD's thru Amazon or Barnes and Noble ? Just a thought , thanks .
The last album that bassist Bruce Thomas played on was 1996's All This Useless Beauty. I think When I Was CrueI is good, but maybe too many songs - I think an hour of music. I don't know, you be the judge. Tear Off Your Own Head is awesome. Check out the lyrics. The Bangles covered it
Yes, over an hour which I dislike almostwith any artist I prefer 40 minutes or so (unless it's supposed to be a double album) which the new Arthur Brown album is...

The Essential Collections are awesome as well as the Gold Collections. I have a couple.

I really love that newer 3CD best of Sparks album. It’s a great selection, especially kicking it off with computer girl

Have you listened to Flight of the Conchords? They're from New Zealand and have some great quirky music.
Yes but just on UA-cam. They're great!
@@LarryGravesCanadianStudmuffin Their tv show is funny and definitely worth a watch if you can find it.
I'm definitely not one to buy greatest hits anymore, but I'd say my favorite is Sounds of Summer by the Beach Boys.
I like rock music tho :D

Fear of Music is my favorite Talking Heads album too, but my lp is from 1979.

Yes, they toured in the States and had some radio play. I'm sure you could find them on Amazon.

You should read books. Unique sound. You don't sound like anyone I know.
